Dr. Lawrence has the practice of robotic knee replacement down to an art. The initial conference is a lead-in to a system of education for the patient and for the precise medical details necessary for this surgeon. The staff is amazing on all levels. I expected pain and distress, but was pleasantly surprised that both were more than tolerable given the experience and care that Dr. Lawrence and his staff provided. Why did I wait so long?!

He and his support staff form a very informative, cohesive, and skilled medical team. They have excellent communication skills while being caring and efficient in their appointments. I knew exactly what to expect and was given direct phone numbers to ask any questions. Dr. Lawrence and his entire team came very highly recommended and they again earned their reputation for sure. From the pre surgery appointments, to the actual surgery experience, to the post surgery follow ups, Dr. Lawrence was professional, complete, approachable, and personable. I can't imagine a better experience for a major surgical procedure that for many can cause some anxious feelings. The team included a very competent PT staff that are honest, complete, and hands-on with the exercises, stretches, etc. provided the day after surgery that are necessary in the first 4-5 critical weeks post surgery for optimal physical outcomes. It's a team effort and this team in Viroqua, Wisconsin led by Dr. Jeff Lawrence knocks it out of the park. I highly recommend their excellent services and care.

I had hip revision surgery in Viroqua by Dr Lawrence late 2022. I found DR Lawrence and the entire team to be top notch professionals in their field. The team is very compassionate and work great together. All members of the team provide the impression that they truly enjoyed their jobs and their patients. Dr Lawrence employees the latest technology and systems in readying patients for surgery and recovery. Surgery went very well and the recovery was even better. Pain management was better than expected. I cannot think of anyone else that I would recommend for hip and knee replacement surgery. I was referred to Dr Lawrence by a friend who had both knees replaced. The friend was very, very happy with his surgery and recovery. Dr Lawrence replaced my right hip. I was able to go home the day of the surgery. I now can do things l haven’t been able to do in years. The quality of care before, during and after the surgery has been absolutely fantastic.

My previous knee surgery was failing me. I had recently moved to Viroqua Wisconsin where many people were suggesting I see Dr Lawrence to find out if he could “fix” my knee. He evaluated my knee and determined that I would benefit greatly from a Total Knee Revision. I agreed to proceed. The practice is perfectly organized. A date is set and the staff arranges all related appointments including physical therapy. Dr.Lawrence offered me the opportunity to observe my procedure, which I did with no regrets. The technology is advanced and that afforded me a painless procedure. The surgical staff was well coordinated and efficient. I was well cared for overnight by the nursing staff at VMH. I was very impressed with my hip replacement surgery. I have no pain since I had the procedure. I never had to take any pain medications since the day I left the hospital. I was very impresses withe the hospital, hospital staff and Dr. Lawrence. I highly recommend Dr. Lawrence. My latest visit was a 6 week recheck of my knee replacement surgery. My entire experience with Dr. Lawrence and his staff was a very positive one. During this time all of my questions and concerns have been addressed in a professional manner. My first meet with Dr. Lawrence was like meeting with an old buddy who just happens to know how to replace a knee. Dr. Lawrence explained the process and procedure in way I would understand. It was suggested to have a nerve ablation prior to the surgery which I did. It sounded much worse than it is. Ablation was performed at Gundersen in La Crosse. For me the ablation was almost painless and I believe minimized the post surgery pain. Day of surgery was actually low stress for an anxious person like me to make that statement is rare. Whirlwind of staff prepping and keeping you comfortable and relaxed. The care staff put up with my joking and threw it right back at me which made the day pass quickly and less stress. There is not one staff member at V.M.H. that didn't impress us. The lunch after surgery was excellent. 8 hours later I was relaxing comfortably at home. We are blessed to have a high quality Surgeon and support staff to close to home.

Dr Lawrence and the orthopedic staff are the most professional, thorough, and up to date surgical team I have ever been associated with. I have had both knees replaced in the last 4 years with outstanding results (most recently 8 weeks ago). Dr Lawrence innovations have been successful and make him one of the premier surgeons in his field, both nationally and internationally. My particular surgery was recorded for an upcoming international conference.

Dr. Lawrence is very thorough, professional and personable. He answered all of my questions completely in words that a non-medical person could understand. He made me comfortable about the process of a total knee replacement. He came personally to see me after the surgery and report that all had gone well. The six week follow-up appointment with him was very encouraging as well.

I've had both hips replaced in the past 4 months with great success. The care I received from Dr. Lawrence and the entire staff from all the departments involved has been amazing. They approached my care with an obvious attitude to give me the best possible care and an ultimate goal of making my life and health the best it can be. Everything I experienced at Gundersen Lutheran Viroqua Clinic was exceptional. From the initial consultation, the x-rays, the knee ablation to numb the nerves, the consultation with Dr. Lawrence when everything was explained very well plus I was given explanatory material and web sites I could reference. The surgery went very well, I particularly liked the option to watch Dr. Lawrence and his team work on my knee as the operation was in progress on a video monitor, and the DVD of the surgery that I took home. After the surgery I stayed overnight and was treated like someone who is very important, which I am not. I was very well cared for by nurses, CNAs, PT and OT educators, and other care givers. Dr. Lawrence came in to review my surgery and see how I was doing. I must mention the food, there is a great ala carte menu. The food is prepared and presented when you order and is as equal to what I would expect in a nicer restaurant. I particularly liked the shrimp kabob, and the fish.

I had a great visit with Dr. Lawrence at my 6 weeks appointment after my total knee replacement. He was very thorough and answered all of my questions. I would highly recommend him and his staff.

I have had many surgery’s over the years and many had horrible recoveries. The hip replacement and care I received from Dr. Lawrence and his team combined with diligence to the recovery process they prescribed has led to an incredibly quick and low pain experience. Because I strictly followed the protocol for pre/post-surgery exercises, elevation, and icing, I was released from physical therapy after my six-week post-surgery appointment. I consulted Dr. Lawrence due to severe right hip pain and ultimately elected to have a total hip arthroplasty (THA). Throughout the entire process from pre-surgery, surgery, and post-surgery - he was efficient, knowledgeable, competent and caring. He suggested same-day surgery and I agreed. I was discharged about 8.5 hours after he started the surgery and I felt totally prepared to go home. Dr. Lawrence is a great surgeon, but what really differentiates the orthopedic surgical program at Vernon Memorial Hospital is the tremendous coordination among the surgeon, pharmacy, nursing, PT and OT. The team has prepared a top-notch patient education manual that explains the surgery, what to expect, care after surgery, exercises, etc. That manual served as my bible - especially during the first two weeks post-op. The pre-surgical sessions with PT, OT and Pharmacy were very instructive. I had an excellent patient experience and most importantly a great surgical outcome.

The whole experience was amazing thanks to Dr. Lawrence's whole process from start to finish. His team and all the staff at the hospital were top notch. Dr. Lawrence recently did a revision of my left knee. Four years ago the initial knee replacement was done by another surgeon and I had been in agonizing pain since. My revision surgery has been an amazing success. I now can do all the activities I thought I'd have to give up. Dr. Lawrence recently replaced my right knee, and while I am still in recovery am very pleased with my progress. He has done knee and hip replacements on many of my friends, all with outstanding results. I owe this to his attention to detail, great team at VHC, and to keeping patients in the hospital the night after surgery for observation and instructions. Since 1985 I have had pain in my right knee. I had pain daily that kept me from enjoying life and my passion for horses. Simple tasks became difficult. My Tibia was twisted and my foot toed in. After 8 knee surgeries, seeing DR Lawrence and his team was the best decision I ever made for myself. I have ZERO pain. My leg is straight, I walk with a straight foot. My ROM is 115 easily pre surgery it was less then 90. I was 4/5 degrees short of straight leg. I am at zero and straight. I cannot thank Dr Lawrence and his staff enough, for giving me my life back. Back in 1996 I dislocated my right knee and ruptured my ACL, PCL and MCL, and tore the LCL about 50% playing football. Over the course of two surgeries Dr Lawerence put my leg back together. I was warned that I may have a limp and be unable to straighten my leg 100%. With some real hard work and his incredible skill as a surgeon I can say I have no limp and the leg straightens completely. Fixed it so well that I went back after four years and played the game I love for three more. A bit slower maybe, but I returned to a full active life style. This man has an incredible skill and he’s a straight shooter when he diagnoses you. Thank you Dr Lawrence.
