About Jeffrey Thomas Hamm
Reviews for Jeffrey Thomas Hamm
I compound fractured my right arm above the wrist rolling skating in 1994. He did a good job fixing my broken bones. He explained to me that I was not cut out for roller skating. Yes, I am a swimmer, rolling skating is not in my bag. He said repeat after me, "I will not go rolling skating again." I saw him again in 2017 and he diagnosed arthritis in my right hip. When you go see a physician, you only have about 11 seconds to explain the nature of your problem. It's common for doctors to stereotype people and make bias assumptions, because they are human. Maybe you will get 3 seconds with one of them that didn't like you the minute they opened the door and saw you. When my arm was broken in two places, he stayed focused for the whole 45 minutes. When I talked to him about my arthritic hip, he seemed less interested and told me that the hip would have to be replaced in five to ten years. I was disappointed that he didn't give me more treatment options. Hip replacements can go bad.
I broke my wrist. Dr. Hamm did an excellent job putting it back together!
INADEQUATE COVID PREVENTION MEASURES!!!!! Small waiting room filled with too many people. They seated themselves apart, but the room was completely enclosed, not one of 3 doorways remained opened for airflow. No one asked any questions about your exposure to people who might be positive. No one took a temperature or checked your pulse ox. Nothing. Just signs to wear masks and bottles of hand sanitizer, which are inadequate prevention measures when you have to site in an enclosed space with strangers, all breathing the same air, for more than a few minutes. There was only one person checking in patients. Several more people talking and laughing just beyond the waiting area. ONE doctor. I couldn't believe the staff would stack up so many patients to see one physician while 90% of the population has not been vaccinated. (Guessing staff has had their shots, though.) I left after 30 seconds bc I was not comfortable since I haven't been able to get a vaccination yet. I've had several other doctor appointments recently. You have to have temp check and answer questions just to get in the building. One hospital complex I visited won't let you wear your own masks in the building; they give you a fresh one at the door. They take your names in case they have to contact trace and notify you of possible exposure. The offices leave all their doors open for airflow. There are barricades preventing patients from standing too close to the receptionists. Examination rooms have special machines filtering the air. Patients are staggered so the waiting room never has more than 2 patients waiting for more than 5 minutes. These are simple precautions that medical offices can take. That Dr. Hamm's staff is not directed to do so indicates to me he has more business than he can handle and doesn't have to care that I didn't feel safe waiting for what would have been AT LEAST half and hour (judging by how many patients were waiting ahead of me) until my time, despite coming 20 minutes early to fill out paperwork. Don't go here if you haven't been vaccinated against Covid. Not worth the risk. INADEQUATE COVID PREVENTION MEASURES!!!!! Small waiting room filled with too many people. Dr. Hamm worked on my left shoulder and both knees in 2014. No problems since. He knows what he is doing and does it very well. Excellent doctor and great staff.
l love Dr Hamm and have gone to him for years. But, in this era of COVID, a doctor who doesn't wear a MASK is not okay and I'm not going back.
After 3 visits, several X-rays, 4 injections and consultations I hold Dr. Hamm in high regard. He seems to be spot on, kind and his charges are very reasonable even though he could get a lot more from Medicare...like other doctors I deal with.
I graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge, LA in 1985, but that is not why I rated Dr. Hamm as an excellent Orthopedic Surgeon. In 1994, I decided to go roller skating. After one hour of roller skating I became a bit over confident. I wiped out and compound fractured my right arm about inch above the wrist both bones. My dad took me to the late Dr. Rumbo and he x-rayed my wrist and forearm, he told me, you have a very unfriendly compound fracture and sent me to the hospital. I guess Dr. Hamm was waiting there. He stuck my fingers in a bunch of spongy loose wires and suspend my arm and proceeded to set the bones. I could hear and feel the bones moving and popping a little bit. He said, repeat after me, I will not go roller skating again. He wrapped up my arm and told me to keep it iced down for a week then come back for more x-rays, so I will need to know if the bones in your arm will require pins. I did what he told me to do. Everything went smoothly. He was as nice doctor. I saw him about an arthritic hip about 4 years ago. I still have an arthritic hip but since I started swimming again it has helped a lot with the sore hip. I can even hump up and down dolphin kick and no pain to the hip! But walking for too long is a different story. There is no impact in swimming to make the joints or bones sore, unless you fall out of an airplane without a parachute on. I'll probably need a hip replacement eventually, but it will have to do for now. Heads up to Dr. Hamm!
Dr. Hamm has been great with me and my wife.

Dr. Hamm did wonderful on my right shoulder. Now I need the other one done and he's the only one I would consider.
Dr. Hamm is competent, sincere, and caring. He cuts to the chase, doesn't miss a thing. One could not ask for a better doctor. Put second guessing aside here! You'll be in good hands.
Dr. Hamm and everyone in his office took good care of me during my shoulder surgery. My surgery went very well and my recovery has been good!
I work for a doctor's office and I called the office and had the pleasure of speaking with Tamera. She was very helpful and sweet. Thank you for your help
My wife and I have been going to Dr. Hamm for about 20 years. He's the best there is, and has always taken good care of us with whatever we needed. I wouldn't consider any other doctor for orthopedic help.
My husband and I have been going to Dr Hamm for yearssssssss. He’s done my rotator cuff and I recently had knee surgery had a good experience in my recovery. I can’t even see my scars anymore. Haven’t had any problems since.. I would highly recommend him!! Love Dr. Hamm and his staff!!

Horrible experience. Took my mother for 1st time visit. He wouldn't listen to her when she was telling him the pain she was feeling was not arthritis pain. She knew the pain he was describing and it was different from the issue she was having which prompted this visit. After belittling her, telling her how he was the one with the degree and all the schooling, and asking her if she did this (ask questions) to all her doctors, it turned out he was looking at the wrong leg.

Told me i needed shoulder surgery for AC Joint Separation and that the surgery was a layup and I would be fine within weeks. Months went by post surgery and i was in much worse pain than i had been before. Sought second and third opinions only to find out that my labrum was torn during surgery as well as having major nerve damage. He was too arrogant to admit his mistake until my 3rd post surgery MRI and agreed to perform another surgery. No thanks, went to a competent surgeon instead.

Dr. Hamm is the best there is. He's helped my over various injury issues over the years and always knows exactly what to do to relieve the pain and correct the issues as soon as possible. I wouldn't consider seeing anyone else.
Dr. Hamm was recommended to me by a friend as being the best. Well I must say my friend was wrong, Dr. Hamm is the GREATEST!!! He was my 2nd ortho I went too just for that second opinion. Immediately he gave me an accurate diagnoses after I explained my pain, & recommended a test that would show him how I needed to be treated. He wrote the name of my condition down told me to go and research it, I did. None of the others did. He's professional and has great bed side manners, & his staff is A1...
I found Dr. Hamm to be very demeaning, particularly toward women and made several unnecessary remarks about women not listening. I felt he was a good doctor, but his bedside manner could use some work. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but I am having a bad day after seeing him..

Great Doctor. Did everything possible to make me better and 3 years later I feel great. Thank You!
Motorcycle racer here..4th degree separated shoulder. Doc worked his magic and 10 weeks later I was on a bike again. 4 years since surgery. 4 crashes since. I forget about it everyday. Thanks for fixing me Dr. Hamm!
I visited today with my in law; she is 70 years old. She is a cash patient. I must say I had the best experience with anybody ever in the Medical Field. Dr. Hamm made us aware of the kind o Shoulder Injury she has. He ordered maybe 6 additional X-rays in addition to what we had on a CD. He also provided Mom with a arm support medical item to support her hand. I was expected to be asked to pay 1000 plus Dollars, what I was asked for was peanuts compared to my expectations. Dr. Hamm is so Great

Dr. Hamm is an excellent doctor. Highly recommend! However, I found dealing with Sheri ( the front office and insurance person) to be unpleasant and rude .
