Dr. Jeffrey Scott Cohen

Dr. Cohen has performed 5 surgeries on me...2 cancer surgeries, 1 ileostomy reversal, port in, port out. He is a remarkable human not just a skilled surgeon.

Hands down, the best doctor I have ever had. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer at age 37. From the moment I met Dr. Cohen, he eased my mind. He was always informative, supportive and positive. His bedside manner is unmatched. He provided his contact information and made himself available the times I needed to reach out. I was extremely pleased with my surgery outcome but, on top of that, Dr. Cohen’s attitude every time I met with him played a huge role in my positive mental state during this journey. This was the worst thing I’ve been through medically but the best experience with a doctor. His staff is wonderful as well. You won’t find anyone better than Dr. Cohen!

Please do not let him do surgery on you or a love on. He did on my sister who has had multiple complications and hospitalized multiple times. She now has more complications and he refuses to do anything. Please seek care elsewhere!

I was flabbergasted when a colonoscopy indicated that I needed a colon re-section. My understandable apprehension was much reduced when I met Dr Cohen who was to do the surgery. He explained the procedure, possible short-term side effects etc in layman's language. He also made himself readily accessible if I had any further questions before the procedure. This went well, with minimal pain effects (despite my condition being a little more severe than anticipated). I was walking quite easily within hours of the surgery. Displaying more of his great doctor/patient relationship skills, Dr Cohen phoned my wife immediately after the procedure to reassure her that all went well. Dr Cohen is not only the consummate doctor but has a great personality which certainly has a beneficial effect on patients like myself. Oh, and I must acknowledge the super nursing staff (Audrey; Christa & Lynn) working on the general surgery unit at Northside hospital. Utterly professional, caring and good natured.

Dr. Cohen performed a hemorrhoidectomy on me and I still suffer from the effects of the botched surgery. After my surgery, during which he also performed a sphincterotomy, (for his convenience) his poor techniques led to the formation of a fistula. He seemed to be frustrated with me after the post-operative issues, which he caused, appeared. The follow-up for the surgery and the consequential fistula were abhorrent. In his rush to appear to be treating the issue, he heavily painted my bottom with Zinc Oxide, which burned my skin. It turned black and formed a hard layer of burnt skin, which peeled off and left my backside literally raw. I was in severe pain and could not get a call back from his office after hours. It was a short time later that I realized that he had not even properly repaired the hemorrhoids. I had to go to another surgeon to have the surgery performed again by a competent surgeon and I never had another problem. Cohen is egotistical and rude.

Was referred to Dr. Cohen after a routine colonoscopy indicated I had 2 internal hemorrhoids. He immediately told me a hemorrhoidectomy was my only hope for pain relief. This surgery ruined my quality of life. My pain and problems increased ten times. On my follow up visits I tried to explain to him the degree of pain I was in. He was SO rude, had his assistant give me a business card & told me to go see another doctor. I found my own doctor. The surgery was unnecessary and I could have benefited if he had sent me to a pelvic physical therapist. The damage he has done is irreversible. PLEASE get a second opinion.

Dr.. Cohen was amazing. He did robotic surgery to remove stage 2 rectal cancer, and the outcome was curative and perfect. He also did the IIeostomy reversal surgery (removed the bag) which also turned out perfect. My surgeon friends told me he is one of the top robotic colorectal surgeons in the country. He teaches his techniques to students in medical school. He even gave me his cell phone number, and I was invited to call or text him any time with concerns or questions. He always answered me within 2 minutes.

Dr. Cohen is good at what he does. He can be kind of short when he is very busy, however he does generally explain everything thoroughly. I found it best to write down my questions and hand them to him. He answered each one every time. Dr. Cohen was very open and supportive to family involvement, even during COVID times. He worked with me through every step from consultation to radiation and chemo, the surgery and my hospital stay, back to more chemo. He is an excellent doctor and a good person.

Was in hospital for 28 days .Dr Cohen was always accessible, He always was available for any questions , Communicated with family when I couldn’t . Did surgery and saved my life . Thank you Dr Cohen for taking such great care of Me. Reta Hall

Dr. Cohen removed parts of my large and small intestines due to stage 2 colon cancer back in Nov 2011. He was great and I have had no further problems.

I have been seeing this doctor for over 15 years. He has the best bedside manor i have ever had, and anytime you need him he will get in contact ASAP. He stays up to date on all the new medical treatments . His nurse and office staff are so nice and helpful . Dr. Cohen is the best and most friendliest doctor i have ever had the honor of knowing.i know i am getting the best care with him.

Great bedside manner and keeps his patients comfort top of mind. Highly recommend.

Be prepared. Driver must wait in the car trough a patient’s colonoscopy. Told it would be an hour. Took 2 hours. Frightening in this large parking lot with no security in sight. All seemed uncaring. We are very careful about this virus but it seems this office could provide space for spouses waiting ...with empty rooms.

He is truly a man that I would not wish my worst enemy upon he has given my mother a death sentence from his sloppiness and arrogance my best advice run as fast as you can if you are recommended to him. He is truly an amazing example of textbook sociopathy and I hope that he gets what he deserves in life.

Dr. Cohen is an excellent doctor who is very thorough and professional. Upon learning that I had colorectal cancer he knew actually which treatment was the best option for my diagnosis. If anyone in my family was in the same predicament as I, I would insist that they seek treatment from Dr. Cohen and staff. Dr. Cohen's staff is courteous, professional and very attentive. Whenever I visit their office I always feel that I am in competent hands.

Dr. Cohen is not only a very skilled surgeon but he also has a wonderful and compassionate personality. He offers his patients a straight forward diagnosis of their condition but once the information is delivered, he offers a friendly and comforting approach. He is available at all times to ask any questions. He offers his patients his personal cell phone and will text with you at anytime. I think as someone that went through a first time cancer scare, it really helped with my mental approach to keep a positive frame of mind. He is someone you want to take care of you and he makes anyone that is getting their first colonoscopy performed feel more at ease. I can't think of a better doctor in his field and I highly recommend him to other men of my age that are going through their "50" first visits.

Traveled from NC for procedure and well worth it. Dr. Cohen is a caring and compassionate surgeon that has the highest quality facilities to work in an staff that provide 5 star service. A special thanks to anesthesia for an excellent PACU recovery.

I had a tremendous experience with Dr. Cohen and his team during one of the hardest times of my life.

After a history of recurring diverticulitis and recently finding a perforation, Dr. Cohen recommended a resection of my sigmoid colon. I had a very good first impression of Dr. Cohen, and I had no trouble agreeing with his recommendation. The surgery went well a few months ago, and I just had my last checkup with him this morning. There are still a few aches that will subside over the next month or so, but I am very happy with the results of my surgery. Dr. Cohen is friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. He also has a sense of humor, which is comforting for anybody who's had this type of condition.

Dr. Cohen is reliable, personal and extremely knowledgeable in his area. He is very committed to his patients and has a very positive and caring personality. He is an outstanding doctor and I am grateful to him.

From the time I was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer that had spread to my liver Dr. Cohen has been phenomenal. After being referred to Dr. Cohen, I was scheduled for a colon resection on due to reoccurring diverticulitis. Once my surgery began, he identified that a pervious mesh surgery had intertwined with my small intestines. He then had 2 areas of my colon to resection. Dr. Cohen stated to me, that he liked a challenge! He always had time to answer my questions, was down to earth, and made my wife and I comfortable to be around. Thanks again!

If we're honest, no one really wants to go to a "butt" doctor. If you have to go, you can do no better than Dr. Cohen. Yes, he is very busy. Yes, you may have to wait for a little while. However, when it's your turn, he spends with you all the time you need, answering questions and helping you feel comfortable with whatever you need, what's next, etc. I appreciate that Dr. Cohen does not treat his patients like a number. He is always pleasant and cordial, professional and kind. I had stage 3 rectal cancer and Dr. Cohen found it, referred me to a fabulous oncologist, and did my surgery. He pretty much saved my life. Dr. Cohen demonstrates genuine care and concerns for his patients. On a side note: If you're 50 or have any symptoms of something wrong in your "plumbing," go get a colonoscopy to make sure it's not cancer. The life you save may be your own!

My experience with Dr. Cohen was nothing but positive. He made himself directly available to me to answer any questions before and after surgery procedure. …….This is quite rare!!!!!

I had a colonoscopy about 2 weeks ago. When Dr. Cohen came to tell me all was OK, I had a question. The question was concerning the reason I had been seeing him for about 3 years. He told me to make an appointment. I arrived at the appointment on time. After 30 minutes wait, I told the receptionist that I was leaving. The receptionist said that I was next and it would only be 10-20 minutes more. I drove 30 minutes to get to and from the appointment and waited 30minutes. I think that my time is valuable, not to mention my gas. I had a long wait the last time I went to his office. They need help.

Dr. Cohen is amazing! He performed my surgery removing a cancerous tumor of 12 CM’s as well as did my port. He’s honest, keeps it real & is genuine. I’m high anxiety as it is and getting a diagnosis of cancer, well high anxiety to say the least. Dr. Cohen was able to remove all the cancer leaving me cancer free. Chemo for 6 months but cancer free I’ll take. Dr. Cohen is so personable and makes you feel so good about everything. Refreshing I’d recommend this awesome doc & surgeon any day. He makes me giggle too, which is a plus

Dr. Cohen is amazing and rare among other doctors. He performed a laparoscopic colectomy due to my diverticulitis condition. Throughout the process, he was understanding, extremely knowledgeable and has a very welcoming and sincere demeanor that gave me calm and reassurance. And, he and his staff are immediately reachable to address any questions or concerns, which further put me at ease. I highly recommend him to anyone with colorectal issues.

Dr Cohen is amazing! He did colon resections on both me and my mom! He is so caring and always makes himself available for his patients! My family loves Dr Cohen and we are so thankful for him! We would recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Cohen is awesome!! He listens and relates to my concerns. I have had quite a few doctors in my life especially this past year. He is the only doctor I have ever had to give me his cell phone and was told to call anytime day or night with any concerns. I have had to text him and call him on several occasions and he always responded. He provided the most excellent care . Highly recommend him and his staff.

Dr. Cohen and his staff are amazing. I would give them 10 stars! Dr. Cohen and his staff reduced my suffering, gave me a great plan for surgery and recovery, and the office visits were smooth and efficient. Little to no waiting in the lobby/exam room, and I also never felt rushed while he was in the room. This is absolutely top level care. I wouldn't hesitate to have one of my children operated on by Dr. Cohen if it was needed, that's how much I trust him and his practice.

Dr. Cohen and his staff are wonderful. I had surgery 3 weeks ago that I was terrified of having but Dr. Cohen and his staff made this icky experience the best that I could imagine it being. I would definitely recommend him!

Dr. Cohen is exceptional! I was up and walking the same day of my colectomy (3-20-18). I have worked in the medical field for years and find him to be focused, capable and a remarkably skilled surgeon. Additionally, he handled my port placement for chemotherapy and will surgically remove it Oct. 2018. He has my full trust and I would recommend him to all without apprehension!! He is readily accessible and open to questions/concerns. Amazing surgeon/gastroenterologist!!!! RMcF

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Jeffrey Cohen. I was billed for services not rendered. I was not provided with informed consent regarding the procedure and it resulted in an unexpected high out of pocket expense. Neither staff nor Dr. Cohen were helpful and the treatment was not beneficial. Hundreds of dollars were spent with no results. Just a money hungry practice without even a hint of patient satisfaction as a focus. Go somewhere else.

Dr Cohen literally saved my life. After a botched surgery with a different surgeon, Dr Cohen swooped in and saved the day. He was available to me at all hours of the night and day leading up to the 2nd surgery. It literally felt like he was taking every step with me and was there to not only perform the surgery, but to provide support all throughout the process. I definitely felt like Dr Cohen cares about me as a person, not just a patient. Lots of love for Dr Cohen!

Dr Cohen did my illeostamy reversal. It went great. Dr Cohen has great follow up skills. He listens and has great bedside manners. Very skilled surgeon and will tell you straight up what the problem is. He will call you on his personal cell phone and you can call him as well.

Dr. Cohen is THE BEST!!! He truly cares about his patients, and the staff at Northside Cherokee deeply respects him. He does all that he can to ensure the very best experience & outcome for every patient and every caregiver. Dr. Cohen is honest & candid, and he thoughtfully guides his patients through every detail of their health concern. Dr. Cohen was very friendly in my appointment with him, and he arrived to my room on time, without me having to wait long like usually happens with other doctors. He and his staff were very considerate during the appointment, and afterward when explaining to me that I needed surgery, he took the time to explain the overall situation with diagrams and writing out the exact procedures so I could look up. Surgery has yielded no complications, little pain, and I am recovering quickly.

Excellence in a surgeon is probably most often considered in terms of skilled performance in the operating theatre. While Dr. Cohen is no exception in this regard, his interpersonal skills set him apart from normal expectations. From the start, he put me at ease, warmly shaking hands, listening to my questions and answering them fully. From his surgical skills to his personal demeanor, Dr. Cohen is, in my opinion, the epitome of excellence. I am very comfortable entrusting my care to him.

Dr Cohen has been my surgeon since 1999 and he is the kindest physician. His bedside manner is excellent and he leaves no stones unturned. I trust him 100%! He has always treated me and my family as part of own since the first time we met in an emergency situation. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Cohen has performed a couple of surgeries on me. He has always been very attentive to my needs, listens to my concerns and explains conditions/procedures thoroughly. He is very caring and he is very thorough. He keeps his word, which is a rarity these days. His office staff is excellent, very helpful and friendly. They also are very dependable and will return phone calls, another rarity these days. Wonderful experiences with that practice.

I have had the misfortune of using the healthcare system more than my fair share for several years. I have learned that if there is ANY doctor in this world you may want on your healthcare team? Dr. Cohen has done several procedures on me and what I like about him is his confidence in what he does. I have a somewhat unusual case where he has had to adjust to the conditions. In addition, I went septic do to infections and he was with me every step of the way. I look for the day we don't have to meet like this:-) Great Job!
