The most negative experience I've ever had with a physician. His staff was fantastic, but Dr. Liu himself was unapologetically late, grumpy, and completely misunderstood the reason for my visit, as well as most of my questions. Horrible listener. Not at all the long-term cardiology relationship I was hoping to establish, but I quickly found someone much better at patient communication.

Great experience with Dr Liu. Very short wait time, his nurse was very pleasant and thorough with my medical history. Dr Liu asked a lot of questions and explained several choices of treatment. I will definitely see him again and I highly recommend him as a cardiologist.

Dr. Liu seems very compassionate, thorough in his physical and oral exams and evaluations, and attentive to our concerns. And our primary doctor says he’s the best in the State.

I'm not even a patient yet and the staff is rude. My appointment got canceled ,after I waited almost a month for my appointment, due to doctor emergency. So I was rescheduled with a different doctor. I started asking questions about my appointment and doctor the receptionist hung up on me and when I called back she told me she wasn't going to be verbally abused and hung up again. During my first and only visit with this doctor, he displayed the warmth and personality of a canned sardine and affected an attitude of icy dismissiveness. He didn't ask me any questions regarding health issues or medications. I had the distinct feeling that he didn't really care and that I was boring him. I asked a few questions and his responses were short and curt. I see that Dr. Liu has mixed reviews on this forum -- perhaps his mood fluctuates from day to day. My experience with Dr. Liu is similar to several others that have taken the time to write a review. Although his office has personal pictures of him and his family in every room, he didn’t come across as a personal individual. That being said; the main reason for the review was my experience with his office staff. The morning of my visit one of his staff members called me and said they had tried to call me several times in the past to reschedule my appointment. I found that odd because I carry my phone all the time and I didn’t remember getting any calls from them. I checked my missed calls and I was right. They never called! I had some test done and they never called me with the results. I had to call them and leave several messages. Eventually, I spoke to the Nurse Practitioner and she started me on a medication. She explained, start with half a tab and after two weeks if I tolerate it take a full tab once a day. I did that. And before the end of the month I’m ran out of the medication. So, I call the clinic and I was told they will not change the prescription to a full tab once a day because I’m not their patient. I explained, indeed I am their patient and I was prescribed the medication by the NP less than one month ago. I was told because I didn’t have a follow-up visit I was no longer their patient. I’ve been in the medical field 20+ years and I’ve never witnessed such callous behavior. It is my opinion, the culture in the office overall is dishonest and uncaring. Dr. Liu treats me now and has for many years for a variety of heart issues. He is cautious, thorough, and patient with me. I could not ask more from any physician. He and his staff are the best I have experienced anywhere.

He treated my wife Jennifer Watler and he was awesome he gave amazing information when asked and he was nice and cared. On a scale from 1-10 I give him 100

Not clear. Non- communicating . Spends visit with his face in computer. Not kind to nurses. Horrible!

Was looking for a Cardiologist in SA, although I currently am seen by VA doctors whenever it strikes their fancy. Dr. Liu was stoic and I didn't feel comfortable when he kept asking me why I wanted to be seen by him. He sent me for an echo test at the lab across the hall, scheduled a week later. On the lab visit, I'd inadvertently left my wallet at home, but I had an expired driver license I keep in the car at all times. I showed the front desk lady my ID and she said she verified my Blue Cross insurance, but they needed me to put a cash payment of $3.65 before I could have the echo test. I told her I didn't have any cash, as I didn't have my wallet. She got huffy and said I had to pay the co-payment! I made my humble apologies and left. I called Dr. Liu's office to politely complain about how I was treated by the lab. I then asked if there was another lab I could go to for an echo test and they said "No!" I cancelled my upcoming appointment with Dr. Liu. I guess I'll be sticking with the VA after all! Dr. Liu listened attentively when I spoke, and explained thoroughly the care he was recommending and the reasons why. I felt extremely reassured and confident after my visit with him. I highly recommend him.

I have been a patient under the great care of Dr. Liu for several years. During this time he has always answered any questions I might have plus he has continued to offer information about proactive care and habits that could help my daily activities be more pleasant, workable and effective. He is a physician who takes into account the "whole" picture of a patient...including the family situation and responsibilities, which are a huge factor in dealing with cardiac conditions. His office is well managed, efficient and employees are well educated in their responsibilities ,always offering the best of patient services and care.

I have been with Dr. Liu since July, 2016. Dr. Liu has provided the confidence that I need in my continuing cardiac care. His recommendations and follow-up have been spot-on.

My wife and I relocated to San Antonio last August. We searched for a cardiologist and learned of Dr. Liu. We have been well pleased with all aspects of his practice.

Dr. Lou was very polite and professional.

Very satisfied with the professionalism of the staff, they were very courteous and informative. They went above and beyond in looking and finding a set of car keys that fell out of my purse on the day of my first appointment. Dr. Liu explained everything to me, and I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Liu saved my husbands life! He is a world renowed heart specialist, kind, personal, professional, and most importantly caring. I say the same thing for his staff. We truly need more doctors like him in Texas! Thank you Dr. Liu for all you have done for us.

I allways walk out impressed by the warm TLC atmosphere, the service, concern for my health and treatment that I receive from all thete. Surely it starts with Dr. Liu his professional and caring manner that clearly permeates throughout his office and staff: Dr. Liu, PA, Nurses, Techs, Administrative, Front Desk Concierge staff, and the wellcoming place. Great to see that his office was adjusted to comply with social distancing including that everyone wore masks. I wore my mask and gloves. I feel that I am a compliant patient because of doctors such as Dr. Liu. Thank you Dr. Liu and your staff.

I feel he is the greatest Cardiologist in San Antonio and the best I have ever had, since 1994 and I moved to San Antonio in 2012. Dr. Liu is a kind and patient doctor who takes time to visit with his patient and is genuinely concerned for their welfare and their life in general. He takes the time to explain things to you and he is patient with your questions as well as a doctor who asks questions. This is something we rarely see in the business of doctors anymore, especially in a group setting. I have found him and his staff to be kind, caring and most of all patient with each individual. I think Dr. Jean Liu is an excellent cardiologist. He takes time to talk to me and to listen to me. He never hurries the visit. He is pleasant and personable. His nurse is also very competent and likable. Actually, all the staff I have interacted with are pleasant and likeable.

Dr. Liu ordered a blood test and an EKG before my appointment. He went over the results and lestened to my heart and all checked out good. He is the best.

Dr. Liu is fantastic! He is very kind, caring, and competent. He is particularly thorough at studying medications and screening for adverse interactions. For example, when my mother was experiencing extreme variations in her blood pressure, he worked with her ophthalmologist to change take her off of a specific eye drop known to cause blood pressure fluctuations. This resolved the problem. We are very impressed with Dr. Liu and his office staff. They are very kind. I am glad they are caring for my mother!

Dr. Liu was my father’s excellent cardiologist for many years. There is no doubt Dr. Liu helped give my dad many more years with usI Now I had my first appointment with Dr. Liu. His staff were excellent. My wait tine Before being called back was maybe 5 minutes and once his nurse had me prepped and an EKG done Dr Liu was in with in in less than 5 minutes. He was not in a hurry and looked over info I brought from my primary doctor, asked me questions and made a change to one of the medications I had been on for years and explained why. He then ordered one special test for me to have before we proceed further. I already know I am going to be under excellent care. Thank you Dr. Liu and staff!!

I never feel rushed during my appointments. Dr. Lui takes the time to explain thoroughly anything he recommends. Appointment was on time. Very happy with the office.

A follow up visit. Follow ups are every six months. As usual, excellent care. Known Dr. Liu for about 15 years and he is friendly, highly competent and always providing the highest care.
