Dr. Jay Allan Lutins

With four (4) other urologists to choose from in this practice, please AVOID Dr. Jay A. Lutins. I took my very frail 89-year-old mother to Dr. Lutins on January 20, 2023. We arrived 30 minutes early to fill out the required paperwork and provide a urine sample. We were ushered into an exam room around the scheduled appointment time. After waiting 30 minutes in the exam room, we asked when we were going to be seen. The nurse was surprised the doctor had not yet met with us and so, we left our exam room door open. We watched Dr. Lutins walk by our room for another 30 minutes before he graced us with his presence. He did not introduce himself, did not perform a physical examination, and did not review my mother’s medical record with her. He simply inquired as to how many incontinence pads she was using. When he heard the number (which is extreme due to total urinary incontinence) he feigned sorrow and said there was NOTHING he could do for her. He suggested we investigate an external catheter (for a woman who is walker/wheelchair dependent) and a medication (even though I informed him she has been taking a similar medication without success). Upon providing us with a one-month sample he left. We were stunned. He did not even bother to ask if we had any questions or concerns. After waiting one and half (1 ½) hours Dr. Lutins spent two (2) minutes with us. This could have been done over the phone! This is by far the WORST experience I have ever had with a doctor.

I was very pleased with the service provided by the doctor and his staff. I would definitely recommend his services and offices.

Very unsatisfied with this practice. Poor pre-surgery communication. It took multiple calls from me to get a hold of their scheduler to get my surgery on the books. The surgery after care at West Penn Hospital was below average. Due to a prescription allergy, they sent me home with nothing but an antibiotic after an invasive surgery. Post surgery care is even worse. Have been waiting 1 1/2 hours to get surgical equipment removed from my body. If you have another option, I would go elsewhere. Very unsatisfied with this practice. Wait times are usually at least an hour. He is always rushed and leaving the exam room before you have had a chance to ask all your questions Sometimes seems annoyed that you are even there. Appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes. You are lucky if you get over 5 minutes. I have had him leave the exam room after just 3-4 minutes. He just gets and and starts walking out while still talking to you.

Doctors are the one of the only types of business that can give you less than satisfactory service and still get paid. Dr. Lutins didn't look into my condition, and instead gave me an extremely unprofessional answer. I went to another doctor who instantly started looking into the problem, diagnosed it, and started treatment for it. I tried to negotiate getting my money back but they declined. Because of that, I will be sure to spread the word of his lack of professionalism and care for patients.
