Dr. Jason T Pickelman

Dr Jason Pickleman is a great doctor. The doctor took care of my husband. My husband thinks very highly of the doctor. The surgery with my husband's kidney stone was so perfect. The doctor is my husband's urologist.

I had an unnecessary kidney stone surgery today. I saw Dr. Pickleman last Tuesday regarding my kidney stone— it was at a size 4mm and was told it had not moved since June 30th and he advised chances are slim that it will at this point, so we agreed to this laser procedure— scope through bladder and up to the urethra because the stone was “apparently” above my bladder. After speaking to St Mikes’ nurse regarding my history and medication, I asked if they plan to do another scan to make sure it’s still in the same location, nurse advised me that there’s no order for it, but I need to confirm with their office. After our conversation, I immediately called his office. I spoke with Rachel, Scheduling Coordinator, confirmed with his other staff no scan ordered and I requested one. I drove all the way from Linden yesterday to the main Collom & Carney clinic to do the X-ray to ensure the surgery is needed because I have not experienced any pain or discomfort. From there, Rachel said he would review it in the morning and let me know. I never heard from him and assumed no changes. Today I went to St Mikes for my kidney procedure. When Dr Pickleman arrived to discuss any questions, I asked him about my scan and he had no clue about it. He immediately left to contact a Radiologist, who confirmed no fragments or kidney stones. Dr Pickleman was unable to view current scan AND unable to compare to my other two prior because information was at his office, Collom & Carney Clinic off Moore’s Lane. I asked his professional opinion, he believes it’s more likely still there, even after I explained no more pain the last few days but not seen a stone to my knowledge— I had an another kidney stone episode in 2014 and never felt passing through urination or saw it. Against my better judgement, I said in your professional opinion it’s still there, I trust you and agreed to move forward. After surgery, he found no kidney stones. He told my husband I probably passed it a week ago due to no signs of inflammation, mind you I have been taking meds— including Flomax, which will dilate your tubes. I do take responsibility for not trusting my instincts, however, if he would have take the time to ask his nurse to send information to the hospital and researched it more, I wouldn’t have needed it. Now I am out a hospital bill, his bill, anesthesiologist bill and all for nothing— this could have been avoided. So please be aware it’s important to have one done prior to procedure— it’s not recommended by him because most people “know when they pass one” but that’s not always the case. I don’t think he was a compassionate doctor, in a rush, and should have followed my instincts— I do not recommend him for future services. He was too vague with answers and unsure of himself. Please make sure you opt for a second opinion before choosing to follow through with him. I usually don’t go to doctors as I am pretty healthy, but this is a learning experience for my husband and I. He is the rudest person I have ever met. Very arrogant and rude to women'only does the kind of surgery he wants to do. Never asks or calls about how a person is doing after surgery. I found a new doctor in Little Rock and I am very pleased with him. Pickleman should be dismissed.

I had an unnecessary procedure today regarding kidney stone. I was told my stone was right above my bladder and at a size 4mm. I went to take another scan yesterday to ensure it’s still there as my pain and discomfort had subsided. Dr Pickleman was unaware of my scan and asked the Radiologist to review, which they confirmed no sign of stone or fragments. Dr Pickleman was unable to view or compare my last scans. He professional opinion was to move forward because it is unlikely it has moved. Against my. Enter judgement, he found no stones and believes I passed it several days ago— saw no inflammation. I am very disappointed how this situation happened. If he would have taken the time to review, I would not have needed this surgery. I realize people make mistakes, including doctors. But they need to reconsider protocol to do scans prior to procedure so this does not have happen again. I will not use him again for future services— to many vague answers and unsure results.

I called the lab and my results were in within an hour, they told me i would have to call Pickleman. So i called him for the results and never get an answer from him or his nurse. I then leave several messages and never get a call back. This is ridiculous.

My girlfriend went because she was told by a ER doctor she has 1 kidney and told her to make an appointment with Dr pickleman, my girlfriend went and he saw her for maybe 5 minutes and was very rude, my girlfriend asked why she was having pain and having a hard time with her bladder and he told her that he doesn't know and to "suck it up". Very rude and we won't be back to see you, we will go to someone who's actually professional. He had a great bedside manner and makes the patient feel at ease.

Has only one thing on his mind and that is finding a reason to do surgery that he cannot justify. Boldly arrogant as well, his nurse told me he allows patients to get a second opinion only if it is at Collom & Carney. He then schedules procedures without consent. A close family member of mine almost died because he rudely informed her all women get bladder infections learn to live with it.

Great bedside manner. Put me at ease and thoroughly explained my procedure. The procedure itself was a breeze. His staff was great too. Worked with my crazy schedule and rescheduled me twice.
