Dr. Melear is always concerned, knowledgeable and thorough. I trust his judgment and believe he provides excellent care. He has a great personality and never rushes you.

Dr. Melear has treated my mother, sister & me for breast cancer over many years & through lots of scary times. The well earned confidence we have had in him has helped us heal & we have all been blessed to have been cancer free for years after chemo, radiation & surgeries, under his care. Dr. Melear has gone out of his way to accommodate my special needs as I live part of the year in another country. Sometimes this causes scheduling inconveniences for his office but all changes are handled with an approach to accommodate what works for his patients. Dr. Melear gives his full attention but manages his schedule well, so there's not much waiting, Patients are partners in their healthcare. Health issues are discussed in a laid back manner & decisions are made together. Furthermore, Dr. Melear is on top of the newest medical breakthroughs to care for people with blood or cancer issues. Mandy, his nurse, is equally caring & helpful. There are only 5 stars available. I'd give 10 if I could.

I really appreciate having Dr Melear and his staff on my Healthcare team!

Always have a good visit with Dr. Melear, He explains everything very well. Gives me a chance to let him know what's going on with me. Never in a rush.

Great doctor. Very professional

Very on-time. He discussed the continuing progress in my recovery. He said that the minor anomalies in the blood work are common after cancer. They are of no concern. Many thanks.

My experience with Dr Melear was wonderful. He is caring, compassionate, professional, and he is completely straightforward and honest when imparting information. He has the toughest job in the world, and he does it well.

If you have to be diagnosed with blood cancer, I would highly recommend Dr. Melear. He answers all your questions and calms your nerves.

My annual visit with Dr. Melear went very well. I asked questions about remission and got frank responses regarding the pros and cons of discontinuing the low-cost, low-dose and relatively risk-free chemo med I have been taking since 2013. I chose to continue due to his clear explanations. He and his predecessor, Dr. Richard Halmer have been wonderful for me and to me.

Dr. Melear is a very knowledgeable, detail-oriented and caring physician. We cannot be happier or more grateful about our experience with himself as well as his PA, Katherine Lord. He spends a good amount of time each visit to analyze your condition and your latest symptoms with you, and answers every question in detail. His educative yet simplified analyses of my CLL condition gives me and my family the basic tools to understand the condition as well as the treatment, side effects and what to expect. His caring and compassionate follow-ups and his informative approach make us very confident we are in good hands.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Melear for about 7 years. He’s great. He’s very smart, and takes his time with you to answer all your questions.

Dr. Melear is an excellent physician for multiple myeloma. He explains my test results thoroughly and seeks my input on medical decisions. He is kind. His medical staff in the Infusion Room is very thorough and efficient. I am very pleased to be his patient.

I recently saw Dr. Melear after the hematologist who had been following me retired. I was a little apprehensive about switching doctors, but Dr. Melear put me at ease quickly, as he was very congenial, a good listener, and informative. I felt very comfortable and confident in his care and recommendations.

Dr. Melear is an excellent physician. He was my introduced doctor to whom I was referred to by Oncologist in Illinois. Also an excellent physician. He keeps a close watch on me and has referred me for tests to ensure my health. He stays on top of me as a patient and keeps himself prepared through his continuing education and self-education.

Always a pleasant visit

This was my first visit to Dr. Melear after my previous hematologist retired. He was very congenial and took time to answer my questions and assuage my fears. I felt very comfortable and confident in his care!

He spent as much time as I wanted/needed, discussing options, outcomes, etc., and once he felt I was sufficiently informed I made the decisions in my case (e.g., about getting chemo). Despite his full schedule, if a patient calls any morning, he makes it a point to get back to them that afternoon.

Dr. Melear is terrific, very intelligent and understanding. A pleasure to deal with. The Texas Oncology patient portal, however, is pretty lame. It’s not updated promptly and it’s unclear when individual items are problematic.

Jason Melear is an excellent hemotogist oncologist. He has been my Oncologist for 10 years and I recommend him to all Lymphoma patients.

Great DR who explains in detail and has a great demeanor

Dr Melear is wonderful. Informative, concerned and a good listener. His team of PA, RN and triage nurse reflect his commitment to the patient. I wish I hadn’t contracted AML but I’m darn thankful I am cared for by this team.

Excellent treatment: patient, thorough, considerate, professional. Cancer, never an easy topic, was handled with both candor and caution. Options were explained, recommendations laid out. I left feeling well cared for and confident.

Dr. Melear has been my Oncologist since 2015 after my breast cancer surgery. Breast cancer was a shock, but with Dr. Melear's guidance, I feel that I am receiving the best possible oncological care. When I started seeing Dr. Melear, he was located at the Bastrop office of TX Oncology. The office was 15 minutes from my home. When he relocated to midtown Austin, I made the decision to change to that office. I have so much faith in Dr. Melear's depth of medical knowledge, I have no problem making the much longer drive for my regular appointments. In my opinion, faith in ones physician is paramount in maintaining ones health. I feel fortunate to have Dr. Melear as my physician. He has a depth of knowledge that lets me relax and know that a) he's looking out for my health and b) he has the skills and tools required to keep my health at its optimum. Dr. Melear saved my life. When I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma it was the scariest day and a million thoughts were racing through my mind all at the same time. What would happen to my wife, my kids, my family...everything. Dr. Melear got me scheduled for chemo right away. Everyone at Texas Oncology was so nice and so helpful. You could tell they really cared. Dr. Melear explained my situation in an easy going manner that put me at ease. Dr. Melear took over care for me when we finally got to Texas❤️❤️????❤️ Permanently. That was less than a year after treatment in Chicago area for two early stage cancers. He was everything I needed- a Professional working in a state-off-the-art clinic. Besides that he treats his patients with respect. That includes clear prognoses and treatment protocols to choose from. I recommend him and his organization for anyone n the Austin area. Dr. Melear has been my doctor for several years. I have had cancer for 25 years and over that time I have had numerous different doctors but I can say that Dr. Melear is one of the best. He is very knowledgeable, kind and polite. He is never rushed and takes the time to answer all my questions. I am very thankful for him!!

I'm particularly happy with Dr. Melear because he is very knowledgeable of Multiple Myeloma that I am being treated for. He is very good at explaining how and why he recommends any treatment and is happy to explain what he thinks I should do if he is looking at a change in treatment options. Since he is up on current research of new treatments I feel good about him offering options on any changes that I might need to make. I will and have recommended him to others.
