I’ve been a patient at UR Medicine Menopause and Women's Health for many years. When Dr. Henry Hess retired, Dr. James Woods replaced him. Dr. James Woods has made numerous inexcusable mistakes with prescriptions time and time again. He is in his senior years with declining cognitive functioning. The this office is A-MAZ-ING! You know you are in the right place when doctor dedicates the whole first visit to getting to know you and educating you about menopause. And the staff is awesome; friendly and joyful! It is well worth the drive!

Dr. Woods is well versed in the issues facing post menopausal women. He is knowledgeable, caring, and truly helps women to understand the issues they may have to deal with. I strongly recommend him!

Great Doctor and very caring staff.

My prior OB/GYN retired and Dr Woods took over his practice. I have to tell you, he is one of the best OB/GYN's that Rochester N.Y. has. I am an RN so I know when I say he is kind and gentle. He takes his time with you, he never rushes you out the door and he will call you personally with any issues or problems. He is on time for an appointment and it is very rare that you have to wait, which is so important to me as I work full time. If you do have any GYN problems he watches you closely.

Dr. Woods is incredibly knowledgeable, experienced and skilled. He has an ongoing interest in the latest research regarding women's oncological health that he readily shares with his patients. More importantly for me, as I have been facing a health crisis, Dr. Woods has been one of the kindest and compassionate of individuals, giving freely of his time and support. I trust him implicitly to provide the highest quality of care: body, mind and spirit.

Our recent visit with Dr. Woods was amazing. He took time to explain very clearly important information to my daughter and myself. We left the appointment feeling confident Dr. Woods was looking out for the medical interests of his patient. We are thankful to have him at a time when we were extremely stressed.

At age 52 Dr. Woods told me that I was the perfect age to start taking care of myself as I begin to experience signs of menopause. He talked with me for an HOUR about why women's bodies go through menopause. I felt like he actually understood me and really wanted to help me. I've never had such a caring doctor before. After two weeks on his recommended treatment plan, I stopped ALL hot flashes and am not longer experiencing dryness. That's a lot to accomplish I think! So happy!!
