This doctor and the Family Practice Center only cares about milking the patient in whatever way they can, and charges unreasonable fees for even the most basic checkup. When you call the office for explanation, they will throw random and different answers at you each time. They promised to get back to you, but they never do. They would lie about the reasons for the charge using reasons that can easily be nullified if you ask for documented evidence. If they cannot even uphold basic honesty, why would anyone trust their medical judgement?

He is very knowledgeable, thorough and very personable. He always looks at my total health not just the part you are seeing him for but the total picture. This tells you he cares about your health and will take the time to discuss it with you. This is a great Doctor.

Dr. Wheeler has been my doctor since 2004. Dr. Wheeler and his team are absolutely phenomenal. His nurse practitioner, Missy Keith, is so personable and expresses genuine concern about my health! You will not be disappointed if you give Family Practice a try !

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Wheeler for decades. His entire team is always extremely polite, kind, efficient, and courteous. Almost 4 years ago, Dr Wheeler recommended MRI’s of my brain and cervical spine due to numbness in my hand. I told him I didn’t feel the brain MRI was necessary, but he insisted, so I had both exams. Long story short - a fatal condition was discovered in the brain (large nasty aneurism), and also in the cervical spine (spinal cord abrasion due to extreme stenosis). After 3 emergency surgeries (including a craniotomy undertaken - coincidentally and fortunately - at the exact moment of aneurism rupture), and 4 years later, I’m alive with a normal life expectancy. I’ll always be very grateful to Dr. Wheeler and his staff for their steadfast pursuit of my best possible health (and for saving my life)! I’ve been a patient of Dr. Wheeler for decades. My appointment was with Danna, a Physician Assistant, for a Medicare well visit. It was easy to set up an appointment since the staff answer phones quickly. However, be aware that the staff does not validate parking fees, you must also decide if you want to pay an additional $8 for every visit, in case they need to provide any paperwork for you. Before I went to the lab for bloodwork, no one knew if my cholesterol scores would be covered. I was told if they weren't it would cost me $30-50. "Besides", Danna said, "your scores don't change much". I was also asked to provide my social security number so that staff could check to see if the latest shingle injection was covered. I later learned from my insurance provider that all lab work is covered and a social security number is never required to check coverage.

Would highly recommend. Knowledgeable, and experienced, kind. Office is well staffed and well run which is hard to find right now.

I must say that my experience here was fantastic. I felt very cared for from every person I interacted with.

I visited FNP Missy Keith and she has a fabulous bedside manner and is extremely thorough in her examinations. I love ALL of the staff at Family Practice Center located in Sandy Springs, Ga.

Family Medicine provides outstanding care. Their medical staff provides both great general care and holds an impressive expertise in a variety of disciplines. They spend ample patient time and present an empathetic bedside manner. Rarely has an entire staff presented such an upbeat positive and supportive demeanor, from the front desk to the lab, to the entire medical team. Dr. Jim Wheeler, Nurse Practitioner Missy Keith, and Medical Assistant Erica Jones are among the extraordinary members of the team. Even making appointments is delightful. The scheduling folks are accessible, personable and collaborative. Getting an appointment at a reasonable time has always been possible. Finding a family medical practice is challenging. Finding an outstanding one like Family Medicine is a rare find.

Dominque in Dr Wheeler‘s office went beyond what I’ve come to expect. I feel she was very thorough during my visit and provided me with documentation of everything including previous blood test results. All of it was provided without me requesting it. She also personally called the pharmacy for me regarding my prescription and insurance coverage. After speaking with Dominique I felt I probably didn’t need to see the Dr. She made the Dr’s job and my life much easier. Thanks Dominique! Excellent service with care and concern for the patient

My first visit here was extremely disappointing. Not only I waited 1.5 hrs in a room to be seen, but also, I was seen by another doctor. It took about 3 min for the female dr. to Visit me and proceeded to tell me Dr. Wheeler would be right with me. After 1 hr waiting in the small room I complained. He then came and met me, for the first time, in the hallway and all he had to say was, he would follow up by phone on tests results. He never called me. The female dr. Who visited me did. She told me it was up to me if I wanted to do the medicine treatment, i didn’t actually qualify for it, but if I wanted, I could do It. Huh? I went to the dr. To get medical orders not to be left with the ball on my court on a condition that needed to be followed up. I asked her nicely, why isn’t he calling me? You are not my doctor. Of course she had him call me right after to probably prevent a negative feedback. He left me a vm. I will never go back. Feels like a factory, people in and out and you are just a number. Compassionate Doctor, Kind staff.

Jim wheeler and Dominique have been my primary care for over 30 years. First class in every way.

Having Been a Patient of Dr. Wheeler's for over 35 years, I can only respond with : Dr. Wheeler has consistently helped in just about every medical emergency that could be encountered from weight issues to finding skin cancers. I never feel rushed and always have a pleasant experience from everyone in his office. in fact, i feel quite sad to be moving as that means i will be leaving not only the medical personel but all that i learned to respect and basically feel they are friends,

I see Dr. Wheeler's NP, Missy. She is awesome! Great listener, responsive, etc. Everything I want and need in my GP.

I would no longer recommend this practice. This was my primary healthcare physician for 10+ years. Shining star Physicians Assistant Greg has retired. The only nice person left there is a nurse named Dominique. My wife saw them several times during the last 5 years and there was always a problem with either a rude staff member or sub par care. Billing usually always took more money than they should have and I would have to get a check cut for my credit. Last straw for me was during Covid in 2020, as the world was shut down, I was one minute late after the 15 minute grace period for my appointment, in the lobby, and they wouldn’t see me. No doubt it was partly my fault but how many times did I wait 30+ minutes to see a doctor after my appointment time? Numerous. So instead of helping me right there for several things I was coming in for, they only caused my blood pressure to rise and guess what, there was no courtesy refill on blood pressure medicine that had ran out for the inconvenience. All I wanted was another 30 days until I could reschedule… remember I’m in the lobby. Well Dr. Wheeler said no. I asked for either him or the office manager to call me to discuss and they did not get in touch with me. I decided that since the head of the practice had no compassion for the situation, there was no possible way to capable of providing me and my family care. It’s very unfortunate that the relationship ended as such, but it’s about caring for individuals, not being just a number. I would no longer recommend this practice. Dr. Wheeler is professional, warm and walked me through the entire process from pricing to procedure. I'm so grateful I had the pleasure to be seen by Dr. Wheeler. ???? 5 out of 5 recommend!!

This practice was great when I started but now on two occasions that have completely failed. Last week after finishing the preliminaries for a physical, they left me sitting in the exam room for 45 minutes. I ended up leaving without seeing the doctor. On Wednesday of this week, I called in for a prescription renewal. After making the request, I kept calling my pharmacy who assured me they too had contacted the practice and were waiting on a call back. Now, here on Friday afternoon, I just found out they want me to come in before filling a medicine I must take everyday. So I will go all weekend without this important medicine.

I have been coming to Dr, James Wheeler for years and always Reccomend him to friends, he has a lot of knowledge and really cares.

Having been referred by a friend, I only assumed I would receive the best care from a MD that could help me figure out what was the best treatment plan for my overall health. & that's just what has happened with my visits with "Dr David" Kim. The fact that he got my sense of humor was a plus!

Had the displeasure of speaking with Nicole on the phone. Was trying to book a preventative care appointment- first I waited on hold for someone to pick up, no problem there, and once I heard a phone click I go “hello?” And I get back “helllllloooo?” With an attitude that made it seem like an inconvenience for me to even dare call. Then, I asked when the next available appointment would be, she told me that if I saw a nurse practitioner it could be sooner than I doctor. I said “no that’s fine, this is for my husband so I want him to see a doctor” her tone immediately changed and she goes “okay so what do you want? Do you want an appointment or not? What do you want me to do?” As I work in customer service I just assumed that the logical next response would be “okay, here’s our doctors next availability” but I certainly wasn’t expecting the amount of attitude I got. Dr Wheeler takes good care of his patients. He’s very professional and patient. He does not recommend anything unnecessary. I feel blessed to have him as my primary doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wheeler's since 1977 when I was 11. We believe my mother was his first patient when he opened his practice and my sister and all of her children are seen at his practice as well as my family and numerous friends I have referred over the years. There is no other MD I would see for Family Medicine - period. In addition to the excellent care he directly provides, he maintains a staff from scheduling and intake through billing that is the best in Atlanta. You will not find a more knowledgeable and professional practice.

Incompetent front office and EVERY time I visited over the past 2 years, James wheeler treated me as though he had no idea why I was there or what my history was. Moving. I have been using this practice since 2000. I have been completely satisfied with the excellent service. I would highly recommend this practice because of the professionalism and knowledge. Dr. Wheeler saved my life twice when he picked up my prostate cancer and my heart condition in 2009. When I could not get an appointment with a cardiologist Dr. Wheeler called the cardiologist from his office and set an appointment. I had triple bypass surgery the next week.

I was 42 years old and got sick in Charleston. No diagnosis in the ER. Came to Wheelers office and he ordered a scan- CANCER. it was 2 on friday after noon and he called me at 3. Great job on his part. I was 42 years old.

I have been going to Family Practice Center since I was 5 years old. Dr. Wheeler and Missy Keith have been taking care of me literally my whole life as long as I haven't been in a different city. I trust them completely- My mother also had Dr. Wheeler as a PCP for 30 something years. I LOVE seeing Missy bc she knows all about me 30 years worth. I wouldn't recommend any other doctors office in the city. As long as I'm in Atlanta this is where I will continue to go for general health care.

I have been seeing Dr. Jim Wheeler Sr for over 30 years as my trusted General Practitioner. I am grateful for the many years of excellent care and supervision he has given me, including annual physicals and overall care and recommendations. The times he has referred me to a specialist, I have found those specialists to be highly competent and personable. I enjoy his likable and knowledgeable staff and the efficient way the practice is run. Dr Wheeler is always up to date on current medical knowledge. He communicates very clearly to me as to what I have done well, what I need to do to get better, what I might need to improve upon, or how new medical knowledge might impact me. I count my blessings to have such an accomplished and pleasant doctor to oversee my health care. The practice seems to evolve continuously over the years and stay up to date with current methods. Whether it is for my annual physical or for an illness, I have always been glad to be a patient.

Annual physical. Dr. Wheeler coordinates well with specialists and regularly has pointed me in the direction of very capable specialists when the need arises. He provides a comprehensive tracking of my overall health and hsas done so for many years.

Domonique takes care of me and my chart. She makes sure I am up to date on all my shots and prescriptions.

Dr. Wheeler has been my primary care physician for many years. He is genuinely concerned about both my physical and mental well being. His staff is courteous and professional. On line portal makes scheduling and follow-up very easy. No long waiting times as with other doctor's offices.

I started seeing this doctor a couple of years ago which I thought was pretty good in spite of his condescending tone when talking to me. Truth came out when I had an issue and he ordered test that he couldn't explain to me and when I started asking questions he wasn't professional and showed no concern but said things that was demeaning. I don't how he is able to get five stars because he is certainly anything but that. He has a fake facade and is the worst doctor ever!

Despite several years of good service, one bad prescription from wheeler family practice nearly cost me my life. No matter your diagnosis, do not let them prescribe you finasteride. This drug has caused persistent side effects that have never gone away.

After years of going here, my recent experience has completely turned me off from this practice. After calling at 9AM to have an urgent prescription filled, I called the office back at 4 PM for confirmation before going to the pharmacy. The receptionist informed me that the prescription would only be filled if I scheduled an appointment to come into the office first. No one called me to inform me, but I had to call them.. and the office closes at 5 PM. Not to mention that I had an obvious missed diagnosis earlier this year. I had to visit the office 3 times in the span of two weeks. I no longer feel like they care for the patient’s well being, but they’re more interested in paid office visits that meet their quota. I went to see Dr. Wheeler because of the good review. After only one regular visit, I feel that this doctor is not for me. I paid $298.19 for a back pain visit. That's ridiculously expensive for a family doctor's visit. Plus, I was told that I need to make the payment on site right after the visit even though I have insurance. That gives me no option to argue with them about the charge. I also want to warn everyone who considers this doctor to be very cautious about the questions Dr. Wheeler asked. To me he was trying to trick you into a situation so that he can change the medical code to bill more. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place, because to me all they care is US dollar. Dr. Wheeler is the one of the top doctors in town. However, the office staff is below average. You cannot get any information or help from them. They avoid taking calls if you are not calling them to pay the bills. They will repeatedly put you on hold. Everybody is very professional. Getting the appointments is very easy.

I’m a longtime patient of Dr. Wheeler and have received good care over the years. Occasionally, he could be more attentive to certain issues, but overall, his care has been excellent.
