Quality of follow-up, response times and caring has gone way south. There appears to be no quality control whatsoever. While Dr. Strickland may still be a leader in his field, trust is gone now and the relationship broken. 8 weeks without results, no follow-up, changing story on who was to do what. We are done here. Last two visits will be 1 to sign release and another needed to pick up files, apparently. Business and success must have gotten in the way of quality care. Sad. My name is Wade. I would not recommend James Strickland . I have chronic Afib, which means I am always suffering from skipped beats, irregular rhythm, and unprovoked extreme elevation in heart rate. Sometimes as high as 180 bpm. It was decided that I would have an ablation and Dr. Strickland would perform it. He did, with the following results. In recovery that evening and the next morning, I experienced a severe shortness of breath. Strickland told me that it was probable just a reaction to the medication and not to worry. I left the hospital and the shortness of breath did not abate. Through a number of tests by my other physicians, I learned that Strickland managed to damage or sever my right phrenic nerve and the result was the paralysis of the right side of my diaphragm. Due to the configuration of the lobes in the lungs, essentially I lost about 60% of my breathing capacity. It persists today, some three years later. In addition, the ablation procedure did not work and I continue to be in a constant state of afib. Strickland did not follow up with me despite a couple of visits to his office. He contended that the condition would repair itself. It did not. I have not heard a peep from this fellow since. Take your chances folks. I wouldn't. Without the newish Texas tort reform, I would have been handsomely compensated for having the rest of my active life destroyed. At the very least, he could have invited me into his office, acknowledged the mistake, and apologized for leaving me with a lifetime problem. I think by any definition, it was malpractice. This was my first visit to Dr. Strickland's office. I didn't see Dr. Strickland as this was for more of an information gathering meeting, which was conducted with his Physician's Assistant, Janelle. So this review is about the doctor's office and staff, and not him directly. The rest of the staff was great and it was nice to have a real person actually answer the phone rather than getting one of those automated menus when I called to set the appointment. When I got to the appointment, I was able to get right in, and after taking some vitals, was able to meet with Janelle quickly. She certainly asked a lot of question and we reviewed my health history focusing on my heart and circulatory system. When I talked she was a very attentive listener and didn't interrupt me. And when I brought up the fact I've been using the six lead Kardiamobile device to check my own EKG daily, she didn't try to pass it off as useless and a waste of money like most medical professionals have. Instead, she acknowledged it's usefulness and it's limitations, encouraging me to continue using it, but do so with prudence. A few days after my appointment I needed to call the office back as a reminder of a medication I was told to replace with a new one (I'd forgotten the name of the one I was supposed to discontinue). Again, I got a live person on the phone who was able to pull my chart and tell me which med I needed to discontinue, and reminded me of the new one, as well as another new one I'd forgotten we discussed. All in all it was a good visit and follow up, and I can recommend the staff highly. Dr Strickland is by far the best electrophysiologist I have ever had! He is very friendly, and explains everything in a way that you can understand. I never feel rushed, and he answers all my questions thoroughly. The office staff is very welcoming and friendly as well. I would definitely recommend Dr Strickland, he is a great doctor!

I have used Dr. Strickland for the past 7 years for Afib. He performed my ablation 5 years ago. He is down to earth and actually listens to you, which is a rarity. I never feel rushed. I learn from him, which is NOT something I can say about most doctors. Im not the type of person who follows anyone, blindly, I have to know why. He provides answers.And my Afib? I have stayed in cardiac rhythm for 5 years and going strong.

Dr. Strickland is one of the most professional and caring doctors we have ever run across . Extremely smart and accessible. His entire staff put the patients needs above everything else . He is one of the top electrical cardiologist in Houston .

Dr. Strickland and the entire team are absolutely awesome!

Dr. Strickland and staff are amazing. I have afib and he patiently waited until I was ready for ablation. And, he walked me through it, step by step. He also offers late afternoon appointments, thus, I don't have to miss a large chunk of my work day. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Strickland is a fabulous doctor however the staff are not very professional and I have had a very difficult time getting a copy of the paperwork showing what I was charged for.. nobody ever answers the phone and half the time they won't call you back.

On my 1st visit, I was coarse and impolite. After seeing 6 other Doc's, I was fed up with the testing, just to hear the same thing, "you have a healthy heart." I was so wrong! He tolerated my unmannerly behavior and had sympathy for my situation. He is genuinely concerned and his empathy is absolute. I've had 5 ablations and I'm PM dependent. Now dealing with PM syndrome. He is a great doctor. His staff, however, should be sent to charm school. The one that reads the PM transmissions, FIRE HER!

Excellent doctor, he made me very comfortable. He listened to me and my concerns, he explained everything he was concerned about. I would recommend him to all my friends. However his office staff needs work

Dr Strickland is amazing......he not only did a heart ablation on me monday , but he also took out a pacemaker that another doctor put in and I didn't need. He is so caring and explains everything so that you understand it. My only wish is that I would have got to him sooner before I got a pacemaker I didn't need. I have never felt as confident with a doctor as I have with Dr. Strickland. If you have any doubts about your procedure I can say that you will be in very good hands with the preparedness, thoughtfulness and professionalism Dr. Strickland exhibits.
