Dr. James R Spears

I am very happy with the care my husband received from Dr. Spears and his team. Everything was very organized. We felt well-informed leading up to surgery, at discharge and afterwards. He took time to thoroughly inform me how surgery went and the the steps he took during the shoulder arthroscopy. I would highly recommend him!

After reading the other reviews of Dr. Spears, I totally agree with the majority. I’ve had 3 appointments with him. At most, he spent 10 minutes total. The “LAST” appointment I had was an 8:45am appointment I arrived at 8:40. After waiting 30 minutes, I checked with the receptionist and, was told, he always over books. I had another appointment which I missed. After checking two more times. I finally got into a exam room at 10:25am!! I had sat in a waiting room for almost 2 hours, full of people coughing and sneezing to have my shoulder checked.He was in the room at most 3 minutes! In my opinion, his ego is way beyond his skill level!

Very bad experience! He did shoulder surgery on me and afterwards in recovery he told me, it needed to be replaced. Then he replaced my knee and I have had nerve pain ever since! I would never recommend him to anyone.

Excessive ego, poor people skills. Mocked and bullied me when I had questions/concerns. Very hurried and appeared to be bothered to see me as new patient.

Dr. Spears did my arthroscopic shoulder surgery in Feb 2013. I had an amazing outcome and had a "hole in one" on July 4th, 2o13! We laughed and he said, "Didn't you know I guarantee a hole in one with my surgery's?" LOL! Now here it is March 2018, and the other shoulder has gone to hell, I wish I could have Dr. Spears do the surgery again, but he is booked too far out, and I can't wait that long, because I'm in too much pain.

He was horrible. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone! He completely blew off my injury to my knee and basically said because I have been in to the ER for pain and due to my you age it is unacceptable. I didn't know that due to him being a doctor that he was able to dictate who can and can not be allowed to have pain and how they deal with it. I was told by him mind over matter and to deal with it. I have never been so disrespected by someone in my life.

We were extremely disappointed with our appointment, Dr Spears spent 2 minutes addressing my pain and treatment needed- and 20 minutes lecturing me on being overweight and telling me "next it will be heart disease". He was rude, uncompassionate and offered me no help or relief for my pain. We were very upset after the appointment and very discouraged. We did not wait a month for an appointment for weight management therapy- we came for a consult for knee pain. We do not recommend Dr Spears

He's extremely arrogant and likes to hear himself talk. He can be very overbearing and demeaning. He may be a good technician...if you can stand to be around him. I wouldn't go to him again if he was the last orthopedic surgeon on earth!
