I have seen Dr. Shade before and he is always so friendly. I recently called to schedule an appointment with him and the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude. This office is open on the days I am available (the other location I go to is closed on the days I am available)….I am dreading calling because I know I will have to go through her to get an appointment. Definitely need to talk to her about how to be friendly over the phone. Not a good first impression of this office when that’s who you talk to first. I called to see about getting an appointment and the lady who answered was so rude! The dr may be decent but his staff is awful!

Dr Shade is wonderful but the older lady that works there seems a bit incompetent and she has been there for a really long time. She was very confused and very unorganized.

Dr Shade is the BEST eye fr around. I had a cornea abrasion and thought i was dying with eye pain and unable to see. I called them less than 5 minutes of them closing and they stayed open for me to come in! He is always very nice, extremely intelligent, and all around a wonderful man. The receptionist always has a beautiful smile one her face! She's always very welcoming and caring as well. I will NEVER go to any other eye dr in my life! They are so phenomenal. Great service and bed-side manner!

I love Dr Shade. I first went there because Walmart in Durham did not have a doctor and now I go there because he is great. He writes a Rx for everything contacts, clear and color, and for glasses and the Rx was right the first time. Great doctor. I don't mind traveling. and his receptionist is great as well. She taught me a lot about not just getting my contacts in but also about card making machines LOL. Yup. I don't mind traveling there for great service. I love Dr Shade. Great "bedside manner". Professional, helpful, pleasant and he knows his profession. Would recommend him to anyone looking for a good optometrist.

Dr. Shade is thorough in his examination, very competent, and very knowledgeable. My daughters, grandson, in-law, my husband and I have been going to him for years. My husband had a detached retina and surgery with Duke was arranged that day. He explained what it was and every thing that would happen to my husband with the surgery and was as he described. Much appreciated. He is easy-going and makes patient feel comfortable with his exam.
