He examined me from head to toe. My appt with him was 1 hour and 15 min. He is amazing! I am an R.N. and have never had a physician spend that much time with me. He is such a compassionate man and he listens to everything you need or want to discuss. I would highly recommend Dr. Schumacher!!!

I am a lady from New Zealand,.Spent time housesitting in Siesta Key for a friend, whilst recovering from a spinal cord (incomplete] injury. As a NZ RN I was looking at the hospital one day, and met Dr Jim, in a corridor, .... I was a little bit lost, as a nurse I was interested in seeing certain areas of the hospital, plus wanted to see areas of neurosurgery that might deal with my specific injury. I met Dr James in the hallway, he approached me, as I was quite lost, and he was SO helpful, and stopped and we talked. He gave. Me some directions, as well as chatting to me about my mishap...central cord syndrome.,.( one a very mild case) thankfully.. Any way James, I would like to tell you things are going well since my ACDF (Ant Cervical Fusion) but Iwill always have to deal with the spinal contusion.... eg hand and feet leg numbness, but that is my new normal.... I am adjusting I want to say how lovely you were to me that day... we met . I always remember you. With kind thoughts to you in these difficult times. Christine . Jim Schumacher is, without a doubt, the best physician I ever encountered in my life. The most knowledgeable, the most up-to-date, with the best so-called "bed side manner". He's a friend as much as a doctor to his patients and really if you need neurological services anywhere in the country, fly to Sarasota and see Schu. Period.

Well just meeting him in the halllway was amazing, I really liked him .... a real gentleman. He was he Paul as I was a bit lost .

Dr. Schumacher is a very pleasant, caring physician who is extremely intelligent. I would never go to anyone else for my neurosurgery needs and will be extremely sad if he ever retires. Wonderful man! I am also very pleased with his receptionist as well. She is helpful, gets back in touch with you quickly and has a good personality. Highly recommended! There is no comparison. He is the best. I worked in the Operating room with him years ago. He is truly gifted and I feel honored to have worked with him.

Two months ago, Dr. Schumacher operated on my neck to release a pinched nerve at C5-C6. It was a success! He is a very conservative surgeon, who prior to even talking about surgery, had me try PT and other things.

About 5 years ago Dr. Schumacher operated on my lower back to repair arthritic damage. Going into surgery I had full confidence in the doctor and years later I still believe he is one of the best doctors I’ve ever had.

Dr. Schumacher is an excellent doctor who takes the time to explain the procedures and get to know his patients. He is highly regarded by the staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital as several of the staff stopped by to check on me and expressed his abilities as well as stating his humor.

Dr. Schumacher personally welcomed me into his office. His happy greeting and smile set a positive tone for the time with him. He was totally prepared to discuss my case. When I arrived I had set my mind that a difficult surgery and worse recovery lie ahead. A detailed explanation and visual demonstration showed me options that are non surgical!! His brilliance is laced with humor and I spent a visit to remember. THANK YOU Dr. Schumacher. I learned so much. Brilliance & humor!! Barbara S

Dr Schumacher performed surgery on me in 1994 I recovered full functionality. He was informative and professional and I highly recommend him.

I first discovered Dr Schumacher through a recommendation from a Board member of the Sarasota Memorial Hospital. I have been very pleased and satisfied with my doctor/patient experience with Dr Schumacher as well as enjoying his interpersonal relationship skills. He is by far a terrific doctor and person.

This Man is not just the brightest person I have ever met !! He feels for the patient , He takes the time to explain all the details of your situation and is just such a caring, Kind Man. I am pretty screwed up with just more than what Dr. Schumacher was seeing me for, He took his time to go so far and above what any Doctor would have to lead me in the direction I should have been shown YEARS ago. God Bless You Sir! BTW, I never give anyone, business , 5 stars. This is my 1st and last

Great doctor, easy to talk to. Dr. Shumacher operated on my back for sciatica and relieve the horrible pain. The time it took for recovery was just as the doctor said it would be. I am able to do what I want pain free. It has been two years since the surgery.
