Dr. James W Nicholas

I visited Dr. Nicholas maybe 4 times and was given a common Rx for stress. First time on meds, I was experiencing some side effects that I wanted to discuss. At my appt he was condescending and dismissive of my concerns and wouldn't change the Rx to find a better fit for me. Each visit I had to refresh his memory about why I was there, which was alarming. He told me at one point that my GP could prescribe for me so during my yearly checkup she changed the Rx to something with fewer side effects. My next appt with him he was hostile about this and made an incredibly off-base accusation about why I'd changed meds. This was the second time there had been a combative feel with him and I'd had enough. I got up in the middle of the appointment and left. I got the distinct impression he enjoyed his authority and the power he had to invalidate my concerns. It felt off from the beginning and I should have followed my instincts. There are plenty of other providers out there. Avoid this one.

Wow, he used the term nuts. As a new mother suffering from insomnia and depression, he called me "nuts". He also tried to claim that I was delusional. Only exhausted from lack of sleep. I'll never recommend Dr. Nicholas.

I. had a terrible experience with the Front Desk staff with three catty, insecure women who lied to Dr. Nicholas about the incident. He called me and assured me they treat everyone the same. Without respect, regard, or compassion. So I stopped going & will never go back. They aren't there to help people, obviously.

Willingness to listen to you. Encouragement to continue to move forward on correct path for my mental health.I had say in my treatment plan.He is straight forward and professional. Shows concern and empathy.

This is the most disappointing experience a patient could experience. Dr. Nicholas is not looking to help anyone other than himself. He doesn't seem to make notes or remember what his recommendations are from one appointment to the next.

I've seen several Psychiatrists, and Dr. Nicholas BY FAR spent the most time with me in order to make an ACCURATE diagnosis. I was being treated for something completely unneccessary (diagnosed by another), and since seeing Dr. Nicholas I've been able to get off 3 medications (with ugly side effects) my life has improved!! I owe it to him!

Great doctor if you want a psychiatrist that knows the latest trends, compassionate yet no-nonsense and sends you on your way with the right mix of meds.
