Reviews for Dr. James L Moeller
My daughter has seen Dr. Moeller... - My daughter has seen Dr. Moeller a few times in her life, since she's 17 years old and a soccer player. He is a fantastic sports medicine doctor, and I would always go to him.
Dr. Moeller was very pleasant and put me at ease. He explained everything he was doing and why and what the results meant.
Dr Moeller has treated me the past 15 yrs or more. Ive been able to live a extremely active lifestyle with his care and diagnosis’s Ive alleviated pain and kept at 59 years old mtn biking, slalom water skiing, downhill skiing, weight training, tennis, walking. I go to him every time something hurts or gets tweaked. I guess you can say I trust him with my what matters most to me staying active, healthy, keeping the wheels on !
My whole family sees Dr Moeller and he always finds the problems and resolves it. Always very professional and knowledgable.
*Dr. Moeller was great. Explained plan and possible outcomes. He was sensitive to my concerns.
He was kind and knowledgeable
With two active kiddos, we are here a few times a year to see Dr. Moeller. He is always friendly, informative and advises us on what is best for their recovery. We can always get in right away, which is so important with sports injuries. Almost no wait time in the office once we check in.
I was able to get an appointment quickly. Location and parking were great. Super nice and friendly staff. I was taken in at my appointment time and was seen by Dr Moellner a few minutes later. There was no time where I felt myself waiting. Xrays were right there on site. Dr Moeller went over my results with me and explained all my options. I asked a lot of questions which he took the time to answer. I would highly recommend him.
I felt he was arrogant, dismissive and assumed instead of listening. I will find another physician to treat my problem.
My entire family has seen Dr. Moeller for years. He is my go to person if I have pain. Dr. Moeller is professional, thorough, listens, does not rush you and explains everything. I leave with a plan that allows me to return to my activities.
The lack of communication in this building is definitely not the greatest... Doctor Moeller took me off work last week due to a shoulder injury and put my arm in a sling and ordered a mri. I've been trying to get their worthless secretary Emily to fax the paperwork over to my employer for a week and they still haven't received it. Smh. I mean, how hard is it to fill out 2 pieces of paperwork and send it back? I just don't get it.... In the future I will never use this doctor's office again. Worst experience ever. I was referred to Dr. Moeller by calling Henry Ford and asking to see a hand specialist. I injured my hand and the pain I was feeling was excruciating. Dr. Moeller was very condescending, and interrupted me multiple times as I tried to explain where I was having pain. I could not turn my wrist or straighten my fingers out at all. His dismissive attitude and lack of empathy was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced from a Dr. before. He even disputed the severity of my pain insinuating I was not telling the truth. Really? Trust me when I say I would not have sought out a medical “professional” during a pandemic if my pain was at all bearable. To add insult to injury after the horrible consultation I was informed that they were out of the wrist brace I needed and that I had to go somewhere else to get it. I left with no answers and my pain continued to escalate. I’d give a huge thumbs down, but I can’t turn my wrist. Thanks for nothing Dr. Moeller Worst experience ever. The office is exceptionally clean. The staff is very friendly and efficient! I had a through examination by Dr Moeller, he explained his findings in detail and answered all of my questions.
I was reading some of the reviews on this site and while some are from a couple years ago, I am stunned with some of the negative responses. I’ve seen Dr. Moeller myself and and have taken all 3 of my sons to him multiple times over the past 10 years plus and I have never had a bad experience. Dr. Moeller has been awesome in how he interacts with both myself and my kids. He is thorough and explains things well. I highly recommend that you go see him for any of your sports injuries. Highly recommended! Dr. Moeller is thorough, professional, frank, and his top priority is getting you safely back into your game. Best if all, he holds his patients accountable for being engaged and empowered in their treatment and therapy, which provides greater overall recovery and outlook. If you want a doctor that sugar coats things, he's not your guy. Dr. Moeller is the doctor you thank, when you earn your medal or trophy (or can get back on the tennis court pain free) for identifying and carrying out the treatment plan that was best for you, the individual.
I was able to get right in to see Dr. Moeller. It was quick and easy and I even had X-rays in less than 20 minutes. He reviewed the X-rays with me and explained what a stress fracture is clearly and showed me on my X-ray. It was really nice being a part of the process and gaining knowledge of my injury in a more comprehensive manner. I appreciated the time he and his staff took to see me and work with me.
Dr. Moeller was fantastic with my teenage son. He took the time to really explain his injury and answer all of our questions. Would highly recommend, especially to high school athletes.
Thank you to Dr. Moeller for seeing my son so quickly! Our visit was with Dr. Moeller and staff was wonderful. He was efficient, pleasant and extremely knowledgeable.
Went to see Dr. Moeller regarding knee pain that I had for a while. He asked me questions about the problems I was having when they started, how it was affecting me, and things I was doing on my own to address the issue. He then reviewed the Xrays and explained what was going on options that I could take now, and things to think about in the future. Very pleased with Dr. Moeller's bedside manners and help.
First and last time. I was referred to Dr. Moeller by calling and requesting an appointment through Henry Ford phone system. I came because my wrist and forearm were in unbearable pain. He condescendingly interrogated me about my pain level. Saying I didn’t know what I was talking about according to his assumptions. And because my pain didn’t happen from an obvious injury, he made it seem as if I wasn’t telling the truth. Trust me when I say I would not have sought out the help of a medical “professional” during a pandemic if the pain was at all bearable. I was told to wear a brace, which they of course didn’t have and required another trip elsewhere. In addition I want to share that this was by far the very worst bed side manner ever experienced. His lack of empathy and completely dismissive manner was in a word despicable. I’d give a thumbs down but I can’t turn my wrist. Thanks for nothing Dr. Moeller.
The office staff is great- very efficient and friendly! Dr Moeller was very thorough and answered all of my questions. Very caring!

I’ve been taking my accident prone daughter to Dr. Mueller for 5 years. The office is very professional and friendly. Service is impeccable. Never had to wait more than a few minutes!
We have had Doctor Moeller on our speed dial for years. Having 3 boys in multiple sports, it’s been great to know we have someone we can trust and who is very good at what he does! He has a team of caring individuals behind him, too. There is never a long wait to get an appointment, or at the office. He values our time!
Unfortunate policy of charging $50 to cancel an appt on the day. My appt was canceled twice by the Dr. yet I had to pay $50 when I had to cancel due to a work commitment. Will not be returning as my request to reconsider the charge was dismissed.
I waited a LONG time to see the doctor. The doctor was nice and very knowledgeable, but I felt that he rushed through my appointment and didn't give me an opportunity to ask all of the questions I had. What I am most disappointed in is that I was not notified of the transition to the Henry Ford system, which happened to be the day of my appointment. I asked the front desk if my visit would still be covered under my insurance and was told it would be. I received my bill and nothing was covered. I was able to get a discount and the customer service rep at Henry Ford was great, but I still ended up paying double my copay!! Will definitely not be going back to this office. Rude doctor. He told me I had a broken foot. Went there the second time, two weeks later. No pain in my foot, but he still kept me in a boot and crouches. He recommended six more weeks for the boot. I went and got a second opinion, and this doctor saw me and started laughing and saying your foot isn’t broken. But he recommended that I should take it easy WITHOUT the boot, and notice if pain comes back. So far I have no pain. This doctor was Dr. Cohen located in Farmington. I suggest you go to him. If you're looking for a true "sports medicine" doc who appreciates your athletic pursuits and will work with you to help achieve them, don't waste your time here. Also, there has been a complete turnover in staff recently; some of which are not adequately trained to be dealing with patients.
Just pure laziness from the staff. Had a bone scan ordered by Dr. Moeller and his staff has just now started to work on the authorization even after multiple calls from the hospital. Have had to reschedule twice already and still have no idea when the authorization will be done. Lazy staff, they don't really listen to your concerns, and most importantly don't do their job in a timely manner. Also doesn't help that I watched the two front desk staff members essentially calling a lady stupid after asking if she could use the bathroom. Just disrespectful and stressful. Don't recommend Dr. Moeller or any of his staff. He is knoweladgle no doubt or disrespect there. Just pure laziness from the staff. My husband, son, and self are all committed to various sports and have seen a lot of Dr. Moeller since I was lucky enough to find him in 2004. He is the best and is completely committed to the best care for all of his patients. He maintains an excellent network of doctors specialists in surgery for sports injuries and has always connected us to the best of the best ( 2 hands, one wrist, five shoulders, two knees, and 2 backs are just a few ). He even has Dr, Kyle Anderson, a top notch orthopedic surgeon in his office. When our very close freind’s international elite young athlete child had an injury we immediately called Dr. Moeller. He fitted them right in and has been their go to ever since. He is a great guy and a really, really excellent doctor These bad reviews make no sense to me as my decade plus of experience has shown him to be a doctor who cares deeply about my family’s care, whether he can provide it or or whether he is referring us to another doc. I have no idea what these poor reviews are talking about. Dr. Moeller and his team were incredibly efficient and thoroughly professional. From the time we entered to the time we left, we had a consultation with the assistant/nurse, a consultation with the doctor, which involved an interview and a complete physical exam of the affected area, an X-ray, and a second consultation with the doctor, wherein he prescribed PT (which has solved the problem). The TOTAL time for the process was 25 minutes, from the moment we hit the door to the moment we left. During that time, his entire staff was kind, empathetic, and professional. Dr. Moeller and his office are the epitome of what I wish every experience with every doctor could be. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have no idea what these poor reviews are talking about. I had multiple injuries on my lower legs and he told me he could only look at one and to pick the most important one. I told him I'd been struggling with them for awhile and was hoping they could looked at in relation to each other since it's quite possible they were all related. He would not. He was abrupt, unhelpful and his physical exam was very rough. Listening to my history, situation and concerns was definitely not a priority. He gave me no next steps. A complete waste of my time.

Horrible bed side manor, actually yelled at my 15 year old son during an appointment. Nothing positive to say him, only interested in ringing up your bill for profits not taking care of his patients.
Avoid this doctor. He met with me for less than 10 minutes (and he seemed dis-interested). He sent me to an OT who was actually helping, then I heard that I needed to go back for another office visit with Dr. Moeller for an evaluation to continue with the therapy. He had taken ZERO measurements in our initial visit, so he would have NOTHING to evaluate / compare - it is 100% to get the money for another office visit. Note: I've met my deductible and this visit would cost me nothing - I'm not going back out of principal - this doctor is more interested in $ than healing. Avoid this doctor. Dr. Moeller is great! My son injured himself at Soccer tryouts. The School Athletic Trainer recommended us to him. Very attentive Doctor. Explained the injury very effectively. Would recommend Dr. Moeller to any anyone looking for a Sports Medicine Doc.
I have taken my daughter to see Dr. Moeller for two different sports injuries. Dr. Moeller was highly recommended by numerous people at my daughter's high school. I was not disappointed. I have found Dr. Moeller and his team to be very friendly and professional. The office is modern and clean. I took the time to read some of the reviews and noticed a pattern with one reviewer who gives one star in almost every review. My take is that this person is very negative and unhappy about everything. Its a shame that professionals and people in the service industry can be affected by such people in a negative way. Don't pay attention to that person. 5 stars all the way around I say. I have taken my daughter to see Dr. Moeller for two different sports injuries. I have been to Dr. Moeller numerous times, he has the ability to tell you just what it is that is wrong, how to deal with it, and what is needed to deal with the injury. He has always been spot on and is very understanding. I highly recommend Dr. Moeller for injury.
I am training for a 1/2 marathon, I am 58/female. Saw dr mid July; 1/2 marathon mid-October. Pulled muscle. Dr. minimized my concerns, took minimal time w/ me and basically said I couldn't run the race. He acted as if my questions where a bother to him. His staff tried to make excuses saying he was stressed, taking on his partners patients. That did not matter to me. Needless to say I went to another dr; Iam in PT, seeing a masseuse, AND am almost completely back too 100% + running the race.

The office staff is horrendous. Our son was sick, running fever and we called and cancelled the appointment. They've still charged us $25 for "no show". We called the office and they deny ever speaking to us. Avoid this horrible service. There are better physicians in Detroit than this. P.S. If I could I would give 0 stars. I am an ultramarathon runner and often have problems to find a doctor taking me serious ????. Dr. Moeller does that and helped not only to run again - he treated me as a partner and athlete - more a coach than top down style. Great experience! Thanks again!

Wonderful experience. Great with my son, easy appointment scheduling. They made us feel completely taken care of. Excellent.
Great doctor and great diagnostician. I am a physical therapist and my patients that see him speak very highly of him. If you have foot or ankle pain, knee pain, or back pain, Dr. Moeller is the guy to see.
He is extremely knowledgeable and is very good at getting you back to full activity as soon as possible

Dr. James L. Moeller. Awful. I walked out of his office in worse condition than when I walked in. I won’t return. I had someone with me and we both are in agreement.....The staff is apathetic. None of them smile or say hello. Notice the giant crack in the floor of their lobby. Also, there is a putrid odor coming from their ventilation system which they all are aware of, yet do nothing about. Dr. Moeller says it is coming from the restaurant below, but It smells like a dead animal and breathing is difficult. Dr. James L. Moeller was apathetic as well. He is NOT friendly, does not listen to my concerns, and did not read the paperwork I filled out beforehand explaining my present physical condition.
