About Dr. James Thomas Kelly
Reviews for Dr. James Thomas Kelly
Dr. Kelly had been our family doctor for years, had seen relatives of ours, and though he's cautious and thorough he is neither kind nor a good listener. As a teenager, back in 2014, I was going through a short period where I was trying to be vegan, but I was struggling to find food to eat that 'checked all the boxes,' so to speak. Because of this, I was rapidly losing weight. Dr. Kelly, on seeing this weight loss, didn't ask me what was going on. Instead, he looked me in the eyes and asked, "Are you struggling with an eating disorder?" When I said no, he said, and I kid you not - "Are you sure? You aren't doing a little bit of the --" and then he pantomimed sticking his finger down his throat while making gagging noises. With my mother in the room. You can't make this up. I'm running out of characters for this review, but this isn't the last instance of appalling behavior, it's simply the worst. Would not recommend this doctor in the slightest.
It's taken me years to be able to write this review - the way Dr. Kelly treated me as a teenager has damaged me for a long time. I sincerely hope he's changed. I know this review is long, but I hope you read it before you consider seeing or bringing your child to see Dr. Kelly. When I was a senior in high school, facing all the insane stresses that seniors face, I developed some really severe anxiety. For those of you who have experienced severe anxiety before you know the physical manifestations are alarming - chronic feelings of chest pain & tightness, shortness of breath, and feeling as though your heart is racing. After months of misery, my sweet & wonderful mother finally took me in to see Dr. Kelly so we could make sure nothing physical was going wrong with me. Dr. Kelly had been our family doctor for years, had seen relatives of ours, and though he's cautious and thorough he is neither kind nor a good listener. Testing was done, which was all well and good, and I was referred to several specialists, each of whom were wonderful, patient, and kind. However, it was during a follow-up appointment with Dr. Kelly that I experienced the most appalling behavior I have ever seen from a medical professional. It's worth noting that, at the time, I was also going through a short period where I was trying to be vegan, but I was struggling to find food to eat that 'checked all the boxes,' so to speak. Because of this, I was rapidly losing weight. Dr. Kelly, on seeing this weight loss, didn't ask me what was going on. You aren't doing a little bit of the --" and then he pantomimed sticking his finger down his throat while making gagging noises. With my mother in the room. You can't make this up. I was mortified, and he continued to talk over me as I tried to explain what was going on. It was exhausting and I decided it wasn't worth trying to explain anymore. In addition to this, in this same appointment, we were going over some bloodwork and there were some strange numbers that he remarked were indicative of someone abusing over-the-counter drugs (which I was not doing). He offered no other explanation, did not seem interested in any attempts to help me find out if there was something else going on, simply threw the accusation out to my mother and moved on with the meeting. During one of the most vulnerable times of my life, I have never felt more completely humiliated and brushed off by someone I was supposed to be able to trust. I never returned to Doctor Kelly, but I hold him responsible for the anxiety I feel every time I seek medical care in any capacity. I've been fortunate to have many kind, patient, and humble doctors since, but I will never forget the way I was treated while under Dr. Kelly's care.

Weather was bad. I was 15 min late and said I had to reschedule. Took time off work. Just needed to have a script refilled. Unacceptable. Dropped him after 10yrs. Not worth the drive.

This doctor only wants your money and doesn't care about your well being! Required me to follow up on a referral which was not needed and when I didn't pay for another visit for nothing he refused to treat me! Total ass!!!! Do not go to him unless all your want is to give him all your money!!!!!!
i moved to Olmsted Falls recently and hadn't had a PCP for yrs, so i found Dr. James Kelly in network w/ my insurance and his location was right around the corner. Although his bedside manner is pleasant, , He was very unhelpful to my needs. i came in for a specific problem i'd been experiencing for a MONTH, pain and numbness in my left arm, and he immediately told me to go to the ER!!! are you kidding me? didn't he have any idea how much that costs!! and i'm in the darn doctors office and you cant diagnose me!!?? You;re a freaking M.D. left a very bad taste. i moved to Olmsted Falls recently and hadn't had a PCP for yrs, so i found Dr. James Kelly in network w/ my insurance and his location was right around the corner. AVOID!! I missed a couple appointments with Kelly, appointments for which I did not call in to cancel. I understand that it was my responsibility. It was something that should be done- common courtesy. I take full responsibility for that. But things happen. There are reasons, but I'll make no excuses. Soon after I received a letter telling me if I didn't reschedule with their office I could no longer seek medical services from The Ohio Medical Group, assuming this would only apply to his office and the handful of other doctors located at the same small facility in Olmsted Falls. I didn't particularly care for this doctor's bedside manner on previous visits and never planned to return to his practice, so I simply ignored the letter and eventually sought another primary care provider. I soon learned this minor slight against Kelly would severely limit my ability to seek adequate healthcare. I AM NOW BANNED FROM SEEKING THE CARE OF ANY DOCTOR IN THE OHIO MEDICAL GROUP because of this minor infraction. The Ohio Medical group is a huge organisation that comprises a very large portion of medical practitioners in this community. Almost every doctor's office I contacted through my insurance has now told me they can't accept me as a patient because of this man, and that organisations irrational policies. Other than the mistakes I mentioned there were no other infractions or difficulties. I was, and I am always polite and respectful. Should each of them wield so much individual power? My ability to seek adequate healthcare is extremely limited now, so take this as a cautionary tale. I have nothing for disdain for the vindictive way I was treated and am strongly considering pursuing this further through TOMC chain of command whatever good that will do. Treat people like human beings. We are flawed. We make mistakes. And maybe, just maybe, a patient's well being should take precedence over time, money, and one man's (or one woman's) inflated sense of importance. AVOID!! Dr. Kelly also dropped me as a patient around the same time as the above review. He diagnosed me as having uncontrolled diabetes and prescribed metformin. I reacted to metformin and notified Dr. Kelly via email, he emailed back to stop taking it and he would talk to me in December, 2 1/2 months later???? He know my father was a double amputee along with my cousin and knew my fears and yet could not talk to me for 2 months!
Dropped me as a patient for not getting my blood work done before my next appointment. Classless act! I told his receptionist (since he didn't speak with me direct) that I had a death in my family and it slipped my mind. I asked for her to let him know and I never heard back from him.

I've personally been going here since I was in my youthful ages. I have never had a bad experience with them. I highly recommend Dr. Kelly to anyone looking for a remarkable experience and great feedback on your diagnosis.

I have been seeing Dr. Kelly years, recently I have been ill and have made many trips to his office. I am not upset with his failure to diagnose me, but more so his lack of listening. I recently tried another doctor and within two days he diagnosed me and treated me. I now feel 100% better. Thanks for nothing Dr. Kelly.

I was referred to Dr. Kelly about 10 years ago. From the first visit, his kindness, demeanor, and interpersonal skills were much better than any physician I'd ever visited. His diagonoses and advice have been spot-on. I would highly recommend him!
