Reviews for James Henry Johnson JR.
Avoid this Pediatric Neurologist if you have other options! His assessment skills are limited to a short conversation and not a thorough exam of the patient. He quickly writes scripts for kids expecting that to be the solution to the problem. I did not feel as if he accurately diagnosed migraines before recommending a medication that had strong side effects for a teenager. Check to make sure he is in your network; otherwise he will charge you $375 for 30-45 minutes of his time where not much happens. He only has what appears to be one staff person (who did not do her job with verifying my benefits before arrival), limited patient hours and an antiquated office. Front office person is not nice or helpful. I have never encountered such rudeness from a physician AND front office employee when trying to make payment on a bill. They are overcharging for the services they provide. Go to All Children's Pediatric Neurologists or someone else. There are better physicians out there.

My daughter suffers w migraines and Dr. Johnson has been fantastic w my childâs care! He is always attentive.
Just horrible experience, No bedside manner and didn’t even acknowledge my son. I spoke to him 2mins and all he wanted was to prescribe medication without any evaluation or testing.. I Do not recommend him.
Dr.Johnson's diagnosis technique and his medical integrity are questionable. I will not recommend this doctor to any parents who seek help for their children. One and a half years ago, my then 4,5 years old grandson was seen by Dr.J over my daughterâs concern about her childâs behavior. She said that he was often restless, had a lot of energy, and had "too vivid personality". Without any test and further observation, Dr.J. concluded my grandson's condition and immediately prescribed an adult dose of ADHD medication. Over this time, my grandson's personality has changed for the worse. Now he has no interest in his usual activities, his appetite went down, and he complains of headaches and brain fog. Moreover, any intense physical activity brings my grandsonâs heartbeats immediately so high that he gets dizzy and needs to rest. There were no blood tests or any other tests before administering meds to know any medical conditions that might increase these medications' side effects. Till now, there are no tests done to see how these meds affect his general health. My grandson's father recently raised a concern that his medication affects his personality and intellectual abilities. He says his son is not like he used to be. He is not very happy, doesn't like sports anymore, not singing or dancing as he used to, sometimes aggressive, and has no interest in creative activities. He asked me to go with him to Dr.J's office to find out why his son was given the medication and what steps were taken to make a diagnosis. When we came inside the office with our masks on, we noticed that the office staff was not wearing any COVID-19 protection. Dr.J expressed a light feeling towards wearing a mask and didnât put on one after we asked about the COVID-19 safety policy. The lobby was unclean, the children's toys were all over the place. Tiny Dr.J's office had toys scattered around and did not allow any social distancing, especially with the doctor without a mask. We asked Dr.J what steps were taken to diagnose my grandson with ADHD. Suddenly Dr.J became hostile, aggressive and overprotective of his level of expertise. He directed his anger at me, threatened to call the police, and "throw me" out of his office. When my grandson's dad tried to reason and emphasized the concern about the child's health, cognitive and physical development based on the child's complaints and observations, Dr.J began screaming at me in front of my grandson and his dad. I had to get up and leave the office not to escalate the situation. Working as an educator for 30 years, I know there is a protocol for confirming the diagnosis, and other people from closest to the child's environment have to provide the observations(i.e, Speech Therapist, Kindergarten Teacher, ext) We were not asked to provide input! Dr.J misled my daughter and assured her that his knowledge and child's neurologist expertise is sufficient not to follow the protocol requirements of ADHD diagnosis, not provided her with other options, and immediately prescribed the adult dose of medication to the 4.5 years old child. My daughter totally relies on what he says and would not listen to my concerns about our boy's health and development. When my grandson's father asked about Dr. Johnson's opinion on stopping medication use, Dr.J's response was, "if you want, you can do it. It is fine with me," and he did not express any concern on how the ADHD diagnosis would be addressed. When the dad pointed out that the correct protocol was not followed to diagnose the boy, Dr.J said, "If you want to do it, I know few doctors who can do it, but it will cost you a lot of money." Of course, we are going to do further formal testing and hopefully, we will find a doctor who follows the diagnostic protocol and develops a comprehensive plan if treatment is needed.
I would put a zero star if I could. My daughter has been suffering with headaches for over two years. We walked into his office and it was full of toys all over the floor. When he went to examine my daughter he just looked in her eyes and her ears and then asked a couple questions and then wrote a script. I tried to ask him if he was going to try to find the root of the problem and he said “this is what I give all my smart kids are coming here with headaches.” When I asked how long she should be on the medication he said till she Is done with puberty (which is in seven years.) Reluctantly I went to get the prescription filled and when I got there he had not even sent the prescription in. So we had to wait till the next day. After being on the medication for four days my daughter started showing signs of depression. Her headaches didn’t even improve. Because of the weekend, I had to wait two more days to call him. He suggested that I DOUBLE her prescription. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Then he said I could come into the office and he could write me another script. When I complained about doing that and having to pay almost $200 for him to do another script he said that I could get a second opinion. Well today I got a second opinion. The New neurologist did a lot more during the examination. When I told the Dr that Dr Johnson did not do any of the test she was doing, she said, “this is all normal testing”. That Dr is trying to find the root of the problem with a MRI. She only charged me $187 when Dr Johnson charged me $375 and he barely did anything. My daughter even said, “that was a waste of money” when we walked out of Dr Johnson office. I would put a zero star if I could. My daughter has been suffering with headaches for over two years. Excellent Doctor. My daughter has been under his care for almost nine years. He explains medical diagnosis and conditions in layman terms, not fancy lingo. He is not a medication, a happy doctor. He orders pills as needed...using the go low and slow. He explains the reason and rationale for drugs so the parent can make an informed decision. He office manager Cindy is knowledgable, personable, and helpful. He has great follow up. Excellent Doctor. My daughter has been under his care for almost nine years. If I could give 0 stars I would i don't understand how an alleged pediatric drs office can have such a short tolerance for children. It's absolutely astounding to me that their staff have apparently had 0 interaction with children before. The rudest staff I have ever encountered at any Drs office. Apparently you have to be able to get a 2 year old to fall asleep at the snap of your fingers or else you don't know how to control your childI wouldn't send my worst enemy here to use their bathroom
