Had to see him bc my PCP was on maternity leave. I been in ER night before about past blood clots bc thought I had another clot .ER vascular doctor told me get referral so I called office told them what I needed & was scheduled with him. He decides to start talking about my back problem. I had to ask him to focus on the reason I made the appt, that I know what's wrong with my back. He said he was good to his patients but I am not his patient. He gets up walks out. No concern for my emergency & basically stealing money from insurance by no medical treatment . Tried make me go along w/ his back shceme I kept saying i am not here for that and you know it why aren't you focusing on my vascular referral. He is Complete Jerk. I called spoke w/ nurse at office told her I been to hemologist & went to ER at diff place & both recent ultrasounds were totally differant exact opposites & ER vascular surgeon said," I needed a referall to get into vascular clinic bc I needed eliquist bc clot was from above knee to ankle. told them where to get ultrasounds.I had dvts befor Dr. Hicks said he got only 1 report. I made him copies & he refused to look at them or take them. I try asking him for d dimer test & referral he constantly interupts me & starts talking about my back. I told him I am not going to be exam for back or go therapy or see chiroprator, would he please stop intrupping me & focus on the issues I came here today. He said he refused to look at ultrasounds or referral or even do a d dimer test. He said " he takes very good care of his patients that I am not his patient & I should wait for my doctor return off maturnity leave." I said is complete waste of my time & insurance. I could die & refuse to listen

Was going to give 3 stars but they are kind of hard to deal with. Dr Hicks seems uninterested in listening to me as a patient trying to describe my physical and mental health. I get cut off while talking, feel judged for prior unhealthy choices in my life, and thrown on a medication that is supposed to help with my issues.... On top of having to call multiple times to get something sent to my insurance company and i still haven't gotten a return call. I will find another practice in knoxville. Great doc, great office. Been going there for years and Dr. Hicks treats each problem at hand effectively and efficiently.

When I came in with a high blood glucose level, Dr. Hicks and his staff shamed me--YES, SHAMED ME for a medical condition. Yet on their website they state that "Diabetes Managemen" (yes, THEY misspelled it on their own web site) is one of their treatment specialties. And they must have a rough clientele because there are posters all over the walls about "doctor shopping" being illegal and how they will have their patients arrested. AVOID THIS DOCTOR AND HIS PRACTICE LIKE THE PLAGUE.
