Dr. Essell and his team made my marrow donor process an absolutely amazing experience!!! I left the hospital only hours after the procedure with ZERO pain and never used any of the pain meds. They made me feel comfortable, no anxiety or fear at any point! 5.8 Million cells, 1450cc of marrow harvested and sent to South America to save a life. Appropriate fluid replacement and unit of my own blood given, making the recovery easy!!! Completely amazing experience e from start to finish!!!

Dr.Essell has been my dr for over 10 years & I always know when seeing him & OHC that I am in great hands. Before finding him I was ignored and misdiagnosed with my blood disorders but he is always very thorough and takes his time to make sure he is covering everything that needs to be. I would highly recommend him or OHC to anyone that needs a hematologist.

The visit was a two month check up following a bone marrow transplant in September of 2021. Dr. Essell always addresses all my concerns and carefully monitors my current health status.

Always the best care

My visit was a follow up review of my lymphoma status based on resent testing. With Dr. Essell's expert guidance I feel very comfortable I'm on the right path forward in dealing with my health. Dr. Essell also noted some additional vaccinations that would benefit me which I will do. I feel I have found a very competent health care provider that's a joy to work with.

Dr James Essell and Ohc has taken excellent care of me since May 2015. They do an awesome job here and really care about their patients. I can't say enough good about them. I recommend them to everyone in need.

Dr. ESSELL Is one of the best hematologist in the city. He is on top of my issues and has done so much to improve my quality of life. He listens to his patients and is there for them. A 5 star physician at OHC.

I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Essell in charge of over seeing my cancer care. I see alot of different doctors and it is not clear they are coordinated in my care. Dr. Essell gives me the confidence that there is a single point of contact ensuring decisions get made that are right for managing my health issues vs. Just giving me another prescription in a silo with no consideration for all of the other medicines I am on. Dr. Essell takes the time with me that I need to feel good about my recovery.

He explained the prognosis very clearly, He is very thorough and examines the patient carefully, up to spped in the latest medical and clinical development with respect to blood cancer. I strongly recommends Dr. Essell.

Being diagnosed with cancer is frightening and you feel helpless. You think about your mortality and how it will affect y family. Everything is new and what you read on this internet is mostly unhelpful and a little scary. When we met Dr Essell and his team we began to feel more at ease. Dr Essell explained my cancer in a way we could understand, listened to our questions and clearly laid out a plan of treatment. When we left that first day we were confident we found the right doctor. My cancer diagnosis required a stem cell transplant as part of my treatment plan. We knew Dr Essell had a great reputation in administering stem cell transplants and has an excellent success rate. Although we had many concerns before and during the transplant, Dr Essell was there at every step of our journey. I am in year 4 of my treatment and see Dr Essell about every 4 weeks. He saved my life and we would strongly recommend him to help you navigate your cancer journey!

Dr Essel is an awesome oncologist. I have been a patient of OHC since 2016. After I was diagnosed with Cancer for the 2nd time, I was referred to Dr Essel from another great oncologist of OHC. Dr Essels expertise helped me to go into remission. He is very passionate about caring for his patients. This man, and his staff, are one of the most compassionate group of individuals I have encountered. I had an excellent experience with Dr. Essell, he and his team helped me to overcome my life threatening disease of CLL through his great knowledge and care. Using cutting edge therapy drugs and common sense, he has guided me along my journey. I highly recommend him to anyone going through this scary and confusing disease. He explains things in a way that is very understandable and is very kind in his approach, which helps to overcome the fear and confusion.

I have recommended Dr. Essell to everyone who has blood cancer. Cannot speak more highly of him. He is thorough, knowledgeable, caring, personable. I am usually there by myself. However, if a family member is present, he will take time and answer any questions they have. I would wait any length of time to see him, but he is always on an acceptable schedule.

I have seen Dr. Essell for many years for treatment of multiple myeloma. I have always found him to be competent, knowledgeable, caring and concerned for my well being. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is in need of the very best of care. I am thankful that he is a part of my care team!

I have had many visits over the past 3 years with James Essell, MD department. Most very professional, though some are new to practical practices where logistics are concern, typical scheduling is not simple stress for patients and friends but a new set care. Shalom

Dr Essell is an excellent physician that truly cares about what is going on with you. The only thing keeping me from providing 5 stars would be the length of the wait on some occasions, but not always.

I've been seeing Dr. Essell for 11 years now. He hammered my AML in 2009 and I have been in remission from that for about 10 years. He continues to treat me through the highs and lows of an assortment of autoimmune diseases. We have seen some improvements as well some failures over the years. Dr. Essell's continuing positive attitude and UNBELIEVABLE bedside manner (whether bedside or chairside) continues to buoy-up both my wife and me through the tougher times and the better times as well. Health check and treatment

I am a retired nurse and was careful to pick an oncologist who not only was knowledgeable about current treatments for my leukemia but also compassionate. He is a doctor that consistently listens to me and never rushes through the visit. Dr. Essell takes time to answer all of my questions about new research or existing treatments. I get a timely response when I have had issues between scheduled appointments. I feel fortunate to have him as my oncologist.

I saw Dr. Essell in Dec. 2020 for my six month checkup. I have been in remission for Lymphoma for 6 years now. Dr Essell is a very caring Doctor. He told me my blood test came back good and saw no signs of the Lymphoma returning any time soon. He is an excellent Doctor and I thank him for saving my life!

Overall, it was a great visit as always! These visits are always difficult when you know it's time for an appt. however Dr. Essell makes it easy and it's always nice to see him. He has taken care of me for years and I completely trust him. He cares about his patients and works tirelessly to insure a favorable outcome if at all possible. He is an expert in his field and I have on occasion recommended him to others in need. Of course no one wants to be in this situation but if you are, let's just say I am very glad he is on my team!

I was treated by Doctor Essell in 2014 and have been in remission since that time. I have been very happy with the treatment from Doctor Essell and all the nurses and personnel at OHC

Dr. Essell saved my life. I was a 54 year old healthy woman when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma. I didn’t believe the diagnosis. He met me 2 days after Christmas and I started treatment a week later. 2.5 yrs later, I am cancer-free. His staff is awesome!

In 2012 I was diagnosed with non-hogkin lymphoma and was immediately treated with R-CHOP. I continued with Rituxin therapy for 3 years under the care of Dr. Chua at OHC. I was cancer-free until August 2019, when I was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell lymphoma. Dr.Chua referred me to Dr.Essel and we decided the best plan for me would be an autologous stem cell transplant. Dr.Essel made that happen. I am very pleased with the care from Dr.Essel and my entire OHC team. I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone fighting any blood cancer.
