Dr. James L Caplan

A nightmare!! This doctor, a pulmonologist, misdiagnosed me with asthma, without having me go through readily available basic tests that would have shown -very clearly and at the outset - that I did not have asthma! In accordance with his wrong diagnosis, he obviously prescribed for me erroneous medication which was expensive and useless. It was only after my own elementary research on the web, that I asked him to have a simple test done which showed that he had indeed misdiagnosed me. An arrogant and intense man, that showed no true interest in solving my health issue. Avoid him like the plague.

Very hard to get an appointment. Never calls back to follow up after lab tests or medical procedures. He seems to be medically outdated. Does not read diagnostic reports thoroughly. Completely misdiagnosed our case and ruled out the main root cause, although it was suggested as the most likely reason in the imaging report (which he did not read or notice). Dr. Caplan is the best ???? . He listens and communicates with his patients in a way that is not speaking down to you. Returns calls in a timely matter and is not prescription happy. I have tried for three days now to make an appointment at this practice and for three days I have been told the same thing: Carla is with a patient right now, she will call you back so you can make your appointment. But guess what, Carla never calls back and when she does it is at a time in which they knew I wasn’t able to answer. Even today when I called for the third time I was told the same thing. I even specifically asked if Carla would call me back today. I’m sure you can infer what didn’t happen. Have been seeing Dr. Caplan since about 2018 because I have had shortness of breath on exertion. He pays attention to details (like family history), looks for contradictions in medications, and does not hesitate to order appropriate tests to try to determine what the problem is exactly He is an excellent communicator, patient, thorough, and understanding. His staff are wonderful. I am so appreciative for his nurse, Ms. Aldana, who is one of the best nurses I have experienced. This is a most caring, compassionate office, which is difficult to find when combined such wisdom and brilliance!

Dr. Caplan is the best doctor I have ever met. He cares deeply about his patients and always goes above and beyond. He has helped my family so much on many occasions. Words cannot express our gratitude to him.

Dr. Caplin is an absolutely amazing doctor. He really cares about his patients and goes above and beyond to make sure they get every possible medical diagnosis. He is a brilliant Pulmonary Dr. with a vast knowledge of related issues as well. He leaves no stone unturned when it comes to tests and referrals using every diagnostic tool available. You will be very lucky if you get to see Dr.Caplan. There aren't enough stars to rate him high enough.Honestly don't know what I wd do without him. He makes sure you get stellar diagnostic analysis before he makes any decisions. He is very thorough. He is by far one of the best dr's. Dr. Caplan has been my primary physician for more than 5 years. He is focused, very knowledgeable, compassionate and attentive... couldn't ask for better M.D. or care.
