My mother passed away over a year ago. The office of James Bertz billed Medicare for services long AFTER her death. I don't even recall her ever being a patient of his. I was her caregiver and I think I would have known if she ever went there because I drove her (she couldn't drive any more) to all medical appointments. I absolutely love this doctor and his assistant, Lynda. After a year of battling TMJ, he was able to operate and fix it. Within 1 week after surgery, I was beginning to heal to the point of eating normally. Within 3 weeks, you couldn't see my scar without looking for it and am now able to yawn. The first review I've ever written and felt compelled to write because of the experience. By far the most helpful people I've encountered in terms of medical visits. Carla (I believe the receptionist's name is) helped me re schedule an appointment due to contracting covid. She was extremely helpful and kind throughout the process. Dr. Bertz was amazing too. 87 at the time of the visit but still sharp and witty. Loves to talk about baseball and was lucky enough to meet CY Young when he was young, no pun intended. He got an autograph and can't find it... which is hilarious. The nurse that showed me to my room was awesome. Everyone just had a refreshing, old school way about doing business that you don't find often anymore. You might wait a couple minutes, but you'll get outstanding care. Hope this helps. Dr. Bertz is a great doctor, he is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I highly recommend him for all OMFS needs

This is seriously the best place to go if you have a broken jaw!!! The office is so nice, clean and comfortable. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Dr Bertz is so nice, asks you all the right questions and really cares about your well being. I highly recommend this place!!

The front office staff was amazing as well as the techs & the dentist. I've gone close to 20 years with no dental work and my teeth have been decaying for over a decade. The staff made me feel like a human being empathizing with me and offering options on how I could repair the damage I've done to my teeth. They worked with me financially to be able to obtain the services I needed during an emergency. Other dental offices have degraded me for the appearance of my teeth, so it was nice to be able to go in and be treated with respect even with the poor choices Ive made that ultimately helped with ruining my teeth. I couldnt feel more at ease with everyone there. I'm extremely appreciative for their kindness, professionalism, and timely manner. this is a long time coming but thank you dr. bertz. you saved my life. you noticed something on my swollen tongue that 3 other doctors never noticed you sent it out for a biopsy and it came back as a very rare disease called amyloidosis normally by the time it’s discovered you need a transplant you referred me to mayo where i have been undergoing treatment since september right now i’m doing very good with no side effects and the doctor thinks by january i’ll be on maintenance so, my wife thanks you, my kids thank you and most of all i thank you( you know you said that dr.). really really thank you. Front desk staff is horrible. Came to my first scheduled appointment just to be told that I was not in the system at all. So I drove an hour for nothing. I rescheduled to give it a second chance. I called the day before my appointment to make sure they had my records and of course they didn't. She said that she'd call my referring office for my records. The day of the appointment I called before leaving for my appointment to make sure they had my records and they didn't besides just the referral note. This is pure incompetence especially when they have been told multiple times to ask for my records especially since they completely blew me off the first time. At this point I told her I am not ever going back. Not saying anything negative about the doctor, I haven't even met him unfortunately. 5 Star Service, Excellent Quality

Horrible office staff, I called multiple times to find out if they put a claim into my insurance never heard back. This was for a second opinion spent $175 for them to never file a claim or call me back. I called and asked for Dr. Bertz to call me back and he never did. I have never been so disappointed in a physician before I will not recommend him to anyone. Dr. Bertz never even called my orthodontic which he told me he would. Go to someone who cares and don't waste your time or money. Once I filed a grievance with my health insurance the front desk girls were even more rude to me, which should never occur when you put in a grievance. They claimed they lost my file and couldn’t find it, which questioned what they did with it for HIPPA reason. Then I was working at Banner health one day and was talking about oral surgery and a family member had used Dr. Bertz and now her left side of her face was paralyzed from nerve damage. So I thanked the universe that I never went with him. It was a sign, stay clear of this MD. The original appointment took 2+months to schedule. Then the surgery was to be two months (approximately) from that appointment. However, when I called the day before to check on the surgery, nothing had happened: no procedure cleared, anesthesia, etc. Finding another surgeon in my network was not easy. on top of that I had other issues (like infection and bleeding disorder) that they were not willing to address. Dr Bertz is the kindest and warmest Doctors. He listens to all your concerns even the stupid little ones. His staff reflects the same warm compassion. I would recommend this office to anyone and everyone

Dr. Bertz has rebuilt my skull after a serious motor vehicle accident. The best doctor I have ever had is Dr. Bertz. He is an amazing and compassionate doctor. I'm glad to have him as a doctor.

Dr. Bertz is amazing. He listens to you, asks lots of questions and tries to gwt to know you as a person. He is a really caring doctor in my opinion. 10 years ago he did jaw surgery on my husband and afyer not seeing him for a while he remembered him perfectly! That was what sold me on going to see him about my jaw pain. He is old school. No computer in his exam rooms. Just you, him and his assistant. I have complete faith in him as my future surgeon. Dr. James Bertz is if not one of the best, he is THE best in the valley. He's so genuine. Listens to all of your problems, concerns, or issues that you may have. His staff is probably one of the best medical staffs that I have ever came in contact with. I had an issue prior to my surgery and his medical assistant stayed until 6:30 PM to help me sort it out. Albeit having insurance difficulties, Dr. Bertz has never let me down. I am still currently under his care and I am forever grateful that he has taken on my case after many doctors have denied it due to the complexity. :) Thank you Dr. Bertz & staff !!! Dr Bertz was able rebuild my mouth after a very traumatic incident. Do to some other health issues, he had to do some unique things in order to keep my from bleeding out while he worked on me. He and his staff are wonderful, I am glad that he is also part of the Scottsdale Osborn Trauma Center Team. My wife says I look better then before the incident.
