Dr. James Ziegler Appel III

I was referred to Dr. Apple from my breast surgeon Dr. Turk. I couldn't be more pleased, and confident with the staff and Dr. Apple. I have been well taken care of during my breast reconstruction. I would definitely refer a friend.

Dr. Appel and his wonderful staff are amazing! He did my tummy tuck and Panniculectomy. The results were better than I ever imagined. The staff was always patient and courteous. The staff was also very helpful and informative. I would definitely rate him and the staff 5 stars. I have already started recommending him to others.?

Biggest regret ever! Breasts were never the same size though that is what he was supposed to be doing. Implant was too big, painful and just wrong. I was told to "wait and see" though it was obvious that it was wrong wrong wrong wrong!

My experience with Dr. Appel was okay as far as his kindness. However my results are terrible. I feel like I should be on the tv show “Botched”. I had a breast reduction and my nipples are way too high up. My breasts have also dropped. I am not pleased at all. In fact, I’m very insecure now. I do NOT recommend him!

After my lumpectomy left me very lopsided, Dr. Appel did an amazing job putting me back together again! His work is beautiful. I feel alive again! Thank you Dr. Appel! Cancer sucked but Dr Appel made me feel all better!

The office staff is amazing. Felt very comfortable and would highly recommend them.

I have been seeing Dr. for over 10 years. He is so caring and never rushed. He takes time to explain the procedure and gives his advice on what should be done for positive results. He is very professional. The office staff is so personable and caring.

In Oct. Lets start by saying, I was referred to this office by a great friend. And after doing my own research I was ready to start my new journey/chapter. When I called the office everything was perfect. Even when I arrived at my scheduled appointment. I was very pleased. When I consulted with Dr Appel I was still excited about my new decision. Everything was great. After a couple weeks of my appointment, I even spoke to Dr Appel and things were A-okay. The issue arised after I spoke to Dr. Appel. Time has gone by and I wouldn't hear anything. So I would call; I would always get a response that someone will call me back(and they never did) or they would put me on hold and won't get back to me. This went on for some time. I even sent emails. So I then started to feel alienated. Like they didn't want anything to do with me. So I just stopped calling and left it as it was. Then I got a bill in the mail(that I'm disputing) because I was treated so unfair/rude. Now they wanna get paid for poor service. As if behind my back they are talking about me. But in my face. Their smiling... Here is a couple of emails which started Oct 12th 2017 Dear Ms. Brooks, Thank you for meeting with Dr. Appel to discuss interest in a surgical procedure. I have your requested quote. This quote includes surgeon, facility, and the anesthesia fees for the procedure. Please contact me with any questions you may have and if you would like to proceed with scheduling. Thank you. I love dr.appel. I had a breast reduction by him and I'm only 23, so of course I was nervous about all the stories I heard about surgeries and the pain. Dr.appel, his staff, even the anesthesiologist was amazing and made me feel comfortable. After my surgery I had NOOO pain throughout my entire recovery. I was shocked cause I know people who had a breast reduction and had alot of pain, but I was up and walking around a few hours after my surgery! I love my new breast and I'm going back for lipo. Dr. Appel is a amazing doctor. His staff is outstanding as well. I have had three different procedures done by him with great amount of money. Would recommend him to anyone. Always on call if you need him. Takes great care of you. Takes your care very serious and still going to have more things done with him.

Dr. Appel III is an amazing doctor. I had a prophylactic double mastectomy because I am BRAC1. This means I had the gene mutation for both ovarian and breast cancer. Both he and his office staff have been extremely professional along with compassionate regarding my care . I strongly recommend Dr. Appel III.

Very patient, listens explains procedures. Staff and Dr are very professional. Follows HIPIA laws. Clean. Little to no wait time.

My wife went to this dr appel and he promised a surgery and good results... Then he calls my wife in the other day for the last consultation before the surgery and says he doesn't feel "comfortable" with what he has to do to reconstruct her breast. That she was a tough case and couldn't handle it. 2 Days later we receive phone call from his office saying we owe $1,000 for the 2 minute consultation that could have been done over the phone. A "nip/tuck" doctor only, beware!!!

I highly recommend Dr Appel. After being diagnosed with breast cancer on 9/11/14. Facing a mascetomy he came highly recommended by my surgeon for breast reconstruction surgery.Dr Appel left me with a calm and clear understanding from my first appointment of what to expect. He has always made himself available for any of my concerns and questions. He has a caring bedside manner that left me feeling calm and relaxed before my surgery as well,taking his time to explain the procedure and what to expect. Always making sure I was comfortable and not in pain afterwards. All of the staff in his office are compassionate and caring as well. They have always greeted me with a smile and have such a great disposition, even on very busy days in the office. Its not often you find a caring Dr and staff that make a patient feel at ease and comfortable all the time. I have previously worked in the medical field as a clerical and front desk receptionist and I know how hard some days can be. I have seen the office extremely busy and never have I felt they were rushing me in and out. Dr Appel and his staff are truly a rare gem in the world of plastic surgery . First of all I would like to say this is a very nice Doctor. He was always kind throughout my experience. I would like to say, however, I am not pleased with the results. I know he can perform various types of procedures and I'm sure he is great at most. I cannot recommend that if you are looking for rhinoplasty this is the doctor for you. I originally only wanted to have my bridge done which turned out fine). The problem occurred with the tip (which he wanted) because it is severely asymmetric.

Dr.Appel did the reconstruction surgery for my double mastectomy when I had breast cancer. He is the nicest, sweetest, kindest physician I have ever dealt with, and I highly recommend him. He is very professional, does excellent work and is very meticulous. His office staff are also extremely nice and helpful. You could not ask for a better experience than I had with him and his staff.

I recently saw Dr. Appel concerning issues I was having with breast reconstruction he performed years prior. He did not listen to my concerns. He tried to push physical therapy (not why I went), larger implants (he told me years prior that I couldn't have larger implants due to my pocket size), and that I would have to go to Chapel Hill if I wanted a FLAP reconstruction because Charlotte doctors weren't doing this type any longer (FALSE!!). I am extremely disappointed in his recommendations.
