If I could put 0 stars I would. Especially because of the lazy office manager DAWN and office staff . She yelled at me because I wanted to tell her that I've been trying to reach them for over an hour. And she said they will call back. Also THEY DONT HAVE TO ANSWER THE PHONE IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO. And she would not help me to find out what's going on with my lab results (thats just plan laziness). She hung up on me. And I had to call back, she answered and still every rude. So I'll be looking for a new doctor. Also Dr.Cruz knows what's going on with his laziness manager DAWN and staff. Obviously he don't care that much about his patience. Because if he did they would all be fired..

Dr. Cruz is an incredibly kind and very caring doctor. I really, really like him and would recommend him to anyone in need of an endocrinologist. I have never felt that he is rushing me through an appointment, and I always feel as if he is taking the time to explain my medical condition in a way that makes sense while answering my questions. He truly is a wonderful doctor. I do agree with other reviews that it is impossible to get anyone from his office to actually answer a phone, so scheduling an appointment is super frustrating. I also agree that while the patient portal has a lot of fantastic features (contains test results, can see your patient notes, etc), because the scheduling and front office is so challenging it is compounded by the fact that the messaging feature in the patient portal just doesn't seem to be enabled. I haven't had any billing issues (yet) so i can't comment on their billing staff. Highly recommend Dr. Cruz, though...

If i could give zero stars I would, trying to get someone on the phone is almost impossible, staff is terrible and rude. Took me 4 days to get a actual person on the phone. Terrible would not recommend at all !!!

Dr. Cruz is the first doctor I have had that actually took the time to explain my thyroid problem and I feel like he genuinely cares. I give him 5 stars personally but the accessibility/ communications is a bit lacking so i gave 4 overall. I have a hard time getting in touch. The patient portal doesn't let me send messages or I would try to communicate that way. I do appreciate my test results were uploaded. I would recommend him any day but would say there is a small price to pay in some areas, but overall he is good and worth it.

The office manager is HORRID. Dr. Cruz is too sweet of a man to have such an vile person working for him. I would recommend him all day long. However like the other poster I will not be returning until they hire a new "office manager" billing specialist or whatever her title is. My insurance is having a hard time getting any assistance from this woman. Obviously she has zero people skills and doesn't like when you match her energy, she will immediately hang up on you. She is a mess to deal with and has no clue how to effectively do her job or else so many people wouldn't be having these issues. Even the poor lady who has been trying to help me from my insurance said she is equally as nasty when she spoke to her. How in the world does anyone in that office deal with her? I feel bad for them as all others I've come across have been so nice and helpful.

I have been seeing Dr. Cruz for over 10 years. I have never had an issue with Dr. Cruz's care or NP Fernandez's care. They are nothing but sweet. However, since I have been pregnant, I had to have more visits. Every visit they are charging me more than my copay, and after speaking with insurance, they are indeed, over charging me. I sent all the appropriate documents, per the billing department request, and I receive no call back for over 3 weeks. And when Dawn finally called me back, she was extremely rude, kept telling me I was wrong. Even though insurance had already processed all my visits. She wouldn't listen. She said majority of my visits have not been paid by insurance. When my EOBs clearly state they have been processed and paid. I told her I did not appreciate her attitude and she said "Likewise" and hung up with me. So now, I am no longer going to continue my care through this office. Which is a shame because I really liked Dr. Cruz as a provider.

Dr Cruz is outstanding- however office staff is the worst staff ever, especially Dawn. It’s is a shame that Dr Cruz is going to lose me and many other patients due to his office staff. They never answer the phone, I have never received a return call to the point where I had to drive to the office to talk to someone about getting my prescription refilled. Then I had to drive back the next day to pickup the prescription. It is a shame that Dr Cruz does not read the reviews and if he does and has not done anything to correct the problem with the office staff shame on him and he deserves his patients leaving him. I have contacted one of my other doctors and asked him for a referral to another doctor and I have made contact with them a set up and appointment. I am going to keep my appointment with Dr Cruz and let him know why I am leaving his care.

I have seen DR CURZ for many yrs very awesome doctor . but unfortunately will have to find new MD. . DUE to perceptions constantly being denied because they want you to be seen at office every 6 months? office will never answer phone and when leave a message you will get a call back in 4 days. I came in today for my annual appointment and was informed that I have a balance from 7/21 and 9/21. I have never been billed or informed of a balance. I have two insurances and no copay but because they did not get them submitted I had to pay before I could see the Dr. ...while Dr Cruz is awesome I cannot say the same for everyone there. Also be aware you have to file your own claims...and if you rely on them at any visit you could be told that you owe and cannot see the Dr til you pay up! Dr. Cruz is a wonderful doctor but the front office is rude and condescending,. They do not pick up the phone, fail to return calls, and blame their clients for mistakes the office staff are responsible for. I've been seeing Dr. Cruz for over two years and will not be returning. I do not recommend this office due to support staff.

Dr. Cruz and Ms. Fernandez (is she still there?) are outstanding. Dr. Cruz is kind, knowledgeable, and takes the time to ask questions and explain lab results, etc. But the office help is generally unhelpful and even cold toward patients. They do not mail, phone, or fax prescriptions, ever. They are unresponsive, every year it seems, to my mail-order company which requires a new letter of medical necessity on file in order to fill prescriptions for supplies such as testing strips and syringes. The office staff did not notify the mail-order prescription service when they changed offices and fax numbers; this meant that I had to be the clerical go-between when the mail-order company couldn't fill my prescriptions. They did not seem concerned in the least that my prescriptions could not be filled until they did their part. More than once they have asked me to drive out to the office to pick up and fax a piece of paper for them; this should be handled by the office staff, not the patient! And their skimpy office hours: 8:30 - 12, 1:30 - 4:30 are a rough estimate. Often phones are not answered during these times or you just get a busy signal. Most recently, it took more than 6 weeks to have a routine prescription order partly filled because of office policies that the patient (me) could not possibly know. Some items were simply not prescribed, even though they have been included in the order for the past five years. At no time did the office staff seem concerned that their repeated refusals to approve prescriptions or at least notify me of what was needed meant I was potentially going to be in a life-threatening situation of not having my testing and pump supplies. The office staff simply declined/denied orders without telling me. They never called me to tell me that they were refusing to submit prescriptions. Have been a patient of Dr Cruz for many years but will be switching doctors and not returning. For starter, no one picks up the phone when you try calling...impossible to get anyone on the phone. Secondly, I've always had to wait a very long time in the waiting rooms before being seend by him (often an hour wait). Today, when I showed up for my appointment I was told I had an outstanding balance that needed to be paid, in addition to my co-pay for the current visit. This was the first I had heard that I owed money. I was told that one bill was for a copay that hadn't been paid for an appointment back in February of 2021. I was told that the other bill was for a missed appointment in July 2021 (which turned out to actually be a situation where I had called to reschedule the appointment but I called the same day of the appointment). I was told that they had sent me several invoices but that I never paid my outstanding balance. I advised them that I had never received an invoice AND that I had been into the office for an appointment since July of 2021. No one said anything to me about owing money at my last appointment in August. Additionally, the office had a mailing address that was from 3 years ago...invoices were mailed to wrong address. I never received a phone call nor an email about my outstanding balance. No one said anything to me at my appointment in August nor at the two times I went to the office for blood work. I had no idea I owed money. I agreed to pay my current co-pay and requested they bill me using the correct address for the outstanding balance. I wanted time to look into my bank statements and insurance to double check things and I didn't think it was fair the way it was being handled. I refused to pay the the copay from my appointment a year prior until I had the opportunity to receive the invoice and look into the situation. They refused to proceed with my appointment even though I agreed to pay the current co-pay. I left the office and will be getting a new doctor. I have been seeing Dr. Cruz for several months to treat hyperthyroidism. I have appreciated his warm and caring manner and how he never rushes through an appointment. He has been helpful in explaining and treating my condition and has been very encouraging. His staff has been friendly and easy to deal with and I have not had an issue with communication or scheduling.

You cannot get anyone in the office to answer the phone. When you eventually talk to a person after 20-25 tries, they are extremely rude and unhelpful. I went this week to acquire my medical records, where I was told that they would not release them to me. I was told that my personal medical records were not mine and I could have not have them. I was further that told that my medical records had been released without notice to my primary care doctor. When I called my primary care doctor to confirm, I was notified my records had never been sent. I have no way of knowing who these people released my private medical history to now! Have seen Dr Cruz for over 20 years and he navigated me through thyroid cancer. He continues to keep my health excellent and cancer free. I appreciate him explaining all of the after possibilities and addressing any that came along.

Slow to respond. Automatic voice message saying lunch is between certain times, usually come back 30-45 minutes later. Said would mail results, waited 3 weeks and multiple phone calls later to just pick them up. Do not recommend. Appt @ 9 didn't get seen til 1015. Bad overall experience.

Dr. Cruz and Ms. Fernandez are wonderful. They care about my health and also personal issues. My thyroid and insulin levels were abnormal due to extreme stress at home. Dr. Cruz helped me through this. Showed me he was very caring.

I know that the office is open ,but every time I called it keeps saying that it’s closed .opens at 8 AM its after 8 AM and still they don’t answer the phone.

I just tried calling the offfice and both landline and fax number for his office are DISCONNECTED....after referring numerous friends to this doctor they kepted complaining about the service and getting thru the office when calling. This is really disappointing...already in progress of transfering over to another doctor

Office staff is less than friendly but Dr. Cruz is great! They will not refill your prescriptions unless you have an appointment booked even if it’s six months out. Makes zero sense.

Update: pregnant and cannot get an amswer after a month of waiting and calling no one answers the phones. My gyno wanted me to confirm if I can stop medication due to refinance and these people are putting me at risk. I want you to give me my records so I can get help elsewhere. This is unprofessional. I'm very upset that I sat in that office and after 3 weeks I have no call about my results. Instead I was sent a $200 lab bill I was NOT informed about. I did not visit a lab. I was told in the office that he wanted some blood work and sent me to the next room where the nurse took my blood. These people are unprofessional due to their secrecy and lack of information they provide before authorizing lab Corp test, which my insurance had to pay over $1100. How insane! Have been his patient for almost two years. He is wonderful, soft spoken, kind and caring. His associate Dr. Fernandez is equally as nice and caring. I will admit, I changed appts. several times. I happen to become a new grandma at the same time I started with Dr Cruz (with two grand babies - one of them being out of state) so I often willingly changed appts because of supporting our daughters with the new babies...I called two weeks ago to change an appt. (never did this last minute) and was told by a staff member that she would need to get Dr Cruz’s approval to schedule another appt.!! She said I had changed many appts. so needed his approval. I was a little taken aback but it is what it is. They never called me back... (Seems they really only want perfectly compliant patients...) So, sadly I transferred my records to another Dr closer to my home (was driving from the Hill Country to see him). Dr. Cruz is an amazing doctor! He takes the time listen to you and and answer all of your questions and explains everything in depth. I’ve never felt rushed at any of his appointments. He is very compassionate and kind. I highly recommend him. His staff is also very nice and courteous, especially Dawn!

Dr Cruz has been my Dr for over 10 years. He is easy to talk with and really cares. The labs he orders are very through and he is willing to let me try new OTC things I think will work for my body as long as I let him monitor my blood work. He gives great advice!

I had a makeup follow up appointment with Dr Cruz on 16 March 2021 due to the storm we had in Texas. I arrived for my 09:45 appointment which his people called and gave only to have the lady at the check in desk tell me I didn’t have a appointment and that the Dr. was booked for today. I showed the lady the text that I made for a reminder to myself and I also told her of the care I had to pay for someone to watch my mom since she couldn’t come with. She just repeated that I don’t have a appointment and tried to give another day. I told her I will never come back. I know Dr. Cruz my not have a clue about this situation and I hope he reads this and know his staff is costing him patients.

I found Dr. Cruz to be an honest, compassionate, wonderful doctor. He thoroughly explained my situation and diagnosis. And he confidently explained his plan about how to make me well. Every time I walked out of his office I felt completely at ease and confident that he was doing everything he could do on my behalf.

I have been going to Dr. Cruz since I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2006. I go to the Sonterra office. I like Dr. Cruz, who is compassionate and takes the time to answer any questions I have. His staff is OK. I’ve had to correct them on a couple of things, but it was not a major problem. The wait times are better than they were the first few years I went there.

I feel listened to and cared for during appointments and trusting of Dr. Cruz's expert opinion. He came highly recommended and I am grateful to him and his staff for their help with my appointment. I would recommend not leaving a message with the answering service; it did not make it through to the office. I love being able to leave Dr. Cruz's office and take orders for imaging to the STRIC office in the same building (so convenient--they take imaging walk-ins when available, too).

Have been going to Dr Jamie Cruz for 6 years. He and Ms Fernandez have been great to me and my family. They have been helpful and caring.

I went to see Dr cruz I had temporarily Paralysis of my left eye the eye Specialist told me it could take up to 6 month cause of my Diabetes dr cruz told we will take care of u and it won't take 6 months he up my meds and sure of enough 7 weeks later my eye sight was back to normal my A1C went from 6.7 to 5.9 and I lost 22 pounds in the process I owe him everything and I cant thank him enough for helping me

While Dr. Cruz is very nice and professional, his staff is impolite, gives wrong information, and very unhelpful. I would never recommend him due to his staff.

My wife had a follow up appointment with Dr. Cruz on 4/22. The office is supposed to open at 0800, but no staff arrived until 0910. The lone staff member Dawn was obnoxious and rude towards the patients that had arrived early and on time for their appointments. Dawn stated that all appointments had been cancelled and all patients were notified, and that if they were not notified then it was because the info the office had was incorrect and not their fault! This is to bad because Dr. Cruz seemed very genuine and kind, and was helping my wife. I hope he changes his staff, but we will not be going back to see him.

This office is terrible. The WORST office staff I have ever experienced. It's impossible to get anyone to answer a phone. Then when they do answer you are in hold for 30 min. They take forever to get things done. It takes weeks to get a refill. If you ever get it. I always gave up and just make an appointment. Usualy with availability after I've run out of meds for a month. As soon as I said I wouldn't be returning, they were real quick to delete my records from the portal so I couldn't show them to my PCP. Less then 48 hours. If they were that quick with things people actually need they might have a better rating. The main office lady always has an attitude. Doesn't follow what the Dr. says and makes decisions on medications for herself. At 2 separate appointments the Dr. told me he would give me a certain amount of samples then she would only give me half. When I called her on it she was like oh no, you need to get a prescription. I asked the Dr. and he gave me the sample. Then when I get the prescription, the pharmacist calls saying the office manager cancled it. Find someone else. Dr. Jaime Cruz himself is quite nice and professional. He seemed to care about me and explained what he was doing. His staff is an entirely different story. They are completely incompetent, lazy, and unwilling to help. After getting billed for the 14 blood tests, our insurance company informed us that we would need the doctor's office to authorize some of the tests in order to qualify for the insurance payment. After talking to Dr. Cruz's staff numerous times, they refuse to do anything at all and instead blame it on us for not calling the insurance company first. How was I supposed to call my insurance company in the time it took to walk from the exam room to the lab room down the hall and figure out which if the 14 tests I needed to preauthorize when I wasn't even told what tests were being done? Not only this, they completely misspelled my name even with my driver's license in hand and misgendered me. If I didn't point this out twice on the receipt they gave me, they never would have fixed it. Dr. Cruz is a nice man, but he is either unaware (hard to believe given the other negative reviews) or does not care that his staff is rude, inefficient, and driving patients away from his practice. I know there are some low reviews, but let me tell you Dr Cruz and Dawn (practice manager) have saved my life literally. I was with a doctor that just ran a medical mill. I was a number. He didn’t listen to me and certainly didn’t “take care” of my needs. I called and spoke to Dawn about my struggles. She immediately began helping me understand how much better Dr Cruz is and helped me get setup with an appointment. Dr Cruz ran a ton of tests after meeting with me, one being an ultrasound. I saw a message on Healow from Dr Cruz that I needed a biopsy Saturday morning. When I sent back a question about it, Dr Cruz responded...on the WEEKEND. I was then called back later that week by Dawn who very carefully told me I had to come into the office the next morning. It wasn’t good. I saw them on Friday to be told I had thyroid cancer. They worked over the weekend to get my cancer packet ready, Dawn called me Saturday to let me know what to do Monday to get a surgery on the books the fastest. His staff is the reason I what out. I'm pregnant and my gyno needs confirmation of I can safely get off cabergolene but no one ever calls me back or picks up the phone after a month trying. I want my record so I can find a professional office. I had great doctors in CT and their staff still calls me to ensure my health. This place doesn't come close. This is a joke. I need my records so I can find someone who can help me and ensure my unborn child's safety.

His staff is unprofessional, rude, uncaring, and not worth the trouble just to deal with this doctor. He needs to fire the staff he has and hire new professional and friendly staff. Otherwise, he will possibly lose patients, as he has done with me. In reading the reviews, it's not so much Dr. Cruz, but is his staff that is the problem.

Dr. Cruz was very reassuring and asked all the right questions. He uploaded my lab results on the app exactly 10 days like he said in the appt and wrote a note (it was also a Sunday). His staff also followed up with a call.

I was referred to Dr. Cruz by my OB/GYN to do a more in depth examination of my pituitary gland causing me fertility problems. After the first visit Dr. Cruz assured me that we can get this issue under control, no problem. By my second visit Dr. Cruz was pretty certain he found the issue and was so confident that we will have no problems conceiving once I start treatment with medicine. I am blessed and ecstatic to say by the third visit and 1 month after starting medicine, I am expecting! If it wasn't for Dr. Cruz assurance, optimism and expertise in the matter then I don't know if I would be as blessed as I am right now. After 7 years of trying, I will forever be thankful to Dr. Cruz for making it happen in a couple of months!

I would suggest you get an appointment with a physician who actually cares about the patient!

The office staff is rude and has no clue how to handle patients. I will no longer be seeing this doctor even though he is truly wonderful. They are some of the most incompetent horrendous staff I have ever had to deal with. DO NOT GO HERE.

Made an appointment for my mother on March 13th and the earliest they had was April 17th at 10:45. But that I could call and see if there were any cancellations in the meantime. I called 4 times and no cancellations. Showed up for her appointment on 04/17 and they claimed that it had been cancelled on 03/28. No way this was cancelled, someone had to have posted to the wrong account. Told them that their staff is incompetent and they refused to work my mother in for her appointment. It's incredible to see that the continued theme of feedback is the lack of customer service etiquette provided by this office staff and yet no action is taken. After one visit, I quickly identified that this was not an office I wanted to continue my healthcare at - they are unresponsive to voicemails, unaccommodating in schedule updates/changes, and worst of all, rude when speaking to you over the phone. Horrible horrible customer service. I have tolerated this bad behavior too long. Its time to move on. I have not been able to get a call back to reschedule an appointment but i did get a bill for a "NO SHOW $75.00 bill" for an appoinment i could not make due to car issues that i tried rescheduling the day of my appointment and kept getting a broken voicemail system that im sure did not take my messege. I called today and finally talked to the office manager Who was rude and pretty much did not want to hear my fustrations and hung up on me. I tried calling back and kept getting the answering machine that only allows you to leave your first and last name. I tried calling back again and got the same issue. I love this doctor but his entire staff is terrible. The lab tech butchered me the first time I visited.. She was incapable of finding a vein. Then while digging, she hit a muscle which left a massive bruise, swelling and soreneness for over a week. I have lab work regularly and this was the worst experience I've ever had so I will never let her draw my blood again.. I was scheduled for an appointment with Dr. Cruz next week and he needed labs drawn. I called today for assistance with a lab slip so I could have my blood drawn for him at my Hemotologist office since I will be there for lab work already this week and they both use LabCorp. LabCorp is doing a system update this week. My lab tech at the hemotologist office was happy to run the labs for me but unable to pull it electronically from Dr.Cruz during the update. All I needed was a paper lab slip instead. When I called Dr. Cruz office, Dawn advised me that my hemotologist office could help if they wanted to but but they don't want to and that's not her problem and she refused to help me with a lab slip. Worse, she just kept running her rude mouth and talking over me when I tried to ask for other options. She told me her office is going through an update too and they aren't having a problem so it's the other doctors issue. Dawn just kept talking over me and bashing my other doctor rather than trying to assist. She hung up on me twice. I canceled my appointment with Dr. Cruz and will no longer be seeing him. No one should be treated this badly when trying to get assistance with medical care. I'm done and that's too bad because he is such a great doctor but the pain of dealing with these women isn't worth the hassle. I am no stranger to the needle but she was terrible. They want to be condescending and right but none of them actually listen. Ms. Fernandez has been somewhat helpful over the times I have visited. The office assistant Dawn is quite rude and passes her insecurities on to the patient. I've seen Ms. Fernandez the majority of the time since Dr. Cruz over books himself. As my mom passed from cancer I have visited many doctors and interacted with their staff. Cruz and his staff has to be the worst I've ever encountered. Although they aren't all bad two of the younger ladies are quite cordial. If I could give a ZERO star review I would. Dr. Cruz is probably a very good doctor but no one who is feeling unhealthy should have to be subjected to the rudeness of his nurse and office staff. I saw Dr. Cruz for a new patient consultation and blood work plus ultrasound were done. It took almost 2 weeks to get the results. When I was informed of the results Dr. Cruz's nurse gave me the findings which were not favorable. She refused to answer my questions, was rude and told me I have to wait 6 months before anything will be done by the doctor. Really? I was just told I have lumps on my thyroid and I have a history of cancer!!! NO ONE SHOULD BE TREATED THIS WAY! I asked for my records. When I got my "records" in the mail, it was one piece of paper with sketchy results from the bloodwork and nothing from the ultrasound. Insurance covered over $800 and my out of pocket was over $300 for nothing. Still having problems and have yet to find a good doctor with a professional and caring staff. I see Dr Cruz, no problems. Today, I had to call to reschedule an appointment I could not get to because I can't drive from a knee surgery I had last Thursday. I'm very limited as to when my spouse can take me. When a member of staff answered the phone I explained why I was calling and asked what the latest slot was for me to try to reschedule. She responded with, we don't have many options left, blah blah blah blah blah. My response was that's ok I just need to know your latest time slot you schedule. With a snarky attitude she repeated herself. I then, being very irritated had to explain to her my situation and I just needed to know the latest slot. She finally told me. Not a hard question! I highly recommend Dr. Cruz if you want a doctor that takes his time in talking and listening to you. I have been seeing him for my Type 1 diabetes for so long I can't remember. He is patient in dealing with you regarding your care even when you don't follow all of his suggestions. He is understanding of what you do/don't do in your care and helps guide you to doing what is right and wrong. He is not only kind, but really knows his field. His demeanor is kind, compassionate and calm. He answers your questions, taking time to make sure you understand. I have been a patient of Dr. Cruz for almost 20 years and love the way he has provided me personal healthcare. I am not a number or a dollar sign to him. Dr. Cruz has always provided me answers to all my questions with options, he does not rush through any information he provides me. He allows me time to ask questions and to make my own decisions. While is a plus, it is also the reason that he is usually behind on his appointments. It's all in what you value. I would rather wait for a good doctor who cares about me as a patient. I seldom see him, but his PA is very good. I cannot find a Patient Portal to communicate with him and get a prescription. When I call his office I am immediately sent to an answering machine. When I leave a message it is never answered. I may seek another emdocrinologist.

Never see this doctor! He misdiagnosed me and almost killed me! Now I have a new doctor that luckily caught was wrong and right in front of Dr Cruz face before it was too late and I was dead. DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR!!

I appreciate Dr. Cruz taking the time to talk to me. Some doctors I have gone to are a production line, asking the same questions and not listening to your response. Dr. Cruz asks you a question and then listens to your response. He then discusses what you might do to fix the problem. He takes the time to understand what you are doing and helps guide you to other options in taking care of your condition.

Very patient and genuinely caring. It's so refreshing to have a doctor that takes their time to really help and understand your situation. Dr. Cruz is one of the doctor's I recommend most.
