2nd knee replacement, was disappointed I was not visited in hospital and generally less contact with Dr Manuel than my first procedure. Excellent physician, production machine just seems to be taking over

Dr Manuel and his staff are exceptional providers! I needed an emergency appointment and Dr Manuel saw me in 48 hrs, solved my issue, and sent me on my way with complete peace of mind. He is truly a super doctor!

I got a very good result from my total knee replacement

Dr. Manuel is the best surgeon I've ever seen and I have had surgeries on my shoulders and spine for years, having seen a total of nine surgeons. Four years ago, I had been in a wheelchair, with pain so bad I could not walk for four months as I had been to another doctor who did hyalgen injections in my left hip that did nothing to help. Then my spine surgeon introduced me to Dr. Manuel. The morning of the surgery, I arrived in my wheel chair. Two hours later my hip replacement surgery began; two hours after that I was in my hospital room; two hours after that, the physical therapist came and walked me down the hall, I was 79 years old then. The recovery was a breeze, I was in the hospital 4 days and in the rehab hospital 2 weeks and 2 days and went back to work the day I was released from the rehab hospital!!! Off the pain meds. Here after 4 years, I forget it is not my real hip. That went so well that I chose him to do my left knee replacement this past December. I had no oral pain meds for 4 days following the surgery, as they put a nerve block in, and a special vacuum bandage, then polar ice. I spent one day in the hospital, then went to the rehab hospital for 8 days, then started back to work a week after that. I was totally off my pain meds by two weeks after my surgery. My range of motion was almost where we wanted it when I left the hospital. It went so well, that in 3 weeks I am having him do my right knee replacement. Since I will turn 83 next month, I was afraid he would not do it, but I got all my medical clearances, and look forward to a new right knee. My left knee is the best it has ever felt and functioned!!! Alison and the entire staff are superb. His office has a very seamless protocol in place and my two previous surgeries have been a breeze.

Awesome, attentive and understanding of my issues. Praying my 2 knee replacement goes well. I know I have the best care available.

Dr Manuel was great! He was attentive to our questions and showed us our xrays and explained them in ways we understood. The staff was awesome also, so friendly and didn't rush us through. He also came highly recommended.

Dr Manuel was very interested in both my and my wife’s cases. He came highly recommend to us by friends and my retiring Orthodontist. I highly recommend Dr Manuel. I will leave another after my surgery in June.

Dr Manuel has been my doctor since 2018 after my second knee replacement and he just completed my femur surgery and replace my knee as well. I will be seeing him and his PA Allison for all of my problems. He is the best Dr I have had for my knee problem and his staff is awesome as well. I recommend this Dr highly.

Amazing experience with Dr. Manuel and his entire team from consultation to surgery day. Their professionalism put my mind at ease and my right hip replacement went perfectly. They will set you up with in home physical therapy right away, so no stress while you heal from surgery.

Such a skilled professional, highly recommended and respected (this was confirmed, volunteered without me even asking, by several St. David’s Hospital medical staff). I felt I was in more than capable hands.

Dr. Manuel, replaced my hip in 2019 and a partial knee replacement 2021. He's thorough, kind and really cared about my health. Allison his pa stays on top of things, she's called to check on me and cares about my recovery. This office is very professional but also very caring and kind

I have had both a hip replacement (11-2020) and a knee replacement (07-2021). Dr. Manuel and his staff are very professional and helpful. I can't imagine a better surgeon before, during or after surgery.

Dr Manuel did a great job replacing both of my knees in 2020. I am able to walk long distances and ride my bike without pain. I also appreciate how his assistant, Alison, responded promptly to the many emails I sent to her prior to and after the surgeries. My advice to those contemplating a total knee replacement is to treat the period in the 30-45 days after the surgery as a full time job. Could not be happier with Dr Manuel, his staff and the entire St Davids system. It's a well-oiled machine that is highly organized and professional from the initial appointment, surgery day, recovery and on through to follow ups. Couldn't be happier! Thank you Dr Manuel and staff

He painted an extremely rosy picture of my expected condition immediately following knee replacement surgery. I was actually released from the hospital the same day as my surgery. I was in extreme pain shortly thereafter. My knee swelled to 4 times its normal size with very large blisters just bursting with pus. Nurses who came to the house to change the bandages were taken aback. The 5mg oxycodone pills were totally inadequate, so they increased the dose to 1 5mg pill plus a 5 mg ER pill—again totally inadequate. This was increased to first, 10 mg , and then 2 10 mg pills at a time. I was taking this dose every few hours—a dangerously high level. The doctor could not explain the huge blisters nor the pain. He guessed the cause was a wound vac, but this was removed after 2 days, while the blisters lasted for weeks. The ice packs provided needed to be balanced like a book on one’s head. They didn’t tell me about knee braces available with tubes connected to an ice box.

Dr. Manuel recently replaced my hip in a same-day procedure (due to the COVID-19 impacts on hospital bed capacity). I could not have been more pleased with him and his staff. While his resume is exceptional, he's even better in person. He is patient, upbeat, easy to talk to, practical, professional, and a perfectionist in all the right ways. He exceeded all my expectations, and I recommend him with no reservations at all.

Dr. Manuel did a partial knee replacement for me less than a year ago. Now, I need a hip replacement. I have confidence that Dr. Manuel will do as good of a job on my hip as he did with my knee. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Manuel, is one of the Greatest Doctor’s that I have ever had. He is a very caring individual who makes the greatest efforts to have nothing done except, the best for his Patients well being. Dr. Manuel, will make you feel like you have known him all your life, such a pleasant disposition. There is nothing to say, but wonderful things about him personally and his job performance professionally. With a great office staff that is Very Professional and Courteous.

I've been seeing Dr. Manuel and the physician assistant, Alison, for 6 years to get shots in my knee. They both are caring, highly professional, and ready to answer questions. Two months ago, Dr. Manuel performed a partial knee replacement on me. He did an excellent job and I'm very happy with my results. In addition to his high level of professionalism, Dr. Manuel is very friendly and a good listener. I highly recommend the practice for anyone with hip or knee issues. So far so good! Dr. Manuel was patient in answering all my questions. I'm not new to knee surgery, but am new to this complication. I consider myself just knowledgable enough to be dangerous. I also make jokes when I get nervous. Dr. Manuel and his staff handled all this so with humor, and answered all questions patiently. A week before I had been with a doctor who got up without asking if I had any other questions. I had felt rushed, and uncared for. For a partial knee replacement, which is a big decision in my book, I I wanted someone who takes me needs seriously. Dr. Manuel and his staff were fantastic and also come highly recommended by friends and professionals. Surgery is this upcoming week, and I know I will be taken care of well.

I highly recommend Dr. Manual and his staff. I have been a patient for the past two years for evaluation of knee problems. Dr. Manual’s manner is not only professional but also very personable. I researched for an orthopedic surgeon after 3 different Doctors had told me that that their wasn't anything wrong with my hip(had a hip replacementyrs ago) In my inquiry I came across Dr. Manuel grades so I made an appointment & he found that my prosthesis was distorted on a specific test he ran & I had surgery and their was the reason why I was so much in pain. I was also told by Dr. Manuel that the metal had traveled into my blood which now I have to take antibiotics for the rest of my life. Dr. Jacob Manuel was a "God sent Blessing" to me! He is so Awesome & Exceptional Physician & caring! Being a 1st responder & getting back on my feet was unbelievable, my colleagues & friends asked me constantly "Who was your Doctor" & I proudly tell them "Dr. Jacob Manuel). I highly recommend Dr Manuel & his first staff! I also need to have a total knee replacement and Dr. Jacob Manuel performed my surgery, all I can say is that he had me walking that day & in Phy. I recently had two hip replacements performed by Dr. Manuel. Both were virtually pain-free and I never needed to use any pain meds for either procedure. He is truly a miracle-worker. After less than two months my walking is completely back to normal. I can also do stairs quickly and I'm back to the workout routines on dvd that I used to perform. These include stretching and jumping. Dr. Manuel is also very personable and nice to work with. I highly recommend him.

I saw the doctor for an assessment of a difference in the length of my leg between a replaced hip and normal leg. It was informative and considerate of my questions. Office was well managed. Staff efficient and friendly.

Dr Manuel is amazing. He has an easy and comfortable manner with the patient. I was introduced to Dr Manuel when he was the Dr on call for complex wound care at St David's and short story, he saved my leg. He is at the top of the game for hip and knee surgery. He did a hip resurface on my son who is doing great. When I asked my pain care Dr who he would go to for hip surgery, "no question - "Manuel". Jake is the hands down go to for hip and knee problems!

Had a hip replacement in April. Came into the hospital at 8 a.m., not able to stand and had been in a wheel chair for five months. Six hours later, I was walking down the hall on a walker. He is THE BEST EVER.

The truth is I feel I'm seeing the BEST knee and hip MD/surgeon in Austin, perhaps TX and I'm so grateful to be a patient of his! Clear explanations, he answered all my questions and he was appropriately conservative in his diagnosis!

My entire experience with Dr. Manuel and his staff was extremely great. Dr. Manuel answered all my questions and concerns about surgery. He was positive and upbeat about the surgery helping me return to work and a more active life style. Him and his staff worked very hard to get me an expedited surgery date, due to upcoming events in my life, then they had available at the time. St David’s medical facility was outstanding in their treatment of me before, during and after the surgery. Dr. Manuel was correct; I wish I had done this surgery with him long before I did. Dr.Manuel repaired a badly broken right ankle after a snow skiing injury. I am rarely even aware of that injury and you would not know anything looking at my ankle. No swelling, arthritis, looks perfectly normal. He was great! I am an RN and I am picky!!

I am 45 years old and Dr. Manuel replaced my left hip. I have been dealing with back and hip issues for years and have seen numerous doctors. Dr. Manuel is the first doctor I felt completely confident in and my surgery was a great success. Dr. Manuel & his P.A. Ms. Allison , I went into see him last year for a second opinion and he was extremely honest and let me know what I had to do before he felt comfortable enough to do a revision on my left knee!!! This was my first visit to him not sure of the month, but I had a Total knee replacement in Feb 2017 started my Therapy @ Garner & Riley phenomenal team , anyway I went back to the Original Dr. Who had done my first surgery I kept telling him something isn't right !!! This was two weeks out of my first surgery he informed me everyone heals differently um apparently NOT in my case ..I continued therapy hurt and yes was constantly in severe pain ! Ok I'm going to get to the point now , My therapist is the one who gave me the name & number for Dr. Manuels office. I went and like I said I done everything asked of me, Those 1-10 scales on pain I was off the chart on pain .DR .Manuel said he really didn't like to do the revision to soon but it had to come out ! So I had my Surgery July 2017, OMG when I woke up I could already feel a huge difference! I can't thank him and Allison enough they ate 100% still with me on my journey in recovery! Trust Jacob Manuel for the best orthopedic and surgical skills and care. I talked to plenty of others (ran away from one) and researched and checked around before choosing him for my complete hip replacement. I had avascular necrosis, so the surgery wasn't optional. He performed my anterior approach hip replacement surgery and I couldn't be happier. Not all orthopedic surgeons are able to perform the anterior approach. I'd say beware of the the posterior surgery - it's old school. You WANT this surgeon. Dr. Manuel's beside manner is also exceptional. His practice does ONLY complete knee and hip replacements.
