I would not recommend this dr. if you are being treated for migraines. My experience was awful and I just kept getting worse and worse. A subsequent dr helped me get off of 2 medications and no longer needed nerve blocks. The way a certain medicine was prescribed was not suited for migraine treatment. And my neck pain disappeared after I no longer received Botox in my neck. Seek another opinion. I would not recommend this dr. if you are being treated for migraines. I had been suffering from Migraine with Aura and in pain almost daily. I joined a migraine support group and Dr. Schim’s name came up a few times so I knew I needed to see him. He took his time to to get to know me and within 1 month I was able to return to some of the activities I enjoyed prior to the onset of my attacks.

I went to Dr Schimm a couple years ago and saw him for two years for , what I thought were migraines…but most of the time the Botox treatments DID NOT work….my pain was primarily behind the left eye and towards the end before I left seeing him I complained terribly about the pain…..welll long story short the SEVERE pain was Trigeminal Neuralgia…..the Dr that finally helped me figure it out was my ENT. I had been dismissed and not paid attention to by SO many Drs and Dr Schimm was one of them. He may be a Migraine dr but he’s a neurologist and he should be aware of the symptoms especially when I come in in excruciating pain…..BTW… Trigeminal Neuralgia is AKA the “ suicide disease “ because the pain is SO bad. I’ve been referred to a Neurosurgeon at UCSD specializing in TN……thanks to my ENT for not dismissing me and passing me on to another dr. Dr Schim is an expert in treating migraines (among other things, I suppose). Mine have been reduced by about 75% (in number of days per month with migraine), and when I do have one, it responds better to my regular medication (Rizatriptan). He is at the cutting edge of his specialty—always up to date on the latest research and upcoming treatments. He once told me a year ahead of time when a new new type of medication was expected on the market. He’s friendly and down to Earth. Consistent good vibes. I always enjoy my visits. Easily one of the best doctors I’ve ever had. Dr Schim is an expert in treating migraines (among other things, I suppose). Dr. Schim contrary to some of the reviews I have read is the exact opposite of the negative reviews. He has changed my life because of his treatment of my migraines. He is knowledgeable, professional and up to date on the best treatments for migraines. He also will take time to listen to your issues if you tell him.

Dr Schim managed my complex migraine care for many years. He was a kind professional physician who paid attention to my care both during the office visit and symptoms that required his attention by phone between visits. I appreciated his gentle humor and uplifting spirits; they helped uplift me during challenging times. My appt. was at 8pm, I arrived and they took me in right at 8pm. Lawrence brought me into my room and explained to me what the procedure would be like. The room was like a small hotel room with an entertainment center, queen bed and desk. A camera was on the ceiling enclosed in a black bubble cover, not very viable. I was told to get ready for bed, how ever my regular routine was; pj's brush teeth, take off makeup and the bathroom was next door. After 15 min, I was hooked up to tons of little monitors which took about an hour. After,I was told to get in bed and read or check out the web site until I went to bed. I shortly went fell to sleep around 10-10:30. It was not too uncomfortable and all the monitors stayed. I buzzed when I had to go to the bathroom. Was allowed and also offered water. The intercom was clear and Lawrence made sure that I was comfortable and that all the monitors were always working. At 5am I was woken up and told I was done. That easy. I got dressed, filled out a survey and left. I will be getting my results shortly and look forward to it. Great service and place. Very comfortable and professional. Dr. Schim is an experienced Neurologist. He has been with The Neurology Center (first in Encinitas) located in Carlsbad, CA. He is a responsible and excellent Neurologist

Schim...schimery..schim...shimery..schim,shim,schimery,if he is your Doc. you're in bad company. No where is there a more sadistic bloke who speaks of brain surgery as if it's a joke. and talks on personal cell phone while you sit there.

I really think that Dr, David Schim needs to retire, he 'll show no interest or effort to help you out through your health problem, he was unprofessional a few time during my visits, if he wasn't that old, I would be reporting him to the Department of health. I strongly recommend seeing a different Doctor

Dr Schim goes above and beyond for his patients. I have received excellent care for my migraine headaches under his guidance for the past 8 years. I have been to many neurologists in several states and Dr Schim is by far one of the most outstanding neurologists that I have received care from.

I really think that Dr, David Schim needs to retire, he 'll show no effort to help you out through your health problem, he was unprofessional a few time during my visits, if he wasn't that old, I would be reporting him to the Department of health. I strongly recommend seeing a different Doctor

I love Dr.Schim is my favorite doctor!! Out of MANY He is down to earth and an outstanding Neurologist. He is also an advanced surfer well known in Encinitas. This office and the staff are professional and happy. I rarely wait for more than 10 minutes. Heather Torrey Pine

I travel from Oregon every 3 months to see Dr Schim. I was having a hard time finding a Neurologist in Oregon that was willing & able to help treat my Chronic Migraines. I did some research on the internet & came across Dr Schim. I made an appointment & have been traveling to see Dr Schim for over a year. He is personable, knowledgeable & professional. It takes trust to allow someone to inject shots into your neck & head for treatment. I trust Dr Schim Completely & I Highly Recommend Dr. Schim

While Dr Schim is an amazing doctor, his office staff are terrible. I have been a patient for over a decade and am at my wit's end. His office staff are giving me migraines! I am starting to look for a new neurologist. It's too bad.

Experience was terrible. Rude, unprofessional in presentation and manner. Did not want to listen or take the time to explain. Would never go back to this office. Took many phone calls to schedule an appointment as the staff kept losing the paperwork.

Dr. Schim is the nicest guy, very serious and professional . He is the kind of doctor that really pays attention to what the patient is saying, He provides his insight and proposes a treatment carefully, then later is open to adjust the proposed treatment as needed..
