J Kent Thorne

Dr. Thorne came highly recommended by persons in the medical field that have worked closely with him. I would rate Dr. Thorne as A+++++. He is an outstanding, caring surgeon. In my opinion Dr. Thorne is an exceptional physician who rightly deserves the high position that he is held in the thoracic surgery community. His skills as a surgeon are only matched by his caring treatment of his patients. I without a second thought placed my full trust in him. I feel very grateful to be able to count him as my physician.

After a stroke, I was informed by other doctors that there was nothing I could do for a Carotid Artery damaged by radiation. Working with Dr. Diana Banks, Dr. Thorne was able to determine that my artery could be replaced with an artificial artery. A large section of the damaged artery was removed and a gore tex artificial artery was placed. This restored the artery to full function and I am no longer at additional risk of another stroke. Dr, Thorne did an excellent job and was great to work with.

Dr. Thorne has been completely open and answered every question I could think of about my upcoming surgery. He and his staff are friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable.

I consider myself blessed to have been in the hands of Kent Thorne MD. For me he has the hand's of God. He clearly saved my live and I will always be thankful. I walked in his office with torrential regurgitation caused by a screwed up mitral valve that needed repair or replacement immediately. His goal is to repair the valve first and foremost and the last resort replace it. In my case he was able to be repair it which was a bonus. I was referred to Doctor Thorne by of an incredible Doctor that was one of my childhood friends that told me he is the man for the job. On the last visit, Kent had had a difficult morning in surgery and looked a little beat. But he is always more than friendly with me, perhaps partially because I am an MD. But I always appreciate his openness and honesty in giving advice. I have always felt completely comfortable in trusting my care to him. No complaints.

On very short notice Dr Thorne preformed a Carotid Endarterectomy for a 97% blockage I had. He did a very professional surgery and saved my life. I cannot Thank him enough.

I had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Thorne for a sub-carotid stenosis. I mentioned that my 47 year old brother passed away suddenly from heart disease two weeks prior to my appointment. He looked at me and said that he wanted me to have a Stress EKG that afternoon. And that he thought that would "make me feel better". I had the test and it came back normal and I DO feel better. This physician is a cut above the rest, in the 99.9% for professionalism, expertise, and bedside manner.
