His surgery was a nightmare and left me disfigured for life! I was admitted to the thousand oaks surgical center for cervical fusion redo for what I was told was faulty hardware, before surgery I asked Dr Armstrong to keep the incisions on my neck minimal and that I would be more than willing to pay for a plastic surgeon. Out of surgery on the first day, I saw that he’d cut into my platysmas muscle and hadn’t reattached it leaving me with one muscle and a turkey neck. He was knowhere to be found after surgery and the intern was a incompetent SOB and eager to go home. These are vicious doctors and his name was provided to the FBI and the state AMA for license review along with the head nurse that caused me acute trauma while in her care. Within days I was followed by a woman into an AT&T shop that I didn’t know, suggesting that I get plastic surgery. Thousand Oaks surgical center was part of the complaint and is owned by Los Robles Hospital, also the corporation HCA. He deserves no stars and I would strongly suggest that you avoid him like the plague. His surgery was a nightmare and left me disfigured for life! Dr. Armstrong did my spinal surgery to clean up the severe spinal stenosis which I was suffering severe pain. He was very thorough in explaining specifically how the surgery would be conducted. He explained that the surgery was necessary to relieve the stenosis in my spine. The decision for surgery was completely my decision. he has excellent bedside manner.

I was referred to Dr. Armstrong by my physical therapist. My doctor had ordered an MRI which revealed a major ruptured disc and a severe crushed nerve root. My initial contact with Dr. Armstrong’s office was positive when a real person answered the phone and booked an appointment that same week. After reviewing my MRI and related report, Dr. Armstrong took considerable time explaining what was going on and what procedures he recommended. He is skilled, professional yet comfortable, and explains the treatment in basic layperson terms so you have a clear understanding. Dr. Armstrong is friendly, compassionate, kind, and puts you at ease, and he treats you like family. Dr. Armstrong explained how this crushed nerve root could impact my life if I didn’t have this surgery immediately. He literally saved my life. Each day is an improvement and I feel so much better with significantly less pain. If I ever need his services again, Dr. Armstrong will be the only neurosurgeon that I turn to.

Dr Armstrong performed my lumbar spinal fusion approx 5 yrs ago. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I had appointments with 3 other surgeons, and Dr Armstrong had the best balance between trying to treat the pain without surgery and ultimately making the decision to do surgery. I am still pain-free today. His bedside manner is amazing. He thoroughly explained everything, and was the only doctor to tell me what to realistically expect the first year post-op. My back pain snuck up on me and before I knew it the stiffness and pain was debilitating and was affecting every aspect of my life. Now 6 months after surgery I am active again and am regaining the flexibility. Best of all I'm moving pain-free.

I had radiating pain in my lower back that I lived with for almost 5 years. After being rear-ended in my car on the way home from work the pain was daily and my lifestyle changed. I talked with a friend that had consulted with Dr Armstrong and he had nothing but good things to say. When I met with Dr. Armstrong he explained what was causing my pain and scheduled a discogram and cat-scan and told me exactly what was causing the pain. It was a relief to finally know the extent of my injury. I decided to have surgery and it turned out to be a great decision. After 8 weeks of rehab and strength building I was completely free from pain. Best of all my range of motion and ability to exercise has increased dramatically. I cannot recommend Dr. Armstrong enough. He is friendly, easy to talk with and was an excellent surgeon. I had radiating pain in my lower back that I lived with for almost 5 years. Dr. Armstrong and his team made coming in for a consult easy and explained each of the form and potential treatment options. They even worked with my insurance company to confirm the coverage was there which was a big relief. Dr. A is amazing and made me feel like I was his only patient. I originally aggravated my lower back playing basketball in college. For years I made excuses, but after I re-aggravated it in bike accident I knew it was time to see a physician. Three months later, I met Dr. Ian Armstrong and he prepared an accelerated treatment plan to that included surgery and rehabilitation. It was an arduous recovery process but I am not pain-free and have flexibility that I haven't had in 20 years. Thank you Dr. Armstrong and his incredible staff. Dr Armstrong literally gave me my life back! My back problems were something that I dealt with every day. Can I do this activity? Can I grab something off the grocery store shelf? I felt disabled, but I didn't have the courage to seek help. Then in the Fall of last year I hit rock bottom. As I was getting up out of my chair at the office my back seized up and I couldn't take a step without shooting pain. The minute my lunch break started I searched online and found Dr. Armstrong. After a phone consultation and then an in-person appointment he was able to diagnose where my pain was coming from and a surgical course of action to correct it. Now, ten months later, I feel like I am fully recovered. There is no more pain when I walk and the feeling of helplessness that I dealt with for so long has gone away. Thank you Dr. Armstrong! Thank you, Dr. Armstrong, for basically saving my life. I had pain in my low back for a while that I has come to live with knowing it would not go away. After being hit by a car while riding my bike the pain I was experiencing in daily life was almost too much to handle. I didn't want to get out of bed. I couldn't even sit up. My lifestyle changed, and I began to dislike just waking up in the morning. I did some homework and decided to see Dr. Armstrong to get some semblance of relief. He explained the root cause of my pain and we scheduled a CT. After deciding to have surgery 3 months ago my back has not felt this good in years. I can say that recommend anyone with back or neck pain see Dr. Armstrong and get his medical opinion. It can change your life. Thank you, Dr. Armstrong, for basically saving my life. My back pain kind of snuck up on me as I got older and before I knew it my life was completely effected by the debilitating pain and discomfort. I suffered in silence rationalizing to myself that it was my bed or sitting too much, but after two plus years of pain I decided to do something about what was clearly an injury. Dr. Armstrong was a tremendous find and I am fortunate to have seen him. 6 months after surgery I'm healthy and active again and it is because of him.

The staff was really courteous and knowledgeable and they treated me like I was a regular long-time patient of theirs despite it being my first time in the office. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Armstrong. In addition to be a great doctor, he's a really kind and thoughtful person. He described the treatment plan and what he was going to do including the risks and expectant outcome. Couldn't be happier with my decision.

I was referred to Dr. Armstrong by a trusted friend. And that referral and the care I received from Dr. Armstrong and his staff, particularly Gia, Dr. Armstrong's Surgical Coordinator Nurse, was nothing short of amazing! My surgery was a complete success---I am free of all of my nerve pain ---and I have Dr. Armstrong to thank for helping me get my health back! I highly recommend Dr. Armstrong!

Dr. Armstrong and his assistant Gia have provided the best medical care. Gia advocated for me when I needed an urgent MRI and got is scheduled same day with results to Dr. Armstrong immediately after. Dr. Armstrong was able to give me a diagnosis quickly and provide a course of action quickly to alleviate the extreme pain I was in which turned out was a large herniated disc at L3/4 my own HMO Urgent Care didn't diagnose. I'm forever grateful for their excellent care.

Dr. Armstrong preformed my spinal surgery on February 2, 2018. That was a happy day ! I felt immediate relief after my surgery. I am in my 8th wk of recovery of C5C6,C6C7 spinal surgery. My neck, arm pain and headaches on my left side are gone. Dr. Armstrong listened to me explain my pain. When I finished he then replied by explaining my MRI and what is causing the pain and his recommendation of surgery. I was 100% all in... I am grateful and thankful that we have this amazing Dr. in CA.

I'm a 55 year old female, I have worked all my adult life. In Oct. 2015 I was placed on disability due to neck pain, I had never encountered this before, I had neck pain pretty much forever but it would come and go, however this neck pain was not going away, it was getting worse. I was referred to Dr. Armstrong by my Chiropractor and I am so happy I was. We had to go through many doors (insurance), but I finally had a 3-fusion and am on the road to recovery.
