Everything he is a good doctor

Don't waste your time.. He doesn't listen to patients, when I explained that I can't take acetaminophen nor Naprosyn to preserve kidney function due to heavy load of diuretics I already take because of liver disease and on transplant list @ MUSC. I quit going because he won't even listen to patient. He was only prescribing 5mg of Norco ONCE PER DAY, which didn't help one bit. Worst Dr I've personally been to in this area

Ethically speaking, Dr. Mourtada has medically treated me with legitimate prudence, as I believe he has with all his patients seeking pain management. He is very professional in what he does, thus I know his bedside manner cannot be as most family doctors (GPs) are known to be, while treating their patients. His Specialty requires a certain degree of separation. Because of the dangers of prescribing narcotic medication, Dr. Mourtada does not and will not cross the ethical boundaries that he has set for his patients under his care. His commitment to that constitutes a more firm approach with his patients that he should not be called upon to ever yield from.

Dr Murtada decides to go on vacation and leave his pt without any RX for seven days. Then his M.A had the nerve to call my phone and blame me for not calling my RX in earlier for a refill!! It's illegal and unprofessional to leave your pts without any medication. Do not go there!!!!

Answered all my concerns and possible other treatments . Dr Maurtada is a very good doctor who cares about his patients and wants to try an help with pain issues that patients have...

Dr. M treated me and my friend like addicts, even though nether of us have ever had an addiction problem. We both felt very disrespected and refuse to see him again. He was absolutely unprofessional and I would not recommend him to anyone. If your doctor refers to him, ask for a different doctor.

The receptionist was beyond wonderful and I felt really seen and appreciated. Dr Mourtada was a different story. I filled out the paperwork that was mailed to me and then spent 45 more minutes filling out even more paperwork online for the appointment. When I got to the appointment the nurse had me reiterate all of my answers again even though that was my third time having the same information put into the computer. And then the doctor came in and asked me again again to tell him the same information. I brought my pain medications with me as asked for but no one looked at any of them. He messed up on my medication and did not listen to my questions or comments at all. I got the distinct feeling that he did not believe that I have had level 10 pain for the past 5 years let alone my chronic pain that has been 15 years despite me being in a wheelchair. Within 10 minutes I was done with the appointment and the doctor who refused to consider me a human being with feelings and continually talked down to me. As I wheeled myself out the door he told me there was no way I would find a doctor better than him who would help me. On the way out the receptionist helped me find the exit and held doors open for me as I wheeled myself through. He Told Me To Find Another Pain Management Doctor !!!

The nurse and receptionist were the only good things there. The doctor was abrasive and insensitive at best.

Worst ever....I was there for my spine, he never touched or did anything to my back but had no problem doing things to front of my body, so unprofessional rude...left there crying

This Dr is inexperienced and makes no claim to the contrary. He is also a liar and a coward. He totally lied about my visit to my referring Dr and I take this very personally. Don't waste your time with this moronic, lying and inexperienced excuse for someone who took an oath to help people in pain.

UPDATE - No choice but to lower rating again (began at 5 stars). I drove 51 miles (roundtrip) for the appt I'd waited more than a wk for and was yelled at and verbally abused by the doctor. This has never happened before. The unprofessional behavior was shocking, hurtful, and frightening. Sadly I don't see how a therapeutic relationship can be re-established. --------------------------------- UPDATE - Unfortunately I need to lower his rating from 5 stars to 2. Hours after posting the original review, I had a bad reaction to several injections Dr. Mourtada had provided. I contacted the office via emails and calls and did so several times for a wk. No one responded with questions or advice. Finally told to make an appointment (virtual wasn't offered). The appt was 2wks out. 2wks. More days pass and I'm offered an appt in Spartanburg...51 miles round-trip. There wasn't another choice so I graciously accepted. -------------------------- Original Review - Dr. Mourtada is sympathetic to my chronic pain. He's an outstanding listener, and unlike other doctors, he's never minimized my pain or assumed how it feels to have advanced scoliosis, muscle spasms, etc. or made me feel guilty or badly for having pain. (If you've been in pain management awhile, I'm sure you've felt judged by a few of the bad docs/NPs out there simply for expressing your pain.) Ive been going to the office for almost 1yr. Support staff are so kind and caring. They get 5 stars. Dr Mourtada really let me down. Follow up visit post bilateral epidurals and still in a lot of pain, Dr M’s advice was bluntly delivered: ibuprofen, use ice pack, and to come back in a month. I’ve been getting facet joint injections from Interventional Radiologists in a hospital setting for over 10 years. I have never taken more than Ibuprofen. My hope was to find a practice that really understood pain, what those of us who endure it have to physically and mentally go through. Dr Mourtada’s methodology is not for me. Everything went very well. Dr. Mourtada scheduled me for an epidural quickly and listen to my concerns about my back and also thought of my uncle. He was very understanding and thorough.

Porsha greeted me with kindness and a smile while I filled out paperwork and gave back my ID & insurance card in a timely matter. Short wait time. Dr. Husam Mourtada's assistant asked routine questions which didn't take long. I had already filled out most all of the paperwork online. Overall great experience.

Nothing. I have been a patient of Dr Mourtada's and his staff, which has been practically the same, for 13 years and they are consistently loving and caring for their patients. They don't try to zonk you with strong narcotics but they do what they can to help us manage these terriblr chronic illnesses. I was actually a bit concerned about the negative reviews of Dr. Mourtada prior to my first appointment for a spine injection. No worries needed! I found him to be very pleasant, he answered all my questions and was very professional. I will return to him, happily.

All he wanted to do what is rehab I don't need rehab it is past that point

So far my visit with the doctor was good he has recommended me to get other test and I will come back to sleep I am satisfied with my doctor

Seems to be uncaring. My husband had a steroid injection in back and he had a bad reaction. He (dr) ordered another round of the same shot. He does NOT listen or care about his patient just wants to do surgery.
