Dr. Howard I Cohen

Dr Cohen was recommended to me by a colleague and have been going to him for over 3 years now! He is a great eye doctor , very kind and patient! I would highly recommend!

Good Day I have been with Dr. Cohen for many years. I'm sure my insurance coverage has taken good care of this practice. No complaints til the last 2 years. I've noticed some uncomfortable attitude from the front desk clerk. I really tried to disregard it . But once I missed my appointment today,, with good reasons. This clerk really showed her true self, very rude, nasty and unbecoming.. She was the worst. As I read the reviews, this clerk has history. So sad, I will cater to a new eye practice its best, because I wasn't fairly treated when my glasses broke last year, and they should of been replaced according to my eye coverage. You wrote a review for Howard I Cohen OD One week ago 1.0 star rating 1/20/2022 I do not recommend Dr. Cohen. During an annual eye exam, I informed Dr. Cohen I was having difficulty seeing and my eyes felt scratchy. Dr. Cohen did not seem concerned and replied " Just use artificial tears drops" Dr. Cohen gave me a new prescription for glasses, which were ready 7 days later. When I put them on I was STILL unable to see clearly. After several days of hoping my eyes would adjust to the new prescription from Dr. Cohen - I still struggled to see. I decided to see another optometrist, who advised the script (by Dr. Cohen) was incorrect for my eyes, they were too powerful. Also I had an inflammation on the cornea's, I was instructed to stop using the artificial tears and to go see a cornea specialist ASAP. Which I have done and have been diagnosed with and infection in my eyelids (Blepharitis) and inflammation of the cornea (Keratits). The failure to identify this condition by Dr. Cohen could have cost me my vision. I am extremely lucky to have gotten a second option by a more knowledgable and competent optometrist. I’m super upset to be writing this review, I’ve been going here since I was 5 literally 19 years of my life. I’ve never missed an appointment, unfortunately today I got stuck in traffic and missed my appointment and when i called the front desk to reschedule and explained the situation I was met with a lot of hostility and attitude. Apparently a family member of mine (who I don’t live with) missed an appointment and this upset the front desk lady so when I called to reschedule she proceeded to be extremely rude and told me that unfortunately she “has a high demand for her appointments so I’d need to find somewhere else to go and that she can’t accommodate me any longer”. I’d understand if I’d missed many appointments but I am an adult and handle my own appointments and have never missed one before today, but I’m human and mistakes happen. I’m honestly very confused and uncomfortable with the way I was spoken to- front desk people should not be speaking like that to people, especially when there wasn’t any negative energy or malice on my part.... just very upsetting experience and it sucks because dr Cohen is a great doctor. Regarding the prior unsatisfactory review, this gentleman nor his wife is our patient. As often happens, some people confuse Dr. Cohen's private practice with the chain store...Cohen's Fashion Optical. Just wanted to set the record straight for anyone who might be reading reviews. : )

Very nice and knowledgeable about what he does. Never had a bad experience. Comfortable setting.

I’ve know Dr Cohen for many years and he has always been a caring and concerned person who treats you like family. Small warm and friendly office makes you feel completely relaxed and comfortable in knowing that you will be getting the best in care.

Just like pearle vision completely useless business. They did not do their job. The nose pads dig into my wife's nose causing deep problems and possible scarring. The did not even fit her properly and the doctor is completely a waste. He adjusted them to sit so low on her nose like she is a librarian. First time she got them and they were not correct. Then she went back because of the pads and they adjusted like a joke. They don't care and have proven useless. So they took my money/insurance i break my ass to pay for every week and will not do anything about it. Do yourself a favor and do not go to these hacks and thieves. They are a joke.
