I saw Dr. Shah at Banner Desert after being admitted for chest pain and shortness of breath after giving birth. If giving negative stars was an option, she'd be a full -5 stars. Not only was I grossly misdiagnosed, she refused to give me medications that would have only helped my condition (severe fluid retention and she refused to give diuretics for a full 4 day stay--I couldn't bend my feet because my ankles were so swollen). She diagnosed me with CHF and told me that I was going to die. Literally, "well this is CHF and you're probably gonna die in a few years". I have been informed since that I don't have CHF, and that while I had gone into it during labor--it wasn't a permanent diagnosis. I was also told that when I had gone into heart failure during labor, that it was due to fluid retention--something she could've simply fixed by letting me take diuretics. Most importantly, I was assured that I'm not going to die anytime soon because I went into heart failure during labor. And after she drilled it into me and made me picture a future where my newborn and husband had to live without me, I can't imagine what she was thinking--how she thought that was appropriate, or correct. I get she doesn't see young people, let alone new mothers often, but she completely overlooked the fact that I had just had a baby, where my body had been pushed to the limits. I had an especially traumatic birthing experience, from when I went into labor to when I finally pushed my baby out--it was overall 4 days of laboring and contracting before my water broke. She ignored this, and diagnosed me with a death sentence and gave me inadequate tools to care for myself. She was awful and rude to me when I was alone, but was Ms. Sunshine and Rainbows when my family--ESPECIALLY my husband was in the room. And after berating me and telling me that I was going to die, she gave me her card and said "you'll see me once you're out of the hospital." The fact that someone can be such a terrible doctor and yet be so confident and self-deluded is terrifying. Call Tri-City Cardiology. They'll treat you like a person, and be far more knowledgeable than Dr. Shah ever could be.

This doctor Hamal Shah disrespects and humiliates her patients with thoughtless, crass comments. I have lost all respect for her, and she no longer deserves my respect. She made fun of my legs. I have suffered from lipodermatosclerosis for over a year from my lungs being scarred years ago by pneumonia and Valley fever, according to another physician. She made fun of my tummy and my weight which I gained only in my fourth decade of diabetes, because I was a tiny size 6 when I was diagnosed. She is mean spirited and hateful. I now have another cardiologist who is removing me from the immensive amount of meds Hamal had prescribed. My new cardiologist said that my heart condition is not that bad, which Hamal had me to believe. Both my endocrinologist and dietician are appalled at the fasting diet Hamal Shah prescribed which has caused me problems with low blood sugar, and they want me back on my healthier diabetic diet.

Ridiculous wait times, rude staff, & arrogant physician. She almost cost me my life & avoided me afterwards, not wanting to explain any of the multiple problems that occurred during a very rushed procedure that she was running late for!

My 19 year old son was having chest pains for 2 months.. after seeing 2 primary care doctors, 2 ER doctors and a pulmonologist we finally got some answers… Dr Shah spent so much time with my son listening to all of his symptoms and was very thorough with her investigation into where his pain is coming from… she feels she knows the issue but has ordered some further testing to be sure! would never send anyone to heart & Rhythm Solutions ran by Dr. Himal Shah. I see ALL my doctors in the Phoenix area, I lived there for over twenty years. I have flown & drove across country to see my physicians. I always take great care in planning my trip to get the biggest bang for my time & energy. The appointment I had scheduled with her, was planned for and cost $350 plus food and my sister took a week off work to help me travel with my service dog. Some tests they can’t attend… upon arrival I waited for over an hour and then was told Dr Shah was not there and I would be seeing the MA!!! Needless to say I was triggered. The MA said she wanted certain tests done and said I would be hearing about scheduling a couple of them. The others I scheduled the appointment in Chandler. Two weeks later, nothing.. I called again and was told again ,”I will hear from ‘someone’ from the sleep study place soon” I didn’t get that call until after Dr. Shah called me for a phone appointment three weeks after my office visit, when she wasn’t there. Over an hour late she finally called. One of her first questions was, could I get the tests done in New Mexico?!!!!!???????? next she told me my insurance was hiring her, not me… well that’s news to me… my insurance goes where I go… after a very frustrating conversation in which she didn’t tell me anything, I asked about the sleep study , she says she’d check on it and we hung up. Two minutes later the sleep study company called wanting to make an office visit appointment…. In CHANDLER!!!!!!!! She had just said I could do the tests here… I fired Dr. Shah, my PCP is now ordering the tests and I’ll hire a electro physiologist to read the results and move forward from there. I’ve been a medical practitioner for fourty years and have worked in every department of a hospital, this is NOT proper medical care. I would never recommend Dr. Shah or her staff.

The office staff and manager messed up on 3 of my 94 mile appointments. The last straw was the 4th time I was to have special shots in my stomach 3 days before surgery and the office never called it in. Will be changing cardiologist. Not acceptable to wait an hour and 10 minutes for a telemed call to happen. Wait times in the office for your appointment aren't much better. Your time isn't important to them. When I called in to the office and said I had to go and couldn't wait any longer (after being told 20m earlier that it would only be a few minutes), front desk asked to put me on hold then hung up. I am 45 years old with a history of a stroke at 41 yrs old. I was referred to Dr. Shah and have only been able to see her while passing in the hallway. I find it unacceptable that a medical professional who has a new patient through a referral and highly recommended does not even make time to attend the appointment herself. If I did not show up for the appointment I would be given a bill for a no-show. I find it a waste of my time to be seen by a PA/MA when the doctor is submitting a bill for services that she does not provide. I have numerous concerning experiences with this doctor including the fact she is being paid by my insurance company and myself for services she specifically is not rendering including my very first visit. I am even tempted to appeal the charges from her with my insurance company. If she does not have to provide personal attention to patients then she should not be accepting new patients/referrals.

Wish I could give them 6 stars. The staff here seem pretty well organized and by my second visit they were greeting me by name. Appointments have been available on short notice and they really make me feel like my heart is their top priority. As for Dr. Shah, I've never had a Dr. who would personally call me at 9pm to let me know test results were in and that it was ok to start taking my new medication immediately. She is all in when it comes to her patients treatment. Last year I spent nearly 5 months in AFib. 2 cardioversions and a few hundred Amiodorone pills couldn't keep me out of it. This year when I went into Afib I was sent to Dr. Shah for the first time. Her and her staff completely changed my medication and with daily visits to adjust it I was back in sinus rhythm after 3 days. When it comes to Afib, they really know their stuff. If you are suffering from an irregular heart rhythm I cannot recommend Dr. Shah and her team enough. Wish I could give them 6 stars. So Dr. Shah - who has proctored my cardiac healthcare for the past 3 years - thought I needed a bi-pap at bedtime and scheduled a sleep study. I was angry with her even after it showed my sleep apnea. Eventually I accepted the results (and machine) and now I sleep almost all night and feel better during the day. Even my yearly heart function is improved. Guess I'm no longer angry at her as my Cardiologist. Can't imagine why anybody else would be either. Run, run as fast as you can. 5 months and I am still waiting for results. They refuse to give my Dr a simple "yes " or " no" whether I have a heart issue or not holding up my care. They gave me 2 pieces of papers with tests results one said 2 yrs old pediatric and the other said male which I am never further confusing the issue.... then said she spent extensive time with me.....problem is I never saw her. So she ordered tests for a patient she never saw and then paperwork says 2 yrs old......hmmm

Be beware if you get referred over from another physician they will not provide test results to your DR. They make you come back so they can hit your insurance again. They will not release them even though they have been paid. So they hold your records hostage. I agree with others go somewhere else , rude , unhelpful and unprofessional.I never once even saw the Dr and I now no idea if I have a heart problem or not. The only copy they gave me was actually for another patient so I am sure thats against HIPPA. They claim the Dr spent extensive time with me although I never once saw the Dr.

As a cardiac specialist, Dr.Shah is top notch. She saved my life with an ablation to stop my A-Flutter/AFib. That being said, her staff needs improvement, especially her PA - e has absolutely no bedside manner, and appears to be more interested in typing on her laptop than she is listening to her patient. At first, thought it was me just being touchy but I have met with her 4 times now and her behavior is never any different. From now on I will make sure to see Dr.Shah and not her PA!

I liked Dr. Shah and her staff, but beyond that I haven't had a great experience. I was referred to Dr. Shah when my GP thought I might have Afib. After an EKG and a 2 minute evaluation she decided I had SVT and offered to schedule a cardiac ablation ASAP. I'm not even 40 and that's a big procedure to me, so she told me she suggested I wear a monitor and have a cardiac ultrasound. It's been TWO MONTHS and still no results I'm guessing/hoping it's not a life threatening condition

Dr. Shah is exceptionally talented in her profession. Recently most of the office staff and the other Dr have either left or been fired. Each time I go to the office there is new staff. Currently there is only Dr Shah and her Nurse Practitioner. Med. assistants are less than qualified. I am pursuing changing doctors at this time. I will agree with others that the waiting times are outrageous and with only Dr Shah it is impossible to get appts. I have lost confidence with her practice.

There seems to be a serious lack of communication between staff and Dr. I have had to wait 24 - 48 hours to get test results that can change the amount of a certain medication I am on. Phone calls are not returned in a timely manner regarding medications. After being discharged from the hospital I had a follow up appointment with Dr. Shah. There was a great deal of confusion over what medicine I should be taking. She claimed she didn't know what the discharging Dr. had prescribed.

My family and I are very disappointed in Dr. Shah's practice. My 83yo father has been a patient of Dr. Shah's for some time now and he was put on hospice. Since on hospice, his defibrillator needs to be turned off, he is now a DNR. Dr. Shah herself and her staff have promised many times that they would get back to us and 1-2mos later we still hear nothing, even after proactively calling weekly. The hospice finally has just decided to override her care after many failed attempts to reach her.
