Dr. Herman Preston Lam

I went to many ENT doctors and I didn't like them at all. Dr. Lam is the only one that I like and he definitely deserves a 5 star rating!! I will be coming back to this doctor because he really knows what he is doing!!

Dr. Lam and his staff are professional while being personable. I've seen Dr. Lam for both cosmetic and medical reasons--he has great skill and patience explaining everything. His office is pristine and calm in the craziness of Chinatown.

I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Lam and his team. Dr. Lam is a consummate professional that has helped my wife and me time and time again. He really knows his fields as a doctor and is calm and funny and is always willing to help out in a pinch. I'm gone to him for everything from regular ENT procedures to consultations about facial injuries that I sustained. I would HIGHLY recommend above. If I could give more the 5 stars, I would. I would highly recommend this office and Doctor. I initially went to Dr. Lam because I was having trouble breathing out of left nostril. Dr. Lam determined that I had a deviated septum, small nasal polyps, and hypertrophy (enlarged turbinates). He started me off with nasal corticosteroids and rinsing with a saline solution, to drain my sinuses, to see if that would ease the symptoms. Then he gave me antibiotics. Unfortunately none of those interventions worked and Dr. Lam explained to me how two procedures (septoplasty and turbinectomy), and how they will bring me relief. Recently, he performed the surgeries and though I still have the splint in, I’m already breathing better. I appreciate Dr. Lam’s professionalism and his willingness to listen to his patients and not rush for surgery. He truly tried everything possible before he recommended surgery. He is a great Doctor and I will continue going to him. Additionally, his staff is amazing and always accommodating and I would like to thank them as well! Dr. Lam was instrumental in saving my life. My GP had not been aggressive in helping me on the diagnostic pathway and that was why I came to see Dr. Lam. He took me seriously and helped me work toward diagnosis which allowed me to seek treatment, and recovery. If Dr. Lam hadn’t been so active, accessible, and flexible in appointment times (which was a big concern for me) my symptoms may have gone on longer and my disease would have progressed more. I highly recommend Dr Lam, he is very kind and has great bedside manner. He helped me resolve my chronic tonsil issues and performed my adult tonsillectomy, no complications whatsoever. Great doctor!

Doctor Lam is the best. He performed a septoplasty on me and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable during the recovery period. He was very attentive, careful, patient and was always there for me.

Dr Lam listened to me and I didnt feel any rush at all as i told him my list of symptoms. He was so thorough and better than any other ENT i've seen. the office was so clean and i was the only one there during my appointment time, which was relieving because covid. i felt better within days of seeing him, i absolutely recommend Dr Lam!

I had an urgent issue that needed looked at - and I was referred to their office. They called me to schedule an appointment for the next day! Dr. Lam and his office were exceptional from beginning to end. Check-in was easy. Both staff members at the front desk were kind, helpful and welcoming. Dr. Lam was patient, informative, knowledgeable and genuinely cared to figure out what was going on. He asked great questions and answered all of mine. I left feeling reassured that I: 1) know what the issues are, 2) know how to deal with them, 3) know the next steps I need to take, 4) know the expectations for recovery and, 5) know what to do in case any of that doesn't go as it should. Dr. Lam is excellent! He was easy to communicate with, knowledgeable, very helpful, and had a very clean office. I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends.

Dr Lam was extremely personal and understanding. He offered a detailed explanation of my problem and even performed a minor surgery on the spot, which was very well executed and didn’t hurt at all. He didn’t charge me for my follow up, and the staff was also very polite and helpful. Couldn’t recommend him more.

I have terrible, Medicaid-based insurance and had pain from impacted ear wax & a cotton bud for a few days when I first went to see Dr. Lam. The last time I had to deal with impacted wax, I went to someone at Mt Sinai in Manhattan who made me wait 1.5 hours. (Thank God I had nothing else to do afterward that day.) Before that, a particularly boneheaded doctor stuck an alligator forceps in my ear without softening the wax first (one of the most torturously painful things I've ever experienced). I was able to make an appointment with this office quickly and be seen pretty quickly on a weekend, under half an hour wait (maybe I was lucky? I don't blame docs for overbooking or running late, to a point). Either way...if it weren't for multilingual doctors like Dr. Lam who take many (and not-so-great) insurances in Lower Manhattan, I basically wouldn't have had medical care for the last five years. I'm extremely grateful and doubly so that he would see me and help me on a weekend. Did I have a super complex problem? Maybe not. But if I needed testing for ENT issues in the future, I would go back to Dr. Lam for help without a second thought. He was easy to talk to and wanted to help. Saw Dr. Lam for a cold and nasal congestion. I also mentioned I had surgery for deviated septum a few years back. He used a scope on my nose and said it was inflamed due to some allergies and also the cold. I was blowing my nose a lot so that would explain the inflammation. Gave me a spray in office and also wrote me a prescription for at home spray which had me back to normal in no time. Many thanks!
