The Doctors and the PAs are amazing but the Office Managers that answer the phone for prescription refills need training on how to effectively communicate with clients. They are rude , quick to react negatively, and think they are junior physicians. When asked may l speak with my doctor because l could no longer tolerate the questioning as to why did l need a refill when l should have 5 pills left AND after explaining l wanted to ensure that my prescription would be ready when those 5 were finished because the refilling of A prescription from this OFFICE is such a long and tedious process when dealing with the Office Manager/ s. l was told that l was not ganrantee a phone call back from the doctor or the Office Managers! I then asked what was the purpose of "calling" for a refill ????? I explained my doctor said to call a few days before the prescription runs out for a refill. I was told by the office manger.... "NO, You must come in!" I said l was just there a few months ago. l just need a refill per my doctor. I have been serviced by the Patel Office of Medical Doctors for over 20 yrs AND on the same basic prescription for half my life! Please.... just let me speak to my doctor OR give me a call back after finding out about my REFILL. I didn't need the hostile 10 minute tone and the back and forth about a REFILL. The rude Office Manager hung up on me after l said, "l'm so tired of this process over a freaking refill." I'm seriously considering finding a new medical facility. The entire front desk service at the Adam Clayton Powell location is a 2 out of 5 star RATE. Training their Office Managers is MUST!

One of the worst "healthcare" experiences I've had in 20 years. These people were rude beyond imagining from the front desk to the doctor. As a new patient, before I even wrote my name down on the patient check-in they presumed what I was there for incorrectly. When I asked why exactly they presumed what they did there was no explanation other than it's Saturday. I was questioned about where I learned medical terminology and how I knew certain words. I was insulted several times by both Dr Patel and the physician's assistant who took my history. I was not called by my name and when I corrected them several times I was told "well you know we're talking to you." I wouldn't recommend anybody go here. When I voiced concerns about a medication I was being placed on I got the explanation well I hear you but there's going to be some issue with just about every medication some drawbacks and "I'm not aware of the study you're sighting , it works well with the Black community." While I understand that certain medications do respond better in certain populations, to just outright dismiss my concerns when you have other treatment options well .. that's insensitive at best and rude and dismissive at worse. Subsequent physicians were able to respond to my concerns and prescribe other options. Dr Patel dismissed me out of hand. He fixated on one of my conditions and then gave me a two sentence explanation on how that should be treated although he'd not done one drop of blood work or diagnostic testing and I've been struggling with this condition for years. Somebody ought to take this person's license away. I complained to my insurance company. If more people did that maybe they'd spare others the experience of having to go to this person. I’ve been coming here for 5 years now and they are always helpful and so nice. The PA’s are my favorite. I usually only have to be at this office for 1hr max if you have an appointment.

The front desk is not attentive and dismissing. But whatever. I had an appointment on 10/18/21 for stress test at 9.15. The cardiologist saw me at 10.45, didn't do proper assessment, didn't even say hello. He used his stetoscope to listen to my heart for 10 seconds and confirmed my medical history. At 10.50 I am informed that i have to wait at least another hour for the stress test! I couldn't wait anymore and the next reschedule is in a month. The manager didn't want to refund my copayment and still will bill me. I just had to leave. This disrespectful treatment is unacceptable. The doctor’s are great! However the front desk is not very friendly they barely look up to greet you when you walk over to them.

Terrible place! The office is always crowded because things always ran so late. I and a lot of others, only went there because we could be seen as a walk in, if you sick. When you are a working person, this is so valuable. When I used my private insurance, there was no waiting. I was seen in what seemed like immediately. When I was out of work and used government insurance, I was made to wait for hours! His staff are usually kind of stiff and seemed overworked. It has been my experience that when you find a tense staff, look no further than the director for the reason. I have worked with many doctors, who seem like great people but treat their staff like total garbage! In the two years I was a patient there, I saw Dr. Patel twice, maybe three times. He had dreadful people skills and when I dated to question a prescription and diagnosis, he fussed at me, even raising his voice. I begged for a pulmonology referral, which he begrudgingly gave me. I selected my own pulmonologist (he mostly sends you to his buddies). The pulmonologist ended up referring me to a cardiologist, who discovered that my problem was caused by a my unknown allergy to a medication Dr. Patel had me on! Thank goodness I worked in healthcare and was aware and fought for my patient rights. If I did not stand up for myself and demand a referral, who knows what would have happened to me? Terrible customer service. Multiple receptionists but the phone barely gets answered. When someone answers, don’t expect satisfactory help if you call to do anything other than make an appointment. They don’t care about your health or needs, just that patients keep coming in.

I had a bad experience wit this Dr. he gave me meds that I didn’t need I almost past out thank God my mother worked in the healthcare field or I would have been dead.i think they be robbing the insurance co, the girls at the front dest needs to be fired they are unprofessional. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE, this place doesn’t care about anything or anyone but getting paid, they will confirm your appointment to make you come in charge your insurance & co pay to then tell you that you can’t be seen or do the procedure you are there for. I’ve never encountered with a group of more unprofessional individuals before. These people don’t have clear communication as a team no one knows what’s going on and what to do with the exception of the GYN who’s always been great to me, this place definitely doesn’t deserve her experience and knowledge. I had a worst experience in this doctor office. Dr Pavithra is being rude and illmannered. she talked to me so badly. I would never go there again.

DR. H. PATEL was rude no people skills and he has his employees lie and try to do his dirty work. Dr. Patel dismisses you if you ask questions of him and his practice.

Not a good experience trying to reach the Boston Rd. office. Or trying to relate a msg. to Dr. M. Fears. it was very stressful this Monday 11/18/19. not a happy patient. someone please look into this. thank you.

The staff besides Erika and Dr. Patience as well as Dr. Castro are terrible. Poor service and attention there. The guy at the front desk is the worst answering phone calls and in person worst. He just wasted time instead of asking for help when he doesn’t know what he’s doing referral wise. Then downstairs the heavy set Indian guy thinks he runs the show and has no clue what he’s doing either with patients always a problem over all never a positive good in and out service. Doctor Patel I visit the office on Tuesday my appointment was 1130 I got in the office at 1115 after 1200 I went to the front desk to tell the M A I needed my weight and pressure done because it was over a year but. The other patients got it done it was 100 before the doctor call she like always on her phone the clinic is hping down my husband Dwalen Bryant left gor the same reason the services I had a 130 appointment at 124 in Madison for my breast they was not professional your son was mean also at 1245 I when to the front desk she say it was 7 patients in front of me MA should say we back up it 7 pts in front of you do you was to change your appointment. this office is consistently forcing patients to take as many tests as they can muster up. It doesn't matter what your there for, you need this test and that.

I do not recommend this place. The customer service is horrible. I called in today to schedule 2 appointments, instead i was told to hold ans transferred to a voicemail. I called 2 more times and the person picked up and hung it up. They treat patients with no respect what so ever. Any excuse to charge your insurance.

I have a really bad experience with this doctors office. I’m very disappointed. I went to this office on August to see Dr. Castro a really nice doctor. But the medication I never received at the pharmacy!!!! I called several times for my medication and I never received in the Farmacy very unprofessional!!... after that I went for my GYN appointment and the doctor was crazy she never pay attention to what I said I’m pregnant and I never received my prenatal pills. I call 2 times after my appointment and I spoke to a crazy manager and he told me that , the crazy doctor will call me back and I never received the phone call from her. After that I call again and he transfer the call to office she was located... the other manager was a woman very nasty attitude. This not how to treat a patient they don’t have manners. This took place in 2017. The front desk receptionist was rude. She repeatedly lied to me about forwarding my refills for asthma medicines, to my pharmacist. The First time, she lied to my face, "I'm sending it now", then two days later over the phone, "I sent it just now". Three days later, She even hung up on the pharmacist who called for my refill information, after first placing them on hold for 5 minutes. At that point, the pharmacist was kind enough to give me a few other options to seek medical care, even closer to me, that accept the coverage I have. I haven't been back to Patel's office since. Awesome filled with hospitality and patient relationship. Very resourceful. This is the place filled with doctors that saved my dad's life. They take their time to care for their patients and listen to their patients. So grateful to have them available for my needs. I've seen patients rude and they are so patient with them. Worst doctor. Arrived an hour late in the office. Barely reviewed the notes from the internist who went over my medical issues. Did not listen any of my concerns. Could not care less about improving my health and involving me in decisions related to my own health. Only eager to show his doctor "authority."

I would give a negative review if possible. Dealing with this practice has been nothing but a nightmare. Incorrect billing, impossible to get anyone on the phone, I could go on but I don't want to waste any more time thinking about this.
