About Dr. Heidi Chamberlain Shea
Reviews for Dr. Heidi Chamberlain Shea
My daughter as well as myself have been seeing Dr. Shea for several years. She is great at what she does and very thorough. It is a little hard to get into her but she has a Nurse Practitioner that is great when she is not available!
We appreciate Dr. Shea being our son’s Doctor. We have been under her care for several years now. She is kind, thorough and explains things to us in a way that we all understand. My son is thriving and we owe it to the care they provide at this office! Thanks! The Rowlands
Dr. Shea has the most terrible bedside manner! I had taken my teenage daughter to see her on the advice of her dermatologist for hair loss. Dr. Shea spent only 3 mins with us after making us wait for an hour past the appointment time. She bluntly told my daughter that she is already on way too many medicines. She rudely said she didn't know why we were there to see her and that there is nothing we can do! Both me and my daughter left her office in tears. She might be knowledgeable, but needs to have compassion for her patients first. There are a lot of other endocrinologists around who have empathy and decency. I do not recommend her at all! I was referred to Dr. Shea after a hospitalization at Texas Health Resources in Plano. I was hospitalized for DKA and pancreatitis. When I called in August to get an appointment, they had received my information already. The woman on the phone said they’d review my info and let me know “if” Dr. Shea would see me. A few days later, I received a call to schedule my appointment. The woman on the phone said I wasn’t urgent, so they’d see me in two months. It was mid August, and she wanted to schedule me for the end of October. DKA isn’t urgent? Between then and now, I’ve seen a wonderful endocrinologist, Dr. Subramanyan TWICE. I don’t know what Dr. Shea considers urgent, but after being in the hospital 7 times this year (including ICU 2x), I wasn’t waiting two months to be seen. Her scheduling staff isn’t very friendly nor understanding. I wouldn’t recommend her and I plan on telling my GI who referred her that he shouldn’t continue to do so. I don’t like to leave negative reviews however the experience that I had from the staffs was extremely unprofessional. My daughter was referred to Dr. Shea Through her pediatric. We met with the Dr. Shea once few month ago. The visit went well however every other meeting or appointment with the nurses or the front office was the worse. No follow ups , no specific instructions on what is needed to be done. You need to call and follow up so many times and speak to someone so you can get a response back. The front office when you call it’s a hit or miss if you can get someone who isn’t rude to speak to you. This is Dr office and they should treat their patients with respect. The staff were friendly and courteous, the office was clean and Covid 19 guidelines were being followed. We felt safe and comfortable. Dr Shea was friendly, kind compassionate and personable. She had extensive knowledge of the many health problems that my daughter is going through and patiently waited for us to explain what has been going on. She is working with our other specialists to help figure out the best course of action for my daughter and is doing some more testing. We were even able to have her blood done right there in the office by Tara who was fantastic and made the experience easy on her and had her smiling. 5 stars for sure . Incredibly frustrated and disheartened after my appointment with Doctor Shea. Not only did I wait for nearly 90 minutes to be seen, she seemed irritated that I didn’t know anything about the disease with which she had barely diagnosed me — most unfeelingly, might I add. She was visibly mad that I would ask questions about a disease I’ve never heard of but will have for the rest of my life. I hard cried all the way home. Definitely will not be back.
Dr shea was relly nice she checked me. At doctor so happy to see dr shea
This review is more about the gatekeepers than the actual doctors. I called a month ago when I received my referral to these doctors. My son is being seen for a very rare and hard to diagnose cancer. Only one associate in their office has experience with it but the office staff will not speak to her about my son. They refuse to see him because he is not two years older than he is now. I didn't know cancer had age limitations... The Plano office is the only location with a doctor who will see my son, but before they see him they will have to review his records to see if he qualifies?? WTH? Since when do you need to qualify to see a doctor. Again this is a very rare and hard to diagnose cancer, but the gatekeepers will not even speak to the doctors. I called a month ago and spoke to someone who was supposed to call me back, and here we are... still waiting.
I saw Dr. Shea yesterday for my medical. I was told by someone in the medical profession that it is sometimes hard to get an appointment with an endocrinologist. I had an appointment the next day with a follow up the day after. Her staff was courteous, outgoing, and a pleasure. I have dealt with numerous doctors, and they typically are straight to the point and hard to understand. Dr. Shea explained everything in a manner that I was able to understand and comprehend. I was nervous walking into this office after reading some of the reviews however, I have to say my experience with Dr. Shea and the team entire team was second to none! Everyone was extremely polite from the moment I walked in. The service was fantastic and Dr. Shea was patience with me answering every question I had and asking several questions of her own. She made sure I walked out understanding everything including the strategy for our go forward efforts! Thank you all for a wonderful experience today and I look forward to getting my life back on track and with you all helping me get there! I enjoyed meeting Dr. Shea because I felt like someone understood finally why I was feeling the way that I did. And I appreciate her one step at a time approach of "let's get this piece working, then we focus on the next." The only think that I didn't like was I felt like her PA was trying to push a weight loss program that wasn't focused for my specific needs vs letting me meet with the nutritionist and working on a plan (which was what I was told initially I could do).
only have been once
I don’t know Dr. Shea; but Dr. Lakhian in this office is wonderful & caring!
I always find the office staff warm, and welcoming. The wait times are usually reasonable, and I feel like I am listened to during appointments.
I transferred to this site because it was a closer drive for me than Dallas. Once I was called back I rock omen of the patient rooms, I waited over an hour before anyone came in and let me know the doctor was behind schedule. She came once 20 minutes after that. I specifically asked for a certain test to be run with blood work and when results came back, the office let me know they forgot to run that test. Highly disappointed.
Dr Shea and her staff are number 1. They are courteous and caring. Love them all.
Dr. Lokhian is greatness. She's figured out how to treat my diabetes and get me back in check. She's very thorough in looking beyond just the condition but makes an effort to look for any signs of other issues that diabetes causes.
Dr. Shea is professional and I would highly recommend her to family and friends. Both Nursing staff and Dr Shea have a great "bed-side manner". (the best!)
Dr. Shea is extremely detail oriented and provides the best quality care.
Both of my daughters are patients of Dr. Shea’s. My oldest started seeing her for thyroid issues in 2nd grade. My youngest has been T1D for 3 years. Her care, competency, concern, and availability have been fabulous. I would definitely would (and have) recommended her. There have been times when I have had to wait but when my turn came she spent however much time we needed to take care of our concerns.
Dr Shea listens & explains options completely!
Dr. Shea always took the time to listen and validate our concerns. She wasn’t quick to medicate, but really took the time to understand our individual case.
Dr. Shea is very thorough, listens to any concerns that we may have. Very friendly!
My daughter was anemic, and Dr. Shea didn't even bother to mention it, or treat it. Instead, she treated her with growth hormone injections. The worst experience ever.
Dr. Shea is genuine and caring and willing to take the time to really understand her patients and how best to help them.
Excellent care and service at every visit
Endocrine Associates of Dallas is an excellent place. Dr Heidi Shea is extremely knowledgable and answers any and all questions I have concerning my health. Sarah is extremely professional and very down to earth. She is very easy to talk to and genuinely cares. And Val is wonderful ! She makes you feel so comfortable and at ease. I love the team and I am so happy I am in the care of such an amazing staff!
I just wish the secretary's in the front and back were a little more personable.
Great Dr and spends so much time explaining things to us all. Thank you Dr. Shea!
Excellent office Staff!!! Dr. Shea is amazing!!
Dr. Shea, is an excellant doctor that has helped me with my health and well being. I highly recommend her to all
Excellent, caring doctor
Dr. Shea helped me after other Drs. failed to properly diagnose and treat me, for years. Her office runs on time, and she and her staff spend quality time with you. They are thorough in their diagnosis process and treatment. On top of their professionalism, Dr. Shea and her staff are personable, friendly, and welcoming. I highly recommend Dr. Shea!
She is very patient friendly and through.
Excellent service and excellent doctors the front young lady is very rude and un caring to patients
Dr. Shea is caring and thorough.
She and her staff are very responsive and listen to my concerns or questions
Dr Shea is thorough, professional and kind. The other PA’s and nurses in her office are great as well.
I always feel that my husband receives wonderful attention and care at the center. Doctor Lachein is his regular doctor. But, I would not hesitate to recommend your office to people who are looing for good care.
Dr. Shea is an excellent physician. She has the medical knowledge to support her excellent critical thinking. Along with that her empathy, compassion and honesty puts her a step ahead of 99% of the physician's I have encountered.
Dr Shea is the best doctor I’ve ever worked with.
Smart, pleasant doctor with good support staff

First of all, I love Dr. Shea. She and her assistant both have fabulous bedside manner. They were able to answer questions and were open and warm. Even though the office was full of older patients, they both worked with my daughter as well as any pediatric docs we have seen. However, that is where the warmth ends. Getting into the office is like a fortress. All phone systems are automated. You cannot contact a live soul. Check-in is cold and we always have a wait. It feels like a machine in the office. It is large and full of rooms. Booking with the doctor is near impossible, so you are seen by an assistant. I showed up to review test results from procedures we had done in the hospital. The results had not been sent over, and no staff, including the assistant that was to see us, had reviewed our file to be prepared for our visit. I feel they are big and corporate and unaccessible. Our pediatrician said she had heard similar reports of the office. It's too bad! Dr. Shea was amazing, however I am paying for a service, and I will be moving elsewhere. My husband and I found Dr. Shea to be annoyed in answering questions about our 4 year old's thyroid condition! Neither of us were familiar with the condition. Instead of educating us, she became curt and rude, asking my husband, "Do you have any questions, or do you let your wife do all the talking?" Ugh. Aside from "people skills", the office lacked a child-friendly feeling - I later discovered most patients are adults. Additionally, my daughter's blood draw was a disheartening fiasco.
I had a very specific need and had no options but to go Dr. Shea. The staff is incompetent, virtually never follow through, blame patients when they are at fault (in writing) etc. The waits are always very long, even with a first appointment in the morning. The PAs are hit or miss. Some were very good, but they don't stick around. Others are seriously lacking social skills and follow through. Some nurses were good, some weren't. An example of the latter is one who left the blood she drew sitting on the table. Not surprisingly, it was invalid for testing and she had to call me back for another draw. Dr Shea is the WORST doctor I have ever met. Rude, arrogant, condescending. I cannot wait till I no longer need her service. If you have a choice, go to another doctor's office. Everyone there was absolutely great! I had to take a blood test, and the staff who did it were real good at it. I really recommend Mrs. Shea!

My son was referred to Dr. Shea by his primary care physician due to lab work indicating hypothyroid levels. I was told by the office staff we could not make an apt until Dr. Shea reviewed his lab and decided if he required an apt. A month went by and I never received a call from them so I called and I was told that YES Dr. Shea would like to see him to discuss his lab work. The earliest they could get him in was 4 wks. On the day of his apt we waited 1 hr in the waiting room and then waited
This has been one of the best, if not the best, endocinology office that I've been too. Wait times are not too long and the staff is very quick to respond to my messages.
I cant really comment on dr shea, since we never actually see her. We only end up seeing her staff. The staff is nice though. My wife also goes there, and she also never sees the actual doctor. Thats just how it works at this practice.
I recommend her all the time to friends.
Dr. Shea seemed knowleadable in her field of expertise. However, her bedside manner was so unpleasant that I would never recommend her to pediatric patients. My 8yr old daughter saw her three times. She never once addressed Maddie directly. She ignored her, even when she became scared and started to cry. She also neglected to mention an FDA investigation into the drug therapy that she recommended. When my husband and I attempted to ask questions, she was dismissive an condescending.
No complaints. Dr Shea takes her time with you and covers your situation in detail.
Dr. Shea and her staff are great - a friend told me about Dr. Shea and I have to say that I am very happy with all that I have done with her office - they keep in touch through email and their portal.. If you are in need of a Endocrinologist Dr. she is the one. They have an office in Dallas and Plano. Diana
We are pleased with the results we have gotten with Dr. Shea. Dr. Shea was able to get our son on the growth hormone treatment that he needs. In addition, when we see her we always get our questions answered. However, I have cautioned others that the response time from the office with communication is frustrating. The portal has made this somewhat better, but I still struggle to get responses or to receive information that is pertinent.
She is the very best. Highly recommend her!
I highly recommend Dr. Shea. I see her for nodules on my thyroid and my son sees her for hypothyroidism. We are both very pleased with our care. Dr. Shea takes time to listen and is clear in her explanations. I'm able to ask all of my questions. My son has special needs and she is wonderful with him. She is a very caring doctor.
Dr. Shea has always been my endocrinologist! She is amazing and treats everyone in my family. She always takes the time to discuss everything in detail with you and truly cares about my well being. I trust Dr. Shea 100% with my care and would recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Shea is always helpful and completely on top of all of our concerns. We feel thoroughly taken care of by her and her staff. We have never experienced even a moment of discomfort with her and her protocols for managing my son's growth. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Shea is excellent in her diagnosis, service and care. But the nurse staff that support her do not follow up well and do not respond on time with lab results.
Really great service except when dealing with prescriptions. I've had to make multiple calls a couple months in a row to get my prescription filled because the office staff sends it to the wrong pharmacy, or doesn't get the dosage or quantity the same as we discussed. It took me a week to get my prescription refilled once. Other than that, great service.

Horrible experience. Condescending, arrogant and extremely late to appointments. My son was almost killed during his endocrine testing at Plano Presbyterian and Dr. Shea could have cared less. She went on vacation the next day and never heard from her since. Not only that, good luck getting medical records to transfer records to a new dr. They don't call back. Horrible experience. WOW how disappointing - Dr Shea came highly recommended by my Urologist for my son who I would like be evaluated by the doctor. After 8 phone calls and being on hold for as much as 32 minutes to simply talk to office staff, I finally got through on attempt number nine (9) nine days later. Only to find out that they will not make any appointments without a doctor referral (my doctor didn't count, not sure why). I am willing to pay cash but money is not the reason, its simply policy to turn away business without a doctors note, I suppose. Not a single good experience to be had with this practice and I never even talked to the doctor! If I could leave fewer than on star, I would! The state of modern medicine I suppose. How sad especially since I was so excited to talk Heidi as I respect my Urologist so much and trust his opinion.
