If I could give rating NEGATIVE I would. Let me share my experience. Keep in mind I am also a healthcare professional and am quite familiar with usual insurance requirements. My dad is a Medicaid patient, he hurt his back so his PCP referred him to this doctor. This was couple months ago. I called his office they said they take my dad's insurance and I scheduled his appointment. Now at the appt he took an X-ray, referred him for physical therapy, and wrote a prescription that CLEARLY said "lower back brace for pain" NO OTHER SPECIFIC INFORMATION! I took that prescription to Binson's Home and Healthcare Center on Autoclub drive in Dearborn. They filled the prescription with the brace they had in stock. Now when they were dispensing I was very clear with them that what will be his copay? and did it go through insurance? and their response was we HAD TO pick up the brace first, SIGN the papers! and ONLY THEN they can bill for it and determine the copay.... I was quite confused! We had a discussion for a long while as I kept asking WHAT IF it does not go through insurance and you are giving the brace to us now so what happens then? Now at this point the person dispensing the brace said bring it back then! So we take the brace and go about our way. TWO MONTHS later I get a letter in the mail from Binsons that they are unable to complete the billing for the brace because Dr. Hammoud has not responded to them. They needed Dr. Hammoud to sign an authorization form with the specific brace they dispensed. So instead they sent the form and that letter at my house. I took that form MYSELF to Dr. Hammoud's office. I thought ok it should be an easy visit he just has to sign and I will drop it off at Binsons. When I went to the office, Dr. Hammoud REFUSED to sign! When I asked why and this is literally his exact words out of his mouth "I do not like to deal with Medicaid and their issues." EXCUSE ME? I was furious! HOW CAN A DOCTOR WRITE A PRESCRIPTION BUT THEN REFUSE TO HELP THE PATIENT WITH THE INSURANCE PAPERWORK? We did not even request the brace! HE WROTE FOR IT! After I asked why he goes "this brace could cost $1200 and I will not approve something like that, I wanted them to dispense a "simple" brace" So I was like did you specify a specific kind and they dispensed it wrong? Then I asked that can someone from your office call Binson's can clarify because I am not understanding what is happening here. If the brace is wrong than tell them which one and I can go back to them. His office staff then said no they will not call and that I had to deal with them IT IS MY PROBLEM! I was so over it! so I go to Binson's and explained all this and they said first of all the CASH price of the brace is $122 not $1200! so I am not sure where Dr. Hammoud got his information from. Second of all, they DID dispense the most common and correct brace! Not to mention also one of the cheaper one! So at this point I asked Binson's staff if they could call Dr. Hammoud and explain this and sort it out! and their response was "no, why should we call? If he refuses than THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE." At this point I wasn't even upset about having to pay, I was just completely stunned at the way they treat PATIENTS! And I am someone who is in this field who has knowledge to understand the process. I couldn't believe my ears! Oh and the same person who told me I could bring it back, COMPLETELY DENIED that she ever said that. Instead she showed me the paper they FORCED us to sign at the time of dispensing and said its signed for so they cannot take it back. I called Binson's billing dept and handling from that end. I also plan on calling Medicaid to complain about this doctor, but is there any other action I can take? What he made me and my dad go through is wrong. He wrote a script! He should not be allowed to throw papers at patients face and say "I do not like to deal with MEDICAID." Also, in future if you need orthopedic doctor do research, avoid these shady doctors with private clinic, and DEFINITELY AVOID him If I could give rating NEGATIVE I would. Let me share my experience. I really hate leaving 1 stars but when I went to see him for a follow up he didnt even read my chart before coming into the room. He didn't listem to anything my other doctor was telling me. He told me he was going to send me for physical therapy when I had just ended a round of physical therapy he ordered. Meaning he didnt read the notes my physical therapist sent over. Rushed over might I add. I would not recommend him to anyone. Find another doctor.
