Everything with this doctor and staff was 5 star. Right up to the point he stopped taking Medicare and never offered another surgeon to care for me. I can see not taking any new Medicare patients, but after 5 years, and an important surgery on back he just cuts me loose. Not fair

I had an operation by Dr. Kim last week because I had herniated disks in my neck pressing on my spinal cord. This created pain and parethesias in my arm and foot. My procedure was an "Anterior Cervical Corpectomy and Fusion." Things could not have gone better.  Dr. Kim’s quiet confidence made the whole surgical process much less foreboding.  I knew his technical skills were unsurpassed by reputation but I’ve now directly experienced his virtuosity in the form of symptomatic relief with minimal post-op pain. And even better is the fantastic hospital where he works, where staff were uniform;y friendly, supportive, and empathic. I had suffered with back pain for several years, not able to walk more than a half city block without wanting to cry. I had a 7 level spine fusion with Dr. Kim in June of 2018. I was referred to Dr. Kim by my neurologist for surgical treatment of significant, acute onset neuropathy in my lower legs due to Cervical Spondylitic Myelopathy. Simply put, my ability to walk normally had disappeared in a matter of a few weeks. My neurologist made clear to me that there were no treatment options other than surgery. Dr. Kim reviewed my case, explained the underlying condition, explained the corrective procedure involved and discussed the potential risks and benefits. After Dr. Kim answered my many questions about the proposed Cervical Laminoplasty C3-7 surgery, we agreed to move forward and it was performed 2 weeks later. The full recovery from the surgery took about 10 weeks and was very uncomfortable for the first 10 days, but the results are outstanding. My legs have returned to their normal function of 6 months before this issue arose and I am back to full activity. Certainly no one wants to need or have complex cervical spine surgery, but if your neurologist refers you for such a procedure, Dr. Kim is a genius and I highly recommend him and his surgical team. Worst dr ever. Destroyed my brothers back. Did so much harm to his spine and the second opinion dr is surprised that he wasn’t paralyzed. This dr is not to be trusted. Surgery took longer than expected and did more harm than good. Do not trust this dr. He doesn’t return phone calls or emails. Because of the disaster of this surgery, my brother can’t have anymore. A dreadful experience. Dr. Kim performed Cervical Spine surgery on me. Despite my ten-pound loss of weight, exhaustion, and a grotesque abscess growing on the incision, Dr. Kim refused to acknowledge that I might actually have an infection. When he finally did a second surgery, a deep infection was found. I was hospitalized for 7 days, sent home with a PICC line, and treated with antibiotics for almost a year. Dr. Kim changed my life. Period. If you need spine surgery this is the guy. If you're looking for someone to hold your hand and tell you everything is going to be ok, you might need to look elsewhere. Staff knows what they're doing and are efficient. HSS did a fantastic job as well. GREAT experience at HSS and with Dr. Kim.

It’s been one year since Dr. Kim performed spine surgery on my son. His case was quite complex and required a surgeon who preforms this type of operation frequently. I will always be grateful for the transformative surgery Dr. Kim completed on my son. Since surgery, my son (7) has only gotten better (no complications post op) and lives a normally functioning life thanks to Dr.Kim. My experience with Dr. Kim was the worst I have had with any doctor ever! I had extensive back surgery about 5 months ago. About two months ago, I either hurt my back or the operation was not done right. I have been trying to contact Dr. Kim without success. I was told by his staff member, after I sent a CD and report of my lumber spine, that he "would call or email" me. It never happened, even through I have been in extreme pain and called often. I feel that Dr. Kim and his staff are uncaring, unprofessional and, as you see, unresponsive. I urge you to seriously consider this post before you to commit to work with Dr. Kim and his staff. Could not ask for a better surgeon. He’s a miracle worker!

For several years I suffered with Spinal Stenosis, causing difficulty walking and numbness in both legs. As a person who loves to walk I was depressed not being able to walk each day. Dr. Kim performed a Laminectomy, after the surgery I was back to my walking and I feel like a new person, 3 weeks after the procedure. Simply the best surgeon. Dr. Kim saved my dad’s life. My dad had cervical stenosis with myelopathy which deteriorated his mobility to such extremes that he was paralyzed. Within 4 weeks after a very complex surgery my dad is able to walk now. Dr. Kim’s extensive experience of complex spine surgeries made this possible. What a Miracle! Simply the best surgeon.
