Dr. Guy Winzenried

Met him as an inpatient 4 years ago at NCH when I was having a bad bout of chronic , gall bladder induced, pancreatitis. Wonderful caring doctor. Have followed up with him yearly since that time. Office staff is very pleasant and capable and the wait time is almost non-existent!!

So happy with SD. Wiezenreid. He is a straight shooter with excellent communication skills and medical skills. Highly recommend- went to him for consult and endoscopy.

He seems to be a nice Doctor when you meet him, but once he performs the colonoscopy, he is done with you. He doesn't see you after the procedure just a nurse hands you a pamphlet at the end. No follow up and no return calls.

It is very difficult to make an appointment with this doctor. When you call the appointment line, it is prompted for you to leave a message for his staff to return the call. After trying 3 times, I never did receive a call back. When I finally got the appointment date, my dad had a stroke and passed away on the same day which I couldn't make it. I called 5 hours prior to my appointment time to inform the staff and had proof that my dad expired that morning, and she rescheduled me for another date . A week later, I receive a call from one of the nurse of his office stating the doctor can no longer sees me because he is minimizing his patients load and because I cancelled the appointment on the day of my dad's passing. I am a unit manager in a local long term facility, Doctor Winzenried has gone above and beyond for a resident of mine under his care...I'm so impressed with his compassion, prompt response and dedication.

At the advice of an Ohio upper GI doctor who performed an endoscopy which showed some problems, I was to see a specialist in Naples. I went to Winzenreid who reviewed the Ohio doctors report and he hit the ceiling saying there were no specifics on my dysphasia and he would do a stent or other means to treat my shrinking esophagus. He ordered a barium swallow which I went to. From there, he did not call to review the results, nor did his nurse. Then he sent me a letter, no letterhead, telling me he woiuld no longer treat me because of lack of cooperation in medical treatment and non-compliance with treatment recommendations! He never offered any treatment recommendations, didn't review the barium swallow, did not return my phone calls. He is nothing but a lier a doctor who doesn't know how to treat my condition. The letter said that a form to release my medical records was enclosed...there was no enclosure. He is most uncaring and lying dr. who shouldn't be allowed to practice medicine.

Horrible - too much to write about! All I know is he ruined my son’s health! Dr. Winzenried and his nurse Lori are amazing. I’ve been going to him since I’ve started dental school 4 years ago and he has taken of me since. Simply a genuine guy that cares for his patients and knows what’s best for the circumstances you go though. He has been the best GI doc that I’ve seen. So happy I was referred to him years ago! One of the kindest and most attentive professionals I have met. Gives you time to ask questions and understand the answers.

I have PBC, a somewhat rare liver disease, along with a couple of other gastrointestinal issues. Since I began seeing Dr. Winzenried several years ago I have placed complete confidence in him to monitor the PBC and treat other issues. He has earned my respect for his knowledge of my disease and my care in general. I like him personally and find his staff to be top notch. My highest compliment would be that he and his staff seem to care about their patients' health in the gastro field.

Sadly, this was a very bad experience. A rude and inconsiderate staff decide I was the problem. So, the doctor wanted an explanation for my behavior. Rather than help him with his customer service/patient relations problems, I thanked him for his time and departed. In today's age of insurance issues, you'd think physicians would realize that they should be working to get and keep new patients rather than drive them away. The entire experience was unprofessional. I would never recommend this medical practice to anyone. Sadly, this was a very bad experience. A rude and inconsiderate staff decide I was the problem. Amazingly positive experience. I put total trust in Dr. Winzenried's care. He is a straight forward honest communicator which I respect and appreciate. I am grateful to be under his care.
