Gregory George Machiko

He's a little quirky in the way he talks to you but he is a respectful and kind man. Understanding of your preferences, won't force you to do a procedure or test you don't want to (or can't afford). Great guy. His nurses and front desk attendants were also lovely.

I had to go to the emergency room at Canonsburg Hosp in January 2022 with a GI bleed and had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done by Dr. Machiko. Unfortunately, his is the only practice which goes to Canonsburg Hosp. He was arrogant, refused to answer my questions before the procedures and I never saw him afterwards. The nurse in the recovery room had to deliver the findings to me. Prior to the procedures, I was asked to give my husband’s cell phone number and was told that Dr. Machiko would definitely call my husband after the procedures to notify him of the findings, and he never got a phone call. I am following up with a wonderful gastroenterologist named Dr. Jenny Totten at Southwest Gastroenterology Associates. I am not a person who normally posts reviews, good or bad, but I just had to add my opinion to these other bad reviews. For the person who gave him five stars, I am guessing either he caught Dr. Machiko on a good day or is a friend/family member. I honestly don't know what all these bad reviews are about; other then these are trolls, hiding behind some nonsensical nicks. Perhaps, his envious competitors? There are just a few; it is too bad the satisfied patients do not care to provide positive reviews. I have had wonderful experiences w/ Dr. Machiko over the course of the last 2 years of my treatment: he is caring, responsive, well-spoken, and pro-active. His McMurray staff has been also wonderful. Never go to this doctor he missed diagnosed me several times and has ABSOLUTELY no compassion for his patients whatsoever, in fact at my upper endoscopy I was told after in recovery “he was too busy to come talk with me to tell me results” and the nurse did for him. Any time I’ve gotten any testing done I’ve had to call numerous times before getting a call back with results. And if you think he is Uncompassionate and rude you should meet his nurse she is a real gem to say the least!! Trust me stay FAR FAR away from this doctor you will be glad. After a now month of wasted time I finally have a new doctor who is much more caring and knowledgeable If you want a doctor who is rude and will judge you from the very first meeting then be my guest and he will be the perfect doctor for you! Dr. Machiko performed an emergency endo for me but he seemed agitated to be there, like somehow treating a patient was an inconvenience for him. Then, I had the displeasure of speaking with someone from the office, because I was having trouble getting a prescription refilled, that he wrote for me. The office personnel basically told me it wasn't their problem and that I would have to see my regular doctor to have the prescription re-written. I called Dr M. in distress during the week via his answering service. When Dr. M. announced that he was on the phone, "Dr. Machiko!" I said, "Good evening doctor, how are you?" He responded with, "I'm busy, what do you want?" After seeing and trusting him for going on twenty-five (25) years, I held in what I wanted to say in response as I KNOW THIS MAN AND HIS WAY. I contained myself and told him what was up and was abruptly told that, "We're NOT doing any elective scopes!" I told him the CT SCAN shows that I have an impaction and "I KNOW THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!" His response was, "Call my office in three (3) days! To that I say, "WOW man? You're a pompous a** and you've seen my a** for the last time!" Who in God's name needs a doctor like that? If you hate your job THAT much, change your career already.

Please, save yourself the trouble and don't see Dr. Machiko. He was very nice in the office; after moving back to the area I thought he would be a good doctor to establish care with. However, after my procedure, became very dismissive and condescending. He does not speak to patients after procedures; he would only speak to my parents, who drove me. Most importantly, he refused to discuss my diagnoses of UC and IBS, outright telling me not to come back to the office and refusing to refill my prescriptions despite diagnoses. I would give him negative starts, but that's not an option. Rude, arrogant, and uncaring. After going to an educated, caring Gastro doctor, I believe his demeanor is due to his lack of knowledge. Can't answer a question if you don't know the answer.

The rudest man I have ever come in contact with let alone a doctor. Lacks professionalism. Talks down to patients. Insults patients just for asking more about a medical conditions. See the patient about 1 month after test and tells the patient the complete opposite of what he told their family member the day of the test. Complains that the hospital gets all the money from the insurance and tells the patient of right your are insurance dependent.

Dr Machiko has a very low tolerance for questions about the health issues, procedures or care that you see him for. There is a condescending aspect to his manner that is uncomfortable. And after you go through that, you realize that he is unreliable too. I prefer not to write details, but trust me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR.

EVERYONE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR AND STAFF. I liked Dr Machiko from the first visit-a bit abrupt, but so competent. After my Endoscopy at the hospital, my husband was led to a room with a desk & 3 chairs. But, Dr didn't sit, he poked his head in, told him two sentences about my prognosis and said the nurses could answer the rest. I could have still liked Dr M, until I called his office today. His nurse was BEYOND UNPROFFESSIONAL- a nightmare. It's ok if your doc is busy, it means he's good. But if staff is bad, no communication- not good.

This practice does not care! I had an endoscopy performed by Dr. Machiko on 7/13 and was advised to schedule a follow-up one in two months. I have called the office repeatedly to get an appointment. Dr. Machiko has always been straight forward with providing diagnosis and doesn't beat around the bush. Which is a valued quality.
