Gregory S. Gelburd

About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with a disease called Familial Mediterranean Fever. I had multiple symptoms and a lifelong history of symptoms associated with the disease. After diagnosis I immediately started treatment and have seen some very positive improvement. Where does Dr. Gelburd factor into this? He was my primary care doctor for several years during my journey of seeking a diagnosis. He was NOT the doctor who discovered the diagnosis but I realize now that if I hadn’t left the practice that my diagnosis probably wouldn’t have been made which would have resulted into my progressing into kidney failure at a young age. Dr. Gelburd initially took an eager interest in my case which was exciting because it’s easy to be brushed off by doctors. He seemed very kind and understanding about the struggles I had.. at first. He sent me to some specialists and we made a few small discoveries but nothing major. During this time I started getting debilitating migraines and severe digestive symptoms and ended up in the hospital a lot. Dr. Gelburd became seemingly worried about these symptoms and gave me his personal number to tell him about any attacks I was having. At first I would message him and he would respond by ordering tests. Let me be very clear, I did not abuse this method of communication, I very rarely messaged him. However, one time I told him about a flair up that I had and he became very harsh with me saying that he only gave me his personal number to tell him about times when I was so bad I had to be in the hospital. Which was never said, he told me to let him know if any new symptoms right away incase there was something he was missing and I did just what he asked me to do. It made no sense to me at all, like I said,I hadn’t abused the power and did nothing to deserve that kind of lash back. I personally believe he realized he couldn’t figure out what I had and was done trying. So why write a review years later? I have been reflecting on the journey I took to get to where I am. I’m very happy with the progress I have made. I have 3 daughters who need me and realized that if I had stayed with Dr. Gelburd I would not have made this progress and would probably still be getting bogus treatments, suffering with severe symptoms, and being needlessly reprimanded by him. He was very disorganized and forgot things a lot it. There were several times my insurance denied payment to his office because of the way he had papers submitted. It was a mess but I put up with it thinking I had found a doctor willing to help. It was a regrettable decision choosing him as a doctor. I would not recommend him to anyone. One of the best most competent sincere docs around.He is excellent and his entire staff including front office and nursing are great. He is responsible for saving lives and improving my health.

Greg Gelburd is an excellent family physician. He has been my doctor for over 20 years. Like many DO's, he'll prefer an herbal treatment if he has one, but won't hesitate to write formal prescriptions when they're needed. I have found him unfailingly kind and attentive. Contra another reviewer's experience, I've never felt any discomfort with his Christianity, although I am myself a strict atheist.

I'm so glad to have found someone who has a holistic background and looks at the whole person, rather than reaching for the prescription pad for any ailment.
