I wish I could give zero stars. It is impossible to get in touch with his staff for follow up on test results and appointments or diagnosis. The incompetent staff never EVER EVER call you back as promised and you CANNOT get through EVER. This has been going on for months - and I have never experienced a worse office than this one. I never leave negative reviews for anything but I’m hoping my feedback will save someone else from experiencing what I did at this appointment. Dr Chiancone has the worst bed side manned of any doctor I have ever been to. This was my first (and last) appointment to see him for severe ear pain in my ears. I expected him to walk in and at the very minimum greet me with a hello. No!!! He walked in and the first thing he said was “what’s wrong with you?” It wasn’t even what he said but how it was said. There was zero compassion and the tone was awful. He looked in my ears, did a few test with some tools he had there and asked what sounds I could hear? I guess I wasn’t giving the correct answers because everything I said he would reply with “that doesn’t make any sense” in an extremely sarcastic manner and tell me to try again. I wasn’t sure if I should say something different or what he wanted me to say. It was an uncomfortable appointment that ended with him telling me there was nothing wrong with my ears and I should get a hearing test done. “If they said my hearing test was fine don’t worry about coming back to him”. Well, that’s all fine but my ears have had severe pain for 7 plus months and he resolved nothing except being extremely rude and more or less telling me I don’t really need to come back, not that I would anyway. This doctor is AWFUL, has no bedside manner and genuinely seems to hate his job or maybe he just hates people. I’m really not sure but it was so bad of an experience that I had to share it. If you can go to an alternate ENT, I would certainly do so. Dr. Chiancone is absolutely a quack! I went in because I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, inner and outer ear infection that was not getting any better with antibiotics. My pain was out of control and could not barley speak due to the pain. This doctor came in and spent maybe 7 minutes tops. I work in the medical field and was taken back by the rude behavior, interruption when I was trying to explain the symptoms and pain I was experiencing for a week 1/2. I also tried explaining that I had hearing loss that started 3 days prior to seeing him. He left me with no answers and left me in tears.

This morning I had to go to the hospital for esophagoscopy under sedation. All went well and the Doctors surgical crew was friendly and professional. As a Retired USAF Msgt. I was very receptive to straightforward approach of Dr. Chiancone. He diagnosed the problem and now we have a game plan. Thank you Doctor.

The Doctor and his scheduling assistant is very incompetent and unprofessional. I saw this Dr. in September and he told me his scheduling person would call me . She took a month to call then I asked her for an appt. in Dec since I’d be off for 6 days. She said let me check the Dr. schedule and call me back . Well she never did and I called her Back got the appt. for when I’m off . Dr calls me day of to cx saying I never came back for follow up since Sept? I scheduled a post op at the hospital .

Compassion for a patient is absent when the insurance paperwork isn't right. 4 days prior to surgery I was told it was mandatory to see the doctor before a surgery. His staff at me sitting for 2 and a half hours while they sorted out a referral from my primary care physician. Instead of just seeing me I sat till the financial portion was sorted out. The nurse tells me all I was gonna get done was they were going to take my vitals and he would give me a visual. She said he could do it the morning of the surgery which means he was only trying to line his pockets for a few extra dollars. After telling me she would see what time the surgery was because they were moving times around and that it would take a quick sec, 15 minutes later I wrote a note telling them to cancel the surgery and that I would find something else. It was very unprofessional and all it showed me was Dr Chiancone don't care about his patients if he isn't being compensated. I will rather wait a few more months if I have to in order to find another doctor to perform this surgery rather than to patronize a doctor who allows his patients to be treated in such a dismissive manner. I was very disappointed by Dr. Chiancone, both times that I saw him. The first time he ignored one of the health issues I was there for, saying that he wouldn’t address it until after the first issue was addressed. Meaning, I would need to come back for another appointment - more money for him. When I asked him the medical reason why both couldn’t be addressed, he didn’t have one and reluctantly agreed to talk about both issues in the one appointment. Second visit, he had not done any of the research and reading about my case that he promised. In fact, he acted surprised when I told him about the condition. As if we had never discussed it before! Sooo....if we couldn’t discuss that, then why was I there? There wasn’t another purpose for the visit. Finally, I needed surgery and I saw online that he was affiliated with a hospital in DC, where I’d recently moved. I asked about scheduling the surgery for there and he straight up barked at me like I was his child! I was shocked that he would take that tone with a patient. In addition to the tone, the substance of his answer also bothered me. He said he wasn’t doing the surgery anywhere but Hospital X (Hospital X is an hour’s drive from my house, AND it also has horrible reviews about important things like cleanliness, sanitationand sterilizing instruments!) He continued on to say that if I didn’t want to go to Hospital X, I could just find a new doctor. I honestly clutched my pearls, y’all. I have never! I smiled at him because why argue and he started grumbling that this was why he was leaving America because these damn people...(I couldn’t hear the rest, he kind of faded out). So, he might win some but Giancarlo Chiancone has just lost one. I will *never* return to see this churlish, forgetful, promise breaking, money grabbing, rude doctor, so help me God! I'd love to leave a review about the actual Dr. himself, but since they cant fit patients into their busy schedules in a reasonable amount of time, this review is based on them scheduling my daughter 3 weeks out, then calling her 2 days before her appointment and stating they couldn't get her in for another 3 weeks. She is experiencing hearing loss, and there is no sense of urgency. Will find another dr.

Went to see Dr. Chiancone for a follow up from ER for a Ruptured Ear Drum and I was so impressed with the excellent service that I received from him. The staff was very friendly and efficient.
