I've been going to Dr. Gugggino since I've been a little kid. He's patient, kind, and one of the best there is, so much so that I fly down from NY to see him. If you have the chance, go!

Dislike the doctor himself. My daughter visited him when she was (2) due to myopia. He stated she doesn’t need glasses nor does she have it. Love this Doctor! He makes everything easy for us to understand. He is great with kids and very kind! We have been seeing him for over 2 years and finally had surgery done for my 5 year old. I cannot express how grateful I am for Dr. Guggino, Yesenia Perez, and the entire staff at Florida Eye. I am an adult who developed double vision and had been struggling with it for about 5 years. I went to multiple optometrists and even ophthalmologists who essentially shrugged their shoulders and sent me on my way. Even from the first call I was met with kindness and compassion. I had called a different office before and was met with a scoff and nasty comment when I was concerned about the price because I did not have insurance at the time. When I moved down my call list to Florida Eye, they worked with me to figure out the best game plan and even recommended insurance options to look into. When it was finally time for my appointment the front desk answered all my questions. The nurse I spoke to before Dr. Guggino came in could tell I was a bit distressed and assured me I had come to the right place for care. Dr. Guggino came in and immediately made me feel at ease. He was the first doctor I had spoken to about my double vision that had even asked about blood work and was shocked when I told him no one had ordered blood work previously. He told me I was a good candidate for strabismus surgery and ordered an MRI and blood work to rule out any underlying causes for the muscle weakening in my eye. Yesenia, the surgery coordinator, checked in with me regularly regarding my results. Dr. Guggino called me himself to let me know a test came back abnormal and recommended I see a neurologist before the surgery date. When I had a hard time finding an appointment on "short notice" (1 month) Yesenia and Dr. Guggino actively tried to help me find an appointment. When I booked one later than the surgery date, Yesenia called the office herself to ask if I could be moved up. I eventually found an appointment earlier than the surgery date and was cleared, and Yesenia kept in regular contact with me regarding the results. I had the surgery done at St. Joseph's hospital and every single person I talked to during my pre-op appointment and the day of surgery was above and beyond kind. The surgery went smoothly and for the first time in a long time I can drive without prism glasses. I don't see double and I don't have to be self conscious about my eye wandering when I'm tired. I could not have asked for better care and even though it took a long time, I'm glad I ended up in the care of Dr. Guggino and his staff. I have had more negative experiences in the medical world than positive, which is why I'm so grateful for how thorough and involved everyone was. Was so happy to find Dr. Guggino's office. My son was at the ER last night due to excruciating pain in his right eye. The ER found something in his eye that they could not get out that was causing the pain. They had him go home and told him to see a specialist in the morning. I looked online and saw Dr Guggino was still practicing in South Tampa. He is the only eye doctor that my sister and I saw when we were young. I called and they were able to get my son in the same day. Everybody was very nice. They took him right back. Dr Guggino came in and examined him almost immediately after we got there. He noticed how much pain my son was in and made sure to put some medication in his eye to numb him to help with the pain. He was able to see what the problem was. Sent him home on medication and pain relief. Exceptional service from an exceptional doctor and staff. Thank you Dr. Guggino.. Was so happy to find Dr. Guggino's office. My grandson, who is not even a year and a half, had a pink/red color in both of his eyes. We took him to his primary 3 times for this issue, in 2 weeks. His eyes got so bad that they looked like they were bleeding. That’s when my daughter took him to the ER. After 3 different ER doctors looked at him, including a Pediatric doctor, none of them could determine the issue. So the next day, we called Florida Eye Specialist, and thankfully they had a cancellation that same day. Dr. Guggino saw my grandson and within seconds determined what was going on. My grandson had pink eye on both eyes. I’m still scratching my head, wondering how so many doctors were unable to diagnose this issue. However, Dr. Guggino prescribed him with eye drops, and in less than 12 hours we noticed a HUGE difference in the color of his eyes. It went from a bloody red color to a very very light pink! They cleared up completely within 3 days! He even asked that we call him and let him know how our grandson was doing, which we did. This man is our hero! Our grandson could have been blinded, and after a total of 5 doctors, he did what none of them could do. Our grandson is back to his happy, go lucky self again, and we are forever indebted to Dr. Guggino. He will now be our go to eye specialist. If they hadn’t had an opening that day, I don’t know what we would have done, or what the condition of my grandson would be like today. And I’m so thankful I don’t even have to worry about that. My daughter has been wearing prescription glasses since 2017 and after his examination, he says that she doesn't need glasses. That she has anxiety, that's why she can't see. I am getting a proper second opinion. If I could give a zero I would.

My Daughter who’s only 10 got really angry because the doctor said she was lying. She still sees blurred out of her left eye when she covers her right eye to read. If I could give a - 100 to this place I would. The rude lady that works reception kept giving me the run-around. First the prescription had to be faxed before making an appointment. I faxed it 3X. Then she sayd I had to register online. I did. She told me she couldn't find me in her system and asked me 3 questions. Within 1 minute that was done. (SO WHY HAVE ME REGISTER?). Once that was done she said she only had appointments for Mon and Tues. I said really? In shock as all my work pto was taken on those days. Her response was " Yes! realllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???? ugh " mocking me. She stated the doctor only came in on those days. I disconnected, contacted another eye professional, and took my business elsewhere. I've worked with customers and patients for manyyy manyyy years. I would NEVER treat any of them that way. Nice office!

Dr Toni Licata is PHENOMENAL. She's bright , funny , extremely knowledgeable, uses the most updated state of the art equipment for eye exams. If I could rate her a PLUS + 1000 I wouldn't hesitate. Thank you so much for caring about me and my vision.

Terrible. Terrible office personel .. just TERRIBLE.

Horrible experience! Stay away from this office! All they want is your money! No one really knows what is going on and billing is untrustworthy. Stay away! Find an office that really cares.

My son has been visiting this office for almost a year and a half and I am not pleased. The office staff never faxes prescriptions/records, etc without multiple phone call requests and reminders. The eye exams are brief and the results are not explained clearly. My son has been in glasses for over a year- we most recently visited in July to be told his eyesight improved and we purchased a new set of glasses at their suggestion. He went in for an eye exam at school last week and failed with these new glasses on. I have visited this office at least 7 times in he past year and it is starting to feel like they just want to collect from my visit. My son plays soccer— I asked Dr. Guggino if I should purchase spots glasses and he told me “no, the ball is big enough for him to see.” I step into the room to pick up his everyday glasses and I am told he absolutely needs sports glasses because his vision needs are significant. I have spent a lot of time and money at this office and i do not think my son’s vision needs are being properly addressed. I will be bringing my son elsewhere. Dr. Guggino was incredibly patient with my son. My son did not want to tell him the letters when they tested his vision, but Dr. Guggino was very kind and did not push him to talk. After my son saw how gentle he was being, he finally opened up and started talking to him. It was a pleasant surprise and I'm happy Guggino took the time to gain his trust. My grand-daughter I have raised since birth was born with a condition called Nystamus. There is no "cure" for this condition, but there are treatments to help her see better. She has been seeing Dr Guggino since age 3 and loves him. He is always gentle and kind to her. He did some corrective surgery last year to help her eye muscles focus in front as opposed to the side of her, and she actually sees better now as a result. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for the experience and professionalism he and his office represents. Staff is always very nice and helpful to us. Thank you Dr Guggino! I had eye surgery a few years ago with Dr. Guggino and he did a great job! Highly recommend him.

I visited Dr. Guggino in 2017 to have muscle in one eye corrected. For nearly 65 years i had not been able to move my eye due to a childhood injury. Due to the age of the injury and atrophe in the muscle I do not have full range. Dr. Guggino literally performed a miracle by restoring a greater range of motion. A great relief after so many years.

In April 2016 we were on a family vacation when I got a foreign body in my eye. I was in excruciating pain. Dr Gugginos staff was able to get me an immediate appt and they were so kind and helpful. Dr Guggino was excellent and removed the object! Fast forward to Nov 2017 when I receive my first bill from the office and call to discuss. The billing manager could not have been more rude or condescending telling me I should have read my eob and called them to pay it. It's my responsibility to pay!

We are so thankful for Dr. Guggino for our daughter's eye surgery. Dr. Guggino is incredibly knowledgeable and caring. He was very kind and understanding with our daughter who was very scared to go through this surgery. We feel incredibly blessed to have Dr. Guggino for this delicate eye surgery. The surgery center staff was also very kind and reassuring to help put our daughter at ease through this procedure. Dr. Guggino's office staff was also very helpful and efficient.

My 5 year old son has a referral to see Dr Guggino for astigmatism in his left eye... I sure hope he treats my son better than his staff has treated me..

My 7 year old was referred to Dr. Guggino for eye surgery. We traveled from Naples to Tampa. We were very nervous about attempting to correct our sons eyes with surgery, to make them go straight. We tried to correct them with glasses, but were unsuccessful. To our amaze, the surgery was quick, about an hour, and we were up and back in a day. For the first time in three years, my son can see out of both eyes at the same time. He is a much happier little guy. The Dr. is very nice and professional. After initially being told I would need to wait 3 months for my daughter to be seen I was ecstatic that after explaining the urgency of the appointment they were able to work me in a week later. That's the only positive experience we had with this office. The nurse or tech (not sure what she was since she never introduced herself) was very abrupt and almost rough with my daughter. You cannot find a more experienced Pediatric Ophthalmologist in the Tampa Bay area! My son loves Dr. Guggino. I highly recommend!

Staff was rude. As a new client I had a vision referral and was told by staff that it needed to be faxed not hand delivered. When I called back for fax number staff told me that I needed to call back in an hour because fax machine sometimes does not work properly and see if fax was received. When I asked if she could call me back she told me no, I needed to call back. That is a shame. So unprofessional, I would not recommend ever.

I was referred to Dr. Guggino by St. Luke's cataract center for surgery to correct diplopia. I was given a prompt appointment. Dr. Guggino was pleasant, competent, did all appropriate test and explained the procedure, the risks and the expectations. The surgery went smoothly and the results were excellent. My double vision with which I had suffered for years and had been told by other doctors was not correctable, was completely cured. He is an excellent doctor.
