Dr. Gerard D'Aversa

I moved to FL 11 years ago and I still wish I could have brought OCLI, most especially Dr D’aversa with me! One of the BEST eye specialists I have met… and I have met many as I have complex eye issues. OCLI came to mind yet again today, as I am still searching for decent eye care providers in my area.

Horrible customer service. Good luck trying to reach them by phone. You'll wait on hold for at least an hour.

Waiting time for doctor is more than two minutes of HIS time

Dr D’Aversa may be a good dr ; but he had no time to write a prescription or to correct some prescription that were wrong ,we keep on calling the office ; they tell us he will take care of it ; but we r still waiting….

This doctor barely spends 5min and doesnt have time to answer questions. He runs out before you can ask another question. He seems to care about making most $ without having to spend more 8 min with a patients. Very unprofessional way of running a practice.

Excellent services. Dr D'Aversa and his team at OCLI provide excellent care and service to their patients.

He was a very good doctor in his bed side manner and top notch in his work. I would recommend to all.

Terrible experience. He doesnt like to spend a lot of time with patients even when his office isnt busy. He has one foot out the door when you ask questions. Very disappointed. He has an assistant do 90% of his work and he shows up at last minute for hardly 5-10 min.

I just had the worst experience. I no longer live in NY in the winter but made a trip here for a few Dr. appts. My appt. with Dr D'Aversa was made in late Nov. for the end of Jan. This morning I got confused as I usually go to the Garden City office. When I realized my mistake and that I needed to go to Valley Stream, I checked WAZE and it said I would arrive at 9:50 for a 9:30 appt. I should have just shown up , but out of courtesy I called the office to let them know. The receptionist said"let me check with the Dr." She came back and said after a 15 minute window I needed to reschedule. I have NEVER been turned away by a Dr. So needless to say , I'm finding a new eye doctor ! I just had the worst experience. I used Dr. D'Aversa's services about 10 years ago when I was suffering from a form of viral pink eye that was impairing my vision. Dr. D'Aversa prescribed a regimen of steroid drops to treat the virus and save my vision. I was very impressed with his medical knowledge and bedside manner. However, I had a negative experience with someone in the billing department who misinformed me that Dr. D'Aversa accepts the Metroplus insurance plan. As a result, Dr. D'Aversa was not paid for my last visit. I was turned off by the way that this medical office handled the situation. Instead of contacting me immediately to explain the problem and allowing me to correct it by switching to a different Medicaid health plan, they just turned me away at my next visit. I currently use a different eye doctor in Woodmere. I have always had a positive experience with his office. Phenomenal doctor and is considered the expert specializing in cornea surgery. If you're thin skinned perhaps he's not for you. But if you want the best of the best and you can put aside your fragile ego then it's a no brainer. I had double eye surgery. It's called crosslinking and it's for people suffering from keratoconus. Dr. D'Aversa was the only Doctor who diagnosed my problem. I went to 3 other Doctor's before him and they did not help at all!!! He finally solved my problem and I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

Saved my sight!!

Dr. D'Aversa is very attentive and friendly making sure are instructions are clearly understood before, during and after the surgery. Office staff are friendly and professional at both offices (Garden City & Valley Stream) and the Surgical Center.

What a wonderful, caring professional. Our daughter needed cataract surgery when she was a teenager. He walked us thru the entire process and took great care of her. Our whole family now uses him!

Unfortunately after being a patient of Dr. D'Aversa for years, I cannot recommend him as a doctor. He totally botched up a simple cataract operation. He described what I could expect and I got the opposite. He could not give me a valid reason but he was willing to do cataract surgery on the other eye to compensate. It would be like having two different contact lens prescriptions. He even had the audacity to suggest that it was my dry eye that caused the problem.

Dr. D'Aversa advised me on the repair needed when my first cataract operation with another doctor resulted in a complication. He carefully explained the risks for my second cataract surgery before the surgery. The day of the surgery, he explained each step as he performed it. The day after this surgery my vision was 20:20 and crystal clear.

I have found Dr,Daversa to be totally professional and caring. I was sent to him by my ophthalmologist due a certain eye condition that I have. He has brought relief from my pain and has always been caring.
