I woke up one morning with severe facial edema and hives all over my body. I went to the ER in fear that my throat or tongue may begin to swell. They immediately took me back and treated me. With in minutes my swelling went down. A few days later, I went to my pcp, who recommend I follow ip with this Dr. I made my appointment. When I arrived at my appointment, I was told they do not accept credit/debit cards. Since they hadn't informed me prior to my appointment they agreed to bill me. The staff was polite and helpful. Unfortunately, the Dr. was not. When he came in the room, he asked me a few questions regarding any precious allergies. I have none. He then left the room to examine a different patient who was waiting on him. Several minutes later, he returned. Rubbed a wooden stick on my arm and then asked me questions regarding medicines I take. Again, my answer was none. Other than the occasional OTC headache medicine. He questioned how frequently I took them. I explained, whenever I had a headache. Could be once every couple of months, or a couple times a week. He then became arrogant. Telling me, I'm over using them and questioned whether I had any in my purse. I told him I did not. He then gave me an, I don't believe you look. At this point, I was pretty annoyed. I offered for him to search my purse. I do not abuse pain pills. I can't and won't take prescription pain pills because they make me sick. I don't like taking medicine. He calmed down his arrogance when I informed him a managed another physician office in the area, and if my physicians treated our patients this way, I would fire them! He did no testing of any kind. Told me I was allergic to ibuprofen. And wrote a prescription for an epipen. Not sure, how he came to his diagnosis. I hadn't taken any pain medicine in weeks prior to my episode. My visit with him left a very bitter taste in my mouth. He performed no diagnostic tests on me. I feel as if my visit to him was a complete waste of my money. I made sure to inform my pcp office. I was told they too had received complaints on his beside manner.

Dr. Shatz's staff and office are welcoming and arranged for patient comfort. I had an emergency and had to get an appointment asap, and Dr. Shatz came in early so they could schedule me for that actual morning, and then when I got there, I didn't have to wait and they addressed me by name nicely. Dr. Shatz was professional and made me feel like a real person and answered all my concerns. Even without insurance I would still pay to see him instead of anyone else. Straight forward and accurate.Dr. Shatz was not condescending to my symptoms or complaints. Very epithetic.
