No words can describe how it felt to hear that my mitral valve is in need of repair. I am extremely nervous moving forward with this procedure, but his reassurances, and his reputation I have gained knowing I am in safe hands. I made up my mind to move forward with the surgery. fantastic surgeon and person. he replaced my father’s aortic and mitral valve, and was able to reconstruct parts of his heart. great bedside manner and truly a caring man. not sure where my dad would be if it wasn’t for him. he truly is an angel on earth.

(update) Words can't describe how wonderfully talented, caring, and skilled this man is. I never expected to wake up after a complete pericardiectomy. It's now over 12 years later, I'm in the best health I've been in in over a quarter century. This man is awesome! fred bailey

Dr. Lawrie did my mitral valve surgery in 2019. He did an outstanding job. Even though he was in the age of 70, he looks like 50+, very energetic and caring about me, the patient. Due to the complexity of my mitral valve damage, Dr. Lawrie used his excellent techniques to repair the valve, not to replaced it. If not for him, my valve might have to be replaced, permanent pacemaker might have to be installed and blood thinner medicine may have to be used for the rest of my life. Today (6/1/21), I am celebrating my 1 year OHS surgery for mitral valve repair, tricuspid valve repair, and cox-maze procedure. Thank you Dr. Lawrie, your entire team, and the folks at Houston Methodist! You are all truly amazing! One year out, I am back to my pre-OHS old self and I've even returned to doing my HIIT workouts 4x weekly. You guys are the best! Dr Lawrie performed a triple bypass on me 8 weeks ago. I am pretty much completely over the surgery now even though its only 8 weeks. He and his staff took great care of me and they all did a wonderful job. Do not be afraid of heart surgery with Dr Lawrie, you can trust him with your life! I DID and I would do it again!!!!!

I can’t say enough about Dr. Lawrie. He saved my husbands life. He did a mitral valve repair. The night before surgery he found an aortic aneurysm. He repaired that. After 3 weeks he is walking a mile a day. Dr. Lawrie’s bedside manner is so warm and encouraging. I love you Dr. Lawrie.

Top valve surgeon in the world. OUTSTANDING! I'm a thin and trim guy, never smoked and never experimented with drugs, only to learn my mitral valve failed and I was headed for atrial fib and a potential stroke if I didn't fix it immediately. I interviewed several cardiac surgeons. Dr. Lawrie had the top credentials and professional experience. Surgery went perfectly. The most amazing thing of all: My surgery was on Monday, Tuesday I'm out of ICU, Wednesday they change the bandage and Thursday he comes to my room with two P.A's. He advised all was well and I was being released Saturday. My question: "When do I come in for the first followup?". His answer: "It's not necessary. We consider you cured!" Dr. Lawrie repaired an aortic aneurysm in November, 2011. He is an amazing person, excellent doctor. When I went for the initial consultation, I was so worried, stressed, we talked, before I left his office, I was a completely different person. I knew God had sent me to the right doctor. It's been almost 7 years, feel good, no problems whatsoever. I am so happy and grateful he is a surgeon. I was amazed there were so many people from outside Texas waiting to see him. Dr. Lawrie had great bedside manners and his staff was amazing. We came to him for a second opinion after being told open heart surgery was required by a Dr. in Beaumont. Results came back clear and no blockage with no surgery needed. Highly recommend Dr. Lawrie. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Outstanding doctor. Couldn't ask for a more talented, compassionate cardiologist. Because of him, both my father and mother are alive today one year later since he saved both their lives and they will celebrate their 63 years of marriage, He is truly the best. in a very competitive field of many.
