Dr. Rajacich refuses to own up to his mistakes or call his patient: I’ve never written a negative review before - but need to warn my neighbors. Dr. Rajacich performed Cataract Surgery on my wife on August 5, 2020. The result was months of emotional and physical trauma due to his multiple missteps and errors in judgement which led to her extreme visual disorientation. A total lack of patient education was provided on lens options. Due to a weak left eye, my wife was NOT a good candidate for a panoptic lens; it failed completely. Plus, the WRONG replacement lens strength was implanted. The surgical center was very sub-par, crowded, filled with unorganized junk. An “old school” incision technique (out of favor for decades) was used. Four weeks after surgery, he left her with no hope by saying “I don’t know what’s wrong, and I don’t know what to do. Something might be wrong with your brain.” His retinal specialist performed a fluorescein-angiography with injected dye and declared that nothing was wrong. However, it turns out his antiquated equipment failed to detect swelling of her left retina, and therefore she was NOT offered a prescription of NSAID drops to reduce swelling. Despite her inability to read or drive, along with feeling highly disoriented and hopeless, she was told to wait four more months to see if her brain could adjust to the new lens. This was bad medical advice. Five weeks after the failed surgery, my wife went to see another ophthalmologist. Yet Dr. Rajacich's staff refused to send over her medical records - violating her patient rights. The new cataract center in Westwood used state-of-the-art tools to provide clear, accurate pictures of her retinal swelling and uneven optic nerves. What ten visits with three ophthalmologists under Dr. Rajacich’s supervision (over the course of five weeks) could not do, one visit at the new office was able to accomplish, with compassion and competence, enabling her nightmarish experience to finally begin to resolve. My wife placed multiple phone calls to reach Dr. Rajacich, asking for a simple conversation (after being his patient for many years), yet he “hid” behind his office staff and refused to speak to his patient after wreaking havoc in her life over three months. Conclusion: DO NOT TRUST this doctor for your cataract surgery. Go elsewhere.
