I visited West Idaho Orthopedics to seek treatment for shoulder pain. I was told I have a torn rotator cuff, and surgery was recommended and was scheduled. The surgery date was 1.5 months from the date of my first visit. They called 3 days before the surgery and cancelled the surgery. I was told that my surgeon was not compatible with my insurance/hospital and that I would have to find another surgeon. They should have caught that much earlier in the process. I had to start over with another surgeon at West Idaho Orthopedics, but nothing was moving forward. After visiting the office four more times over the next month, I was finally told that surgery could take place in 5 weeks. All told, from the date of my first visit to the date surgery was scheduled, was a total of 3.5 months. I felt that was unacceptable and unprofessional, so I severed my relationship with West Idaho Orthopedics. I feel that my time and money were wasted.

Dr. Nicola and his team are the best. I researched extensively, met with two other surgeons, and selected Dr. Nicola. I had total knee replacement on August 24th and six weeks later I was playing golf again. Everything went perfect. Dr. Nicola has an excellent "bedside manner". His PA who assists in the surgeries, Craig Jamison, is also excellent. "Thanks Craig, my scar is barely noticeable." I believe Dr. Nicola and his team are the best in the Treasure Valley for total knee replacement.

had a buckle tear in my knee on my miniscus and dr nicola did a great job and I am overly happy after 5 years and I am running and doing great.

I went to Nicola with knee pain. After xrays and diagnoses he said he could do repair work. He said it would take care of the pain. After recovering from the surgery I still had pain. Nicola said I would need a knee replacement. I was angry because he should have told me in the first place. I saw another surgeon who told me he had heard similar complaints. More surgeries means more money.

Dr. Nicola is a very patient, kind and knowledgeable orthopedist. He explained everything so completely about my knee replacement surgery that I was totally at ease and ready for my life changing operation. After six weeks of recovering I was able to walk around gardens, Greenbelts and do gardening in my huge yard.

I have had one knee replaced and will be having the other one done soon. Dr. Nicola and his P.A.s are easy to talk to and their comments and recommendations are easy to understand. After hearing horror stories about knee replacements done by other doctors, I feel very comfortable, safe, and fortunate having Dr. Nicola and his P.A.s do my other knee. I have already recommended him to several others.

Dr. Nicola did two knee replacement surgeries on me recently (12/'17 & 4/'18). He and his staff were simply outstanding and I wish I could give him a higher rating. Everything went smoothly and without any complications. My preliminary evaluation, the surgeries, and subsequent rehab treatments was excellent. Dr. Nicola took the time to explain my condition, the possible treatment solutions, all the ramifications of surgery and was very receptive to questions. I highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Nicola is amazing! He is the most knowledgeable, amazing Ortho Surgeon there is. The work he performs is incredible, I trust him completely and his results back up my trust. Thank you!

I suffered with a completely torn rotator cuff and had exruciating pain and loss of use. It even affected my sleep. Well after going to St. Luke's orthopedics for many months, I was at a dead end. It was tough getting pain meds from St. Lukes, and also I was told I needed a shoulder replacement, but I couldn't have one, because I was too young (61). You can just imagine my frustration. So, I took my friends advice and went to Dr. Nicola. Best decision ever! He fixed my shoulder!!!!

Dr Nicola replaced my left knee and I am 9 weeks out and a 110% success. I came home the same day. I have never had knee pain since the surgery only pain in surrounding muscles. Dr Nicola gave me 10 years back on my life. I limped for more than 5 years after surgery no more limp. I can walk up and down stairs and ride a bike. Great surgeon great recovery because of his technique and ability. THANK YOU DR NICOLA

He was able to do a revision of my knee done by dr Poole. He did a great job and for once in 5 years I can walk without pain. Don't go to anyone else with knee problems especially those idiots and st lukes. Him his staff and the other doctors at this office care about the well being of the patients and not top dollar.

I have had 2 surgeries done by Dr. Nicola and he explains everything in detail what I'm going to experience. He talks to me like an equal not above me.

I was referred to Dr. Nicola following a complete tear of my L. Achilles tendon. I was in my early 50's still playing active futbol and I did not want to be rendered unable to play. Dr. Nicloa was positive about his ability to restore my mobility. After surgery I was able to walk in a boot and being very curious I asked him "what kind of stitch did you do to connect these very fibrous 'horse-tail' tears?" Dr. Nicola smiled and drew on a piece of paper the criss-cross stitch. Amazing man!

I highly recommend Dr. Nicola & his team. This is my second knee surgery & I am amazed how they are so hands on & available in every aspect of my post op care.

I consider Dr. Nicola the best Orthopedist I have been too. I have now had both shoulders down, and both knees. Dr. Nicola did both of my knees. He is extremely concerned about his patients, and he is right there every step. He even gave me his person cell phone. I have issues with the pain blocks, they wear off really fast. I watched him take the nurses aside and explain this to them, he said " keep him out of pain, if you need authorization here is my cell phone, call ME!. It worked.

I had a great experience with my knee resurfacing. Dr. Nicola did a wonderful job on my knee. I am 2 weeks out and recovering very quickly. He and his PA 's listened to all of my concerns and gave me the time and answers I needed to feel very safe and confident. I have already scheduled my second knee. Dr. Nicola is great and he did a perfect job on my right knee replacement & some repair. I was surprised how well the recovery process has gone.....I am 8 wks out and am very, very pleased. I am scheduled the end of Oct. for my left knee replacement! I had struggled with pain in getting around for at least 10 yrs but thought that it was just my osteoarthritis and that I had to learn to deal with it. I just turned 80, but Dr. Nicola assured me that he felt that I was a candidate for surgery.

I am very pleased with the results of my knee surgery. Dr. Nicola is a great, too bad I can't say the same for the office staff.

I don't normally like doctors generally because I don't feel I can relate to them, however George treats me as a person on my level vs. his level. He is sure to make me feel comfortable by teasing me when I am sarcastic which puts me at ease. He is a doctor first but also a friend not just an opinion of "you need to do this" period. He makes the tough decisions easier to accept by being more human than some doctors that I have had to deal with. he is not only a great doctor he is a great person.

I came to Dr. Nicola because of his exceptional reputation as an excellent as well as personable orthopedic surgeon. His knowledge and expertise was evident from the start and the mechanism of his diagnosis, pre, and post-operative care was informative, efficient, and progressive.

Dr. Nicola is a very caring physician. I wish every physician cared about there patient and service as Dr. Nicola did for me we all would feel better. He truly cares about how you feel. He makes you comfortable with questions and follows through with his service. If I ever need his services again I will never wait to schedule an appointment. Should have seen him sooner.

I went to Dr. Nicola on a second opinion about my knee and it was the best decision I have ever made. Dr. Nicola does not push surgery, but he instead will start with the more conservative treatments 1st. Very professional Dr. with great bedside manner.

He was a great surgeon who listened to what I said and help me find a solution which in the end was surgery. He talked to me about what it meant and did a great job. I had no problems and was back to normal in a week or so. I would recommend him to anyone. Going to anyone else in the northwest for your knee would be stupid

Awesome, professional

This doctor experimented on me without my permission or knowledge. Further, after the fact, he kept his mouth shut and did not talk with my therapist about the changes he did and I got wrong after care. Numerous visits to his office and not once did he explain what he did that was different and caused a lot of problems with my recovery and has cost me a lot of time and money. Stay away from him!!!

Dr. Nicola listened to what my concerns were. He gave me the option of making the decision in every aspect of my care. He wanted me to feel comfortable. He was truthful in everything he told me. Everything was explained in full detail. I am so very happy I had the knee resurfacing and replacement. I would go to no one else.

Love, love , love Dr. Nicola and his staff. He is very friendly and concerned about his patients. Great bedside manner! Thanks for the new elbow Doc!

Dr. Nicola is great. He listens to my concerns and takes the time to answer questions and give suggestions. He has done a wonderful job on both my knees. I would definitely recommend him to anyone having knee trouble.

First of all he is very friendly, I was nervous going into surgery and he made it easy to go through it. He knows what he is doing and is good at what he does, so if your looking for a good knee or any other that he does then he is the dr for that. I am very pleased with the surgery!!! Thank you Dr Nicola.
