We were first time parents at our 20 week ultrasound. Dr. Macones came in very serious and somber, asking questions about how many pregnancies we'd had and our family genetic history. He then told us our baby had echogenic intestines and was at risk for Down Syndrome or Cystic Fibrosis and wanted us to do blood testing. He then stated our risk was only 5%, but we had been scared stiff by then. We opted to do a 28 week ultrasound with another doctor, which came back completely clear. Very scary.
