Terrible Experience. I had a doctors appointment today and I thought WOW what a great experience and then I thought about my experience with Schonfeld, the complete opposite. My brothers and I grew up seeing Dr Schonfeld. I have many memories from her office that I can laugh at now. From her stitching my brothers finger one Easter Sunday before church, her calling an ambulance for my other brothers appendicitis, to me sticking 5 beads up my nose and not being able to blow them all out. I continued using her as my doctor until she told me I was getting too old and needed to find a new doctor, I was in my 20's... My brothers and I grew up seeing Dr Schonfeld. I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled because the entire team at East End Pediatrics was incredibly thoughtful and supportive in their approach to practicing medicine. We recently moved from the city post Covid and my son had a prolonged fever which was concerning to us. Dr. Schoenfeld (and Dr. Favre as the secondary doctor) was so transparent and thorough in her thought process and ultimately correctly diagnosed the issue. She also proactively coordinated with my child's pediatrician in the city and later communicated directly with the specialists at Mount Sinai in the city to provide a complete historic report to the doctors as they were assessing a surgical procedure. My pediatric surgeon at Mount Sinai reiterated that the medical advice and recommended care we received from East End Pediatrics was exactly what he would have recommended. Unprofessional and rude

This was an absolutely horrible experience. I am shocked that this woman can practice medicine and have filed a complaint with the NY State Medical board. This doctor was coughing and did not take the proper procedures that basic pediatric physicians maintain like hygiene and cleanliness.

Incredibly rude

I never write reviews for anything, but I am still trying to process what went on today at our visit with this MD. My 12 year old son was running a high fever and needed a strep test. We had been referred years ago by our NYC pediatrician. I was there with my 12 year old and my 9 year old. After palpating my sons neck - Dr. Schonfeld remarked, “well, these glands are mobile and not too swollen, nothing is hard or pea sized... so no cancer.” My sons and I were stunned and speechless. She went on to describe the science of the lymphatic system to which my 9 year old stated, “ the only word I heard you say was cancer.” “Do I have glands? Will I get cancer?” He asked. I was shocked and almost paralyzed with outrage. She went on to say that “ not facing your fears or talking about them is what can ruin your life”. Further, she asked my 9 year old ( who was almost in tears at this point) : “ Do you know how many kids get cancer? Do you know how many die from cancer?” Her answer: “not many - we’ve come so far.” At this point my 12 year old said, “We came for a strep test, not because we think I have cancer or need life lessons - please stop it.” To which Dr. Schonfeld replied, “This was mostly for your mom”. That would be me. I have been practicing for 20 years in the city and have owned my own medical practice for the last 10 years. I have never in my life witnessed a practitioner so blatantly disregard what is clearly appropriate for her patients just to voice her own views. As I learned it, it’s first do no harm. My 9 year old left in tears and we were all completely traumatized. I am outraged that this woman could behave in this manner. It is not in line with good practice. She has no idea of our family or medical history. No idea of the learning styles of my kids - if they could even process what she was saying. And, I, having lost a sister at a young age, could not have been more offended and distressed. Furthermore, the insinuation that it was “all for your Mom”, is particularly dark and outrageous. What could that possibly mean? I wish there was a definitive consequence for this type of behavior. All I can hope is that no other family has to be subjected to this type of attack, which is what it was: literally, an attack. I wish I could give less than 1 star. It was abominable. My family has had a very different experience. My 16yo has been seeing Dr. Schonfeld for twelve years and is much healthier than he would be otherwise. While in elementary school, he often tested negative on the rapid strep test but positive on the real one and was on antibiotics all the time with another pediatrician, but Dr. Schonfeld told us that this will usually be the case because he is a carrier. Lyme went undiagnosed for six months. There was an issue with frequent urination that she diagnosed as constipation. She spent about half an hour gently removing stubborn ear wax. She spends absolutely the amount of time she needs to in order to figure out the problem. It is easier to drive 3.5 hours from the City to see her than to see his other pediatrician a few blocks away. I wish my son could stay with her through adulthood. old school dr, very poor social skills, difficult to communicate with, doesn't listen well, treats parents as they were completely clueless and uneducated, talked to me as if I was 5 years old. Sends you home without treatment even if there a serous conditions telling you your child's immun system is strong enough to fight it. After my child's birth she walked into the hospital room not even greeting us and put her finger into my newborn's mouth saying This baby is hungry! And then she left.
