Dr. Frederick A Depaola

Additional positive information to my earlier review of Dr. DePaola. August of ‘22 I was being evaluated to donate a kidney when an unrelated health issue suddenly came up postponing further evaluation. December ‘22 I saw Dr. DePaola for my arthritis and told him about being a kidney donor and the sudden, unexpected health issue. He immediately said there is no way I can be cleared for transplant surgery. January 2023 the transplant team advised me I was ineligible to donate. Dr. DePaola was right again.

Today I had an unbelievable and unforgettable experience in my whole life when it comes to be treated in such a horrible way by a “doctor”. After waiting for a while to see him, I was shocked and still in disbelief to be put in such an awkward situation by someone who is trusted to be a “doctor”.As he walked in without any introduction or a simple courtesy, he jumped right on to his computer, without even looking at me, asked “why are you here?” As I was trying to explain about my knee pain and the reason I was there, he kept saying in an intimidating tone of voice “hold on” “be specific” “what are you talking about” “if you don’t know the type of gel injection you got, I will not treat you” “how come you don’t know?”, etc. He went on and on, and I was at the point of thinking about leaving the room This doctor “Frederick DePaola” should not be permitted to treat patients. He certainly ruined my day. He gives you the impression that you are a burden on him and he is forced to see yo

Not impressed at all. Kept getting asked "why are you here, who referred you?" I have seen 3 other doctors in this practice for other issues and never been treated this way. Would not recommend him and will not go back to him.

The worst Dr i have ever been to. He just sat there and complained, wouldn't listen to anything I had to say and kept asking me what I wanted him to do for me. I finally just walked out. One of the most rude human beings I have ever come across in my life. And as far as I'm concerned a totally incompetent doctor. He only does knees which doesn't take the rest of the body into consideration that might be impacting the knees. Quake!

One of the worst doctors I've ever been to. If you don't know how to self-diagnose don't bother going to him.

Saw him back in August, he was very rude and misdiagnosed me. I have hip dysplasia, which he mentioned nothing about. Only going to another doctor, outside of Seaview, was I properly diagnosed. Also, he must have given PT the wrong orders, because they treated the hip that didn't hurt and never addressed my left knee issues. I found the whole process and this doctor (along with PT center) reaffirmed my thought that it's best to go into Manhattan when you want to be properly diagnosed.

I have never been treated so poorly by a physician. I share this review because I hope that no other patient is put in the uncomfortable position I was today or leaves the office feeling how I felt. Frederick's behaviors made it clear that my visit was a great inconvenience to him. I had to excuse myself from the appointment and leave before ever being treated.

The day I saw Dr. DePaola for the 4th knee injection was very traumatic, I waited in the exam room for a half hour, When doctor came in, I said, in a"cutsie" tone, "I thought you might have forgotten me". He proceeded to YELL at me saying"you don't know what personal problems I have!" "And if you don't like waiting, find another doctor". He then shouted at me,"I went for bloodwork last week and had to wait an hour". Again, he yelled"if you don't like waiting, get another doctor". I am not exaggerating when I say, he was yelling at me!

Dr. DePaolo replaced my hip on January 23rd 2020. I chose him because he performed the Anterior procedure & from my research and someone I know who had it done this way I knew this is what I wanted. The operation took less than 2 hrs. I honestly don't know why there are a fèw negative comments on this site regarding this Surgeon because I found him very professional..he always listened to me & answered all my questions. The first 2 weeks were uncomfortable while healing and the in home Physical therapy was painful but now 6 weeks later I'm great...driving and doing everything I did before! I highly recommend Dr. DePaolo!

I feel he was a very thoughtful and caring dr who did a very thorough exam and listened to me. I would highly recommend him and feel he is a very good dr. He went out of his way to get to the bottom of my complaint and figure out a plan of action that would work for me.

Awful. A very rude man that makes you feel like you are a bother to him. Agree with the others...he doesn’t let you speak. Would not recommend him AT ALL.

Hip replacement, my first major surgery at age 72. Doctor DePaola kept me calm, cool and collected. Recovery and physical therapy had me up and about in no time. Celebrating my two year anniversary since operation. Still going strong.

Every time I come he is so helpful I’m in pain I leave with 75 % out of pain he gives me an injection and it helps so much To get rid of the pain

Dr DePaola is the best !!love his approach to a solution for issue. And his honesty is comforting. He is very thorough with explaining issue and the treatment he recommends. This is my second issue I'm coming to him for help with.

I saw Doctor Dr Paola for a follow up to a broken and sprained ankle today. Grade 3 ligament tears, Broken heel, etc. I’ve been in a boot for 4 weeks. Happy to say the appt went well. He was very satisfied with the new xrays, and I’m coming out out my boot, into a brace and on to physical therapy. Couldn’t be happier with the time he spent, the explanations, and overall treatment and care, and the patient answers to repeated questions :) Excellent doctor/ great practice! So happy with my results

Very rude and doesn't give the patient a chance to speak. I am a nurse so I tried explaining my symptoms using anatomical terms, and he told me that he didn't understand and wanted me to dumb it down for him after interrupting me several of times. It seems like he wants patients in and out, factory style.

Made you feel like you were a complete inconvenience to his day . Wouldn’t let you talk. Spoke over you. Worse experience I have ever had with a doctor

Overall experience has exceeded expectations! Both his professional and personal interaction is very thorough and informative, would highly recommend him in the future.

He treated my 87 y/o grandmother horribly. I am SO upset by how he treated her. No bedside manner at all. Didn't even greet her or introduce himself. Then told her she needed a hip replacement and there was nothing else he could do for her. When she told him at her age she did not want to have surgery and asked if she could receive any shots to help alleviate the pain he told her, "I don't do shots." I would not even give him 1 star if I had the option.

Dr. DePaola is a very caring, smart physician. I like his honesty. He is very thorough, and I always feel confident in his decisions regarding my care. He always discusses all the pros and cons of treatment. He has done 2 surgeries on me, and he has been my Dr. Since 2010. I highly recommend him. You do wait a bit in his office to see him but that is because he is so popular. Seaview Orthopaedics is a very pleasant place. It is very busy, but everyone you come into contact with is efficient.

Cold,rude,non caring is just a start. Waited 2 hours for appointment never introduced himself and then asked why we were here. This was the fifth trip to Seaviews office for same issue. I left without proper diagnois or further evaluation or treatment. ZERO bedside manners
