Dr. Fred Kelly Cunningham

After being told I needed a total reverse shoulder replacement, I got a second opinion from Dr. Cunningham, who offered an alternative of biologic treatment which he said could offer me a 70% chance of relief for a year and a half to two years. He was completely open about costs, expectations, and the procedure. He performed an extraction of my bone marrow cells, processed them in the office, and injected it in my shoulder (about an hour). I can now take a full swing on a golf ball, can cast a fishing rod, and can be active at the gym, without pain, for the first time in 5 years. All at the age of 75! I can't recommend Dr. Cunningham highly enough. He is professionally beyond competent, he listens, sets very reasonable expectations, and is very easy to work with. His staff is highly supportive, and my recent experience with him was the easiest I could imagine.

Ongoing issues with right knee due to OLD sports injuries. Looking for treatment options as opposed to knee replacement. Outstanding interactive visit with Dr. Cunningham with an agreed upon treatment protocol.

Dr. Cunningham performed a meniscus repair and prp injection. My recovery was very fast and easy. My knee has never felt better. Dr. Cunningham spent a lot of time with me in my appointments, thoroughly explaining his plan, my options, and recovery. He really is a fantastic surgeon, and he and his staff are very kind and professional. I had a great experience and trust him implicitly.

I ruptured an Achilles Tendon just before Christmas. Dr. Cunningham was able to fit me in before New Years. He prescribed PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy at the time of surgery I did not know what to expect so the good results I obtained were either a good Physical Therapist or great genes. But, I had injured my knew at the time I ruptured the Achilles. This time we decided to just try a PRP injection. The results were very quick! And what a difference. I've got motion on the knee that I haven't had for years. There's still some pain but with all the arthritis this knee has I'm not surprised. I've known Dr. Cunningham from my son's sports injuries but now he's my Ortho Dr and will stay that way. And you've just got to try the PRP. This is a great office with really good support personnel. I was able to establish and excellent rapport with the staff and Dr. Cunningham. The key has been the trust and value that they have built into the relationship. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

The initial thought was an 80% rotator cuff tear. It ended up being 100% and I needed smoothing of bone. Dr. Cunningham gave me great info and took the time to explain what was going on. I had PRP in my hip earlier in the year. I took his advice and did it with my shoulder, also. The physical therapist commented that my recovery was *way* beyond normal and after five weeks I already have 100% range of motion over my head. Angelique, Bill, and Sergio (his staff) have been helpful, professional, and always willing to answers questions and explain the procedures.

From reception to the intake to the PA to Dr. Cunningham, I was treated professionally and given information and options that were helpful, realistic, and exactly what I was hoping for when I made my appointment.

I have had persistent left knee pain for years and after 2 meniscus repairs, I decided to seek treatment from a different provider who might be willing to treat my knee with something other than meniscus repair surgery and/or steroid injections. Dr. Cunningham injected my own stem cells in not only my joint but also my tibia and I am literally pain free for the first time in 10 years. Will I do it again? For sure. Will I eventually need knee replacement? Probably, but until then, I will come back to Dr. Cunningham since he helped me so very much.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cunningham for over 20 years as he's operated on both of my knees. His skills as a surgeon led me back to him this past January (2019) after a bicycle accident. I injured my shoulder and was diagnosed with a massive rotator cuff tear. A few weeks later, Dr. C performed a four hour procedure to repair the tear that included the insertion of a cadaver patch in my shoulder. The operation appears to have been a success as I have regained most of my range of motion, and my strength training is improving weekly. The severity of the cuff tear and delicate nature of the surgery resulted in a careful recovery regiment in order to let the patch and cuff heal properly. My physical therapist Heidi (at Arise Austin Medical Center) has also been great and very instrumental in my recovery. Needless to say, I'll continue going to Dr. Cunningham any and every time I'm injured and need surgery.

I began to experience pain in my knees which I assumed was caused by age related arthritis. I set an appointment with Dr. Cunningham to discuss stem cells & the procedure. He ordered an MRI & the results indicated a meniscus tear & cartilage thinning & delamination in both knees. He operated on the meniscus tear in right knee, corrected some alignment issues with the kneecap & worked on the bone to increase blood flow/healing. He also collected bone marrow stem cells & injected into both knees. I was released 2 weeks early & other than the initial short recovery I have had no knee pain. I was back to my regular exercise program well before estimated. I am extremely pleased with the results and Dr. Cunningham's professionalism and staff. I had stem cell rejuvenation 3 weeks ago. It is an amazing procedure, little discomfort and my knee is doing great. I had bone on bone and a fracture at the top of my tibia. Dr. Cunningham extracted my stem cells from my hip bone and injected into my knee. Then used my platelets injected into my bones to heal the fracture. I still am amazed at what medicine is doing and grateful I had this procedure done.

Absolutely wonderful experience. I had very complicated shoulder injury(Rotator Cuff). Further complicated by fact that I have disabled child that I need to lift. Dr. Cunningham was able to get me back to 100 percent! I'm able to care for my daughter without any issues. Very helpful staff as well.

I chose Dr. Cunningham from an infomercial on KVUE TV and from reviews on his website. I was curious about the stem cell offering but found out during my initial consultation that it was not covered by insurance so I declined that option. I had a severed long bicep tendon caused by bone spurs, Dr. Cunningham ground down the bone spurs and reattached the tendon. I'm currently 12 weeks out from surgery, in physical therapy and am so excited about how good I feel. Thank you Dr. Cunningham.

I left Dr. Cunningham's office absolutely furious. My experience was of the stereotypical bad doctor visit - He didn't listen to me (didn't ask any questions either), didn't examine me, just threw out a diagnosis and ordered another expensive test (after already ordering a different one before ever seeing me). I sat in a windowless room for a total of 50 minutes and only spent 5 mins with him and 3 with his PT. The PT gave me a sheet of paper and never showed me the exercises. I won't be back.

Dr. Cunningham mixes old school medicine with sound new approaches resulting in the least invasive and most effective procedure. For a 60 year old guy like me, being able to return to full activities was a blessing. Kelly is a great communicator and really listens. I went to see Dr. Cunningham with a shoulder problem. Even though the x-ray was inconclusive he knew there was a problem and sent me to have an MRI. I had an 80% tear in my rotator cuff. 3 months after surgery (with stem cell injection) my shoulder is almost back to normal. I am back in my workout routine and only have slight soreness swinging a tennis racquet or golf club.

My wife had a bone spur on her socket joint in her hip but didn't know it. Just pain. Dr. Cunningham was not known to us, but was part of our network. We made an emergency appointment. From that point onward, he and his team did a great job dealing with her pain and then surgery and rehab. We could not be more pleased with both his capabilities and his suggestions for recovery. His services are not cheap (actually are pretty expensive), but in our view well worth it.

Dr. Cunningham has operated on me 3 times - 2 shoulders & 1 hip with a labral tear & bond spurs. During the hip surgery he used the stem cells procedure then afterward I needed 2 PRP's. My hip has fully recovered and back to like-new. When the other hip started bothering me, MRI showed labral tear. So far, I've had 1 PRP and it's feeling much better - with a labral tear before it would have been surgery as the only option but with PRP and stem cell now there are non-surgical options.

I'm a local firefighter and recently tore the meniscus in my knee for the second time. I saw Dr. Cunningham on the recommendation of a coworker. I couldn't be happier with the results. After determining that my meniscus was indeed torn again, Dr. Cunningham suggested a cartilage graft and stem cell injection in addition to the meniscectomy. The results were better than I hoped for, I had a quick recovery and I'm able to run again, which I wasn't able to do even before this second injury.

Over the past year, I have had great results getting PRP treatments for my hips. I had heard good things about PRP and was familiar with Dr. Cunningham and his reputation so I opted out of surgery recommended by another doctor and began PRP. Prior to PRP , I had pain daily and was limited to walking short distances. After my first treatment, I had great results and was able to resume normal activities, including moderate excercise 3-4 times per week. I will definitely continue this path!

Dr. Cunningham is an expert in his field. He has done work for the Dallas Cowboys and Olympians which gave me plenty of confidence in his ability to cure and fix my shoulder issues. Phenomenal!! Called them to check for cancellations, (I got lucky I know) but they squeezed me in. When I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly faces. They didn't seem bothered in the least to help out!! A lot of Medical stuff has to do with insurance, but these guys brought the personal aspect back!!

I had a previous ACL repair and scar tissue manipulation prior to visiting Dr.Cunningham. It wasn't a bad repair, but I had excessive amounts of scar tissue preventing me from full range of motion. My leg was just stuck bent and I had been walking with a limp for 9 months. I then saw Dr.Cunningham and he informed me I needed a more aggressive approach at removing the scar tissue. He took his time and explained everything clearly. After a long and tedious surgery I am able to walk normal!
