I love Dr.Banki and her staff! My surgery went amazing and my results are great! I no longer have the hernia and my reflux is non existent!

I was suffering with gerd, gastritis, acid reflux for around 30 years. Dr Banki was highly recommended to me by a gastroenterologist to get her opinion and surgical options. As soon as she walked in the room, she made me feel comfortable. She’s down to earth, compassionate and patient. She sat down and listened to me. She even slowed me down to show me my X-rays and explained my options and what to expect. I’ve never had a doctor care to even take the time to call after hours to answer questions, like she did. Now, after surgery, It feels AWESOME, not to feel all that discomfort I had for so long. I highly recommend and have already recommended her to others. By the way, her receptionists are professional and very helpful. Plus they return phone calls. Her surgical team, also professional, kind, friendly and fun.

My mother is 83 years old and we have been to numerous doctors about her medical complications; which includes digestive issues, hiatal hernia; and detached stomach (discovered by Dr. Banki); in all honesty other doctors consistently dismissed my mother and never really diagnosed her issues properly...Until we met Dr. Banki; who listened to mothers' medical complaints and she had the vision and the intestinal fortitude to operate on an 83 year old person. Dr. Banki didn't see "AGE" as a death sentence, instead she gave us “HOPE” that my mom’s health conditions could improve. Dr Banki is a very friendly person and gifted surgeon. She made me feel at ease with the work to be done. She took all the time necessary to explain the surgery and my recovery. She repaired an old Nissen fundiolucation, and no more reflux. It is such a relief. The young ladies who manage her office and patients are friendly, and work very well together. I just cannot say enough about the wonderful care I received, both in her office, the surgery, and the nurse care in recovery. I am a new person. Thank you so much, Dr Banki.

Dr. Banki and her staff ensure that you are in the best hands possible. Her no-nonsense approach makes you feel comfortable about the outcome of your procedure. My surgical appointment was running late and all the nurses said "something must be wrong" she's never late. That's not like her at all. Up and down the corridor all the nurses reassured me that there had to be an emergency of some sort. Sure enough, there was an emergency she had to take care. When she came to see me before the surgery she was unflappable as ever. I knew then that I was going to be all right and I was. Not that I want another procedure done but if so, nobody but Dr. Banki will do it!

Seeing Dr Banki on my first visit was to discuss my issue & surgery. Needless to say, I was very apprehensive ! She was so sweet and encouraged me to slow down and relax! Dr. Banki performed my husbands surgery recently. She took her time in the office to talk to us and give all options, before we decided on surgery. She was very detailed with all aspects of his surgery. *Before…with all of the pre testing and giving us all options *During his surgery….as she came to give me updates when his surgery was completed. *After he went home…she called herself the next evening to see how he was doing and we had no issues getting a post surgical dowels up appt. I met Dr. Banki 1 month ago after having swallow testing for problems I had been having. Turns out at 76 years old she found I had a hernia, along with other problems in my throat area.She explained what she would be doing to correct the problem. Went back to have 2 hour surgery the next week.Everyone from Office to Drs Hospital Staff made me feel comfortable and very confident. Best doctor I've ever had, very professional, and takes care of you completely until you are ready to go home.

For the past 5 years I have been having GERD and heartburn issues and taking medicine. I spoke to Dr. Banki and she scheduled me to get an EGD and barium swallow study done. I had a hiatal hernia that need to be repaired. She told me my options either you can continue to take medicine or I can repair. Dr. Banki took the time to show me a diagram of the procedure and explained in detail what she would be doing. I decide to have the procedure. Later that week I started developing some pain in my right upper quadrant area. I called Dr. Banki and she wanted to see me and then scheduled an ultrasound. I still had my gallbladder so she was worried that could be the reason for my pain. I ended up having my hiatal surgery and while Dr. Banki was repairing she noticed my gallbladder was inflamed and should be removed. So I ended up having my gallbladder removed. Best decision Dr, Banki made for me. Dr. Banki is not only a wonderful Doctor, she treats you like family. I was nervous about the procedure and the outcome with going to Memorial Hermann, but Dr. Banki made the experience a pleasure and easy. With all the protocol hospitals have I stayed firm on my decisions. I just wanted to express my appreciation and what a wonderful person and Doctor, Dr. Banki is. Dr Banki and her staff are absolutely amazing. After years of having issues with swallowing food and drink, she resolved my issue. I'm still recovering but I cannot foresee anything other than 100% recovery. I have waited a year for this review, having had surgery that the outcome changed within a year. Dr Banki is incredible. I suffered from chronic dumping syndrome a a result of a niesem fundiplucation. Dr Banki corrected a restriction and re positioned my stomach and I have been cured every since. Prior to her operating, I would eat and within twenty minutes had to go to bathroom. This was destroying my life. Thank God for Dr Banki. Dr. Banki, her office staff and hospital team are the most professional, amazing and compassionate people I have ever been blessed to have come into my life. In 2018 I had a nissenfundoplication with a doctor my gastro. Doctor had referred me to. October 1921and I started having a lot of pain in my abdominal area. After being in the hospital, in my town, twice and being misdiagnosed and still in pain, my sister-in-law got me straight into The Texas Digestive Disease group which then referred me to Dr. Banki. Apparently the nissen fundoplication had begun to come apart and my stomach had herniated around it. When Dr. Banki came in the room, her confident, calming and compassionate demeanor had me in tears. I immediately felt my anxiety go down and a calmness came over me. I was referred to Dr Banki by my Gastroenterologist for a long spell of Gastric reflux, vomiting and difficulty eating. Dr Banki pre- ordered some special video graphs to determine the exact location and issues involving my symptons, and during my initial visit with her, she spent quality time with me explaining the details of my condition. She offered a corrective surgery and also explained that in detail as well. Dr Banki was very patient, and ensured that I understood all my options moving forward. On the day of surgery, she also ensured that I was clear as to the procedure and understood what would be occurring during my time before and after surgery. She is extremely pleasant, comforting, and patient. She is also very knowledgeable, and exhibits a true interest in her patients. I was a bit anxious going into the procedure, but Dr Banki relieved all those anxieties with her comforting and reassuring words. Post operatively, she spoke to my family, and my daughter and husband were very impressed with her "manner", and method of explaining my procedure and the necessary post operative follow up. Incredible team! Dr. Banki and her staff have been attentive, available and friendly throughout my mother’s process. Great surgeon and fantastic staff! I just can not say enough.

I can't even say enough good things about Dr. Banki and her staff. I have ineffective esophageal motility disorder since 2018, could not eat anything other than jello and yogurt, on a feeding tube PEG-J at age 60 and hooked up to a feeding pump most of the day. I have seen many GI doctors, had one tests after another and unable to eat for 3 years. I found Dr. Banki who scheduled some tests and discovered I had achalasia. She performed a Heller Myotomy and I went home the same day of surgery. I can now eat meatloaf, salmon loaf, mashed potatoes etc. My feeding tube was removed, no more feeding pump! I recently had major surgery on August 30th for a Hiatal Hernia Repair. During the surgery Dr.Banki discovered that the damage was more severe than she realized because of a stomach banding procedure that I had 20 years ago. The damage was extensive but she was able to repair the damage and restore my stomach to what it should be. I was able to go home four hours after the surgery with minimal pain. I was recently referred to Dr. Banki for a possible hiatal hernia. Cynthia, in Dr Banki’s office, immediately made contact with me to get me on the schedule & was extremely helpful as well as professional. As soon as I met Dr Banki she was and is extremely thorough. I met her on a Tuesday & the same day she went in to action with thorough tests to make sure there was no doubt on the diagnosis. Dr Banki truly cares about her practice as well as the patient and gives you a sense of calm as if you’re her only patient . The next week we were in surgery and yet again Dr Banki went above and beyond. 2 weeks later, I’ve been able to experience “normal” for the first time in my life as the rest of the world experiences it. That isn’t an overstatement. After 40 years of feeling miserable from the time I took my first sip of water in the morning until I fell asleep, I truly had reached the point where I didn’t care anymore. 40 years of being told nothing was wrong….dozens of doctors, many “specialists”. None giving me more than 10 minutes of their time to try to explain a lifetime of issues. My first appointment with Dr. Banki lasted over an hour. She took the time to listen – something not a single doctor had truly done to that point. She asked questions, she took notes…she was one of the only doctors I have ever met where I felt like an individual and not “patient X”. None of this was more apparent than when we met after a multitude of tests had been performed. One of the tests was a barium swallow with a videoradiograph. The results came back as “No significant abnormality”. I read this result in the patient portal prior to our follow up appointment and was crushed as usual. “Nothing is wrong”. During the follow up appointment, I expressed my disappointment before Dr. Banki even had a chance to sit down. Her response was that she doesn’t go off of the report. She wants to see the actual test results herself. We watched the video together. She was shocked that the report reflected no findings. She pointed out everything she saw on the video…play, rewind, play rewind. The video clearly showed a hernia. It clearly showed reflux. My stomach was twisted. My left diaphragm was elevated. Within 15 minutes of the end of our appointment, she had already had the department head of radiology update the findings. The day of surgery, Dr. Banki gave my wife hourly updates. She spoke to her at length after the surgery. She called me (not her office) multiple times over the next few days to see how my recovery was going. Every nurse, technician, or doctor I came in contact with would look at my chart, see Dr. Banki was my surgeon, and immediately being raving about Dr. Banki being an advocate for her patients. Several of them were patients, or had family members, that were patients of Dr. Banki. One told me that Dr. Banki saved her mother’s life with emergency surgery. Another told me how patients fly in from all over the world to see Dr. Banki. If you are the type of person that skips to the end of the story, all you need to know is this. 6 years ago I went to a few different GI specialists in Katy. They couldn't find any issues although I complained of feeling like something was always caught in my throat. Recently, my issues got worse when I was unable to keep any food down. I was referred to Dr. Banki. What a miracle she is!! My GERD symptoms eventually got worse and I also started getting periodic chest pains every 3 weeks for 10-30 minutes duration. My team of doctors was perplexed. Love Dr.Banki. She has the best bedside manner of any physician I’ve seen. I’ve been dealing with acid reflux and a hiatal hernia for over 7 years. I was actually scheduled with another doctor to have a 360 nissen fundoplication w/ hiatal hernia repair and went to her for a second opinion. She did some testing on my esophagus and it showed I had about 0 motility. She told me what procedure would work best for me. Had I gone with the other doctor and had the procedure he recommended I wouldn’t be able to swallow at all after. I thank GOD for sending me her way !! The recovery was rough for me from the gas pain for about 7-10 days, after that it wasn’t bad at all. (Everyone’s different with recovery) she called me right back anytime I called her night or day! I had a hiatel hernia that needed repair but because of esophageal dysmotility, it could not be corrected with the usual Neison method. Thanks to Dr. Banki it was repaired without making the dysmotility worse. The nurses at Memorial Hermann Southeast made the whole experience as pleasant as it could possibly be. The hospital had all the perks of a big city facility but the staff made it feel like I was being cared for by friends and family. Dr Banki did a hiatal hernia surgery for me in December 2020. While some doctors would have refused because of my weight, she new that my insurance company denied my claim and weight loss surgery was not an option for me. She challenged me to stick to the liquid diet she put me on prior to surgery (to reduce the chance my liver would interfere with the surgery) and lose 15 pounds in the three week time period. I did, and she performed the surgery, correcting my hernia. She is such a good listener, and wanted to make sure the surgery was safe while still helping me. I am no longer needing to be on Nexium, and no longer cough myself into vomiting on a daily basis. I am no longer miserable with acid reflux controlling and defining my life. I struggled with severe reflux for 15 years, and ended up with a hiatal hernia. I have made all the lifestyle changes (no carbonation, staying away from spicy and citrus ect.) the doctors put me on medications to try and control the reflux and nothing worked.
